Chapter 310 Taking Leave to Get Married

Chapter 310 Taking Leave to Get Married

Lillian was stunned.

What?

Grace was going to register her marriage with her boyfriend tomorrow?

Lillian asked unwillingly, "So, you're planning to get married first and then buy a house?"

Grace looked at Lillian with a teasing glint in her eyes. "Yeah. Lillian, didn't you just say that buying a house before marriage counts as premarital property? I appreciate you thinking so much about this for me, but don't worry—my fiancé has already considered that. He said we'll finalize the wedding house after we get our marriage certificate, and the property deed will be in my name."

Lillian was truly dumbfounded, her face ashen. "In your name?"

Grace said, "I'm marrying him, so what's wrong with putting the property deed in my name?"

Lillian said, "He... he's so generous!"

Lillian asked unwillingly again, "Are you paying for this house?"

Grace smiled. "No. I work at Crest Corporation, making tens of thousands of dollars a month. These villas average hundreds of millions each—I can't even afford the renovation costs."

Although Alexander had transferred most of his assets to her name, she had no intention of touching that money.

She didn't really need to rely on her husband and son to support her.

Lillian clenched her fists, her nails nearly digging into her palms. She sneered, "Then why are you still coming to work? If I were you, I'd rather stay home taking care of my husband and kids instead of coming to the company and dealing with other people's attitudes."

Grace looked somewhat confused. "I don't find work hard at all. Every day is pretty fulfilling. I don't like staying home all day with nothing to do, with only my husband and kids—how boring would that be?"

Then she added meaningfully, "Especially since I get to meet a supervisor who cares about me as much as you do—it's my honor!"

Lillian's facial muscles twitched violently. She was about to lose her temper, but then thought better of it—maybe Grace just brought those villa floor plans to deliberately provoke her!

She refused to believe that Grace's mysterious fiancé would really spend a fortune to buy such an expensive villa for her!

People who could afford such expensive villas were all entrepreneurs worth at least tens of billions, or at the very least, high-level executives.

If Grace could marry such a wealthy man, why would she need to work?

Lillian dismissed the thought and didn't continue the topic.

The office returned to quiet, with everyone busy with their own work.

Anna moved closer to Grace and whispered, "Grace, are you looking at wedding houses?"

Grace said, "Yeah, we haven't decided yet."

Anna said, "I'm so envious of you. You'll get to live in a big villa! A house that big is something I wouldn't even dare to dream about. Your life is my dream!"

Grace laughed. "I think houses are all the same to live in, no matter the size."

If it weren't for Alexander being used to living in villas, with her easy-going nature, she'd be fine living in any size house.

She used to rent such a small place with Max, and she lived peacefully and happily.

Anna suddenly asked curiously, "Grace, shall we have lunch together during the break today?"

Grace hesitated for a long time, then reluctantly declined. "Not today. Today I need to have lunch with my fiancé."

Anna said, "Let's go together! I'll save him a seat."

She was curious to see what Grace's fiancé looked like—he must be a successful man!

Grace smiled. "Okay, if he's not busy we'll go together. If he's busy, we'll go to the cafeteria."

Anna nodded.

At noon.

Grace messaged Alexander on Facebook.

Alexander replied: I'm pretty busy today, don't wait for me for lunch.

So Grace went to the cafeteria with Anna.

When they arrived at the cafeteria, there weren't many people yet.

Anna said, "Grace, did you know the cafeteria food has been upgraded? The company hired a new batch of chefs—they're all from star-rated hotels. The food has improved so much compared to before."

Hearing this, Grace couldn't help but pause. She suddenly remembered that she had complained to Alexander before about how the company cafeteria food wasn't good.

She didn't expect him to actually take it to heart and hire a new batch of star-rated chefs.

After lunch, HR sent Grace an email saying her probation review had been approved, and she would officially transfer positions next Friday.

The whole afternoon.

All the team leaders were in meetings.

Lillian wasn't around either, so no one bothered her. She slacked off all afternoon, finished her work early, and carefully studied the floor plans. After comparing them, she was most satisfied with Versailles Palace. Although it had the smallest layout among the options, if she factored in renovations, it should be quite comfortable to live in.

Near the end of work.

Alexander sent a Facebook message: "I might get off work a bit late today. Will you wait for me?"

Grace replied: "Sure, I'll wait for you to get off work together."

At the same time.

The project team finished their meeting.

Lillian returned to the office and was somewhat surprised to see that Grace, for once, hadn't clocked out on time and was still at the company. "Grace, why didn't you rush to clock out today?"

Grace ignored her question, stood up, and walked over to the supervisor.

The supervisor had just finished the meeting and was stressed out. Seeing Grace walk up to her desk, she said somewhat impatiently, "What is it?"

Grace said, "Supervisor, I need to take half a day off tomorrow afternoon. I've already submitted the request—remember to approve it."

The supervisor frowned. "What do you need time off for?"

Grace said, "My fiancé and I agreed to register our marriage tomorrow, so I need half a day off."

The supervisor said with some displeasure, "Unless it's sick leave or bereavement leave, you need to request time off a week in advance. Didn't anyone tell you that during training?"

Grace was stunned.

The supervisor continued, "You've been either leaving early or coming in late lately, and now you want time off. What do you think this company is?"

She rarely spoke so harshly to Grace, but perhaps because she'd been severely criticized by Stanley during the meeting over work issues, she had pent-up anger, and hearing Grace's leave request, she used her as a punching bag!

Grace said, "But we've already scheduled to register our marriage tomorrow."

The supervisor said, "You can get married anytime. Who told you not to request leave in advance? Go next week instead!"

Grace knew she was being used as a punching bag, but she was too lazy to argue. So she said, "If you won't approve my leave, then just mark me as absent for the day."

With that, she returned to her seat.

Lillian couldn't help but add fuel to the fire. "Grace, what kind of attitude is that?"
