Chapter 300 She Is the Most Important Person in His Life

Max realized Liam felt rejected about celebrating their birthdays together and got upset.

Liam mumbled, "I didn't say I didn't want to celebrate with you!"

Max squinted at him skeptically.

Liam explained pitifully, "This is the first time Mommy will celebrate my birthday with me! How about next year? We can celebrate together then!"

Max's heart softened when he heard this.

He was always saying the opposite of what he felt.

Especially when hearing such a pitiful tone.

He suddenly remembered that Liam was almost eight years old now, and Mommy had never properly celebrated a birthday with him before.

Max sighed, "Fine! You want to eat the birthday cake I make, right? I'll make one for you tomorrow."

Liam immediately cupped his face with his little hands and nodded repeatedly.

Late that night.

Alexander came out of the bathroom after his shower to find Grace already lying in bed.

He sat on the edge of the bed and gently pinched her cheek. Grace was so sleepy she could barely open her eyes, squinting as she asked, "Aren't you coming to bed?"

Alexander looked at her drowsy yet endearing face and couldn't help leaning down to place a gentle kiss on her forehead. "If you're tired, go ahead and sleep."

Grace suddenly remembered something and forced her eyelids open, saying weakly, "Tomorrow is Liam's birthday, and the day after is Max's. I haven't had time to prepare gifts yet."

Alexander smiled slightly. "What does Max like?"

Grace said, "Max loves LEGO. Every year I give him a LEGO set."

Alexander nodded. "Alright, I'll pick you up tomorrow at lunch and we'll go to the mall to choose gifts."

Grace hummed in agreement, closed her eyes, and fell asleep quickly.

Perhaps due to her pregnancy, she had become rather drowsy lately, sleeping much longer than before.

Alexander watched her peaceful sleeping face, his heart overflowing with tenderness.

Love and liking might be two different things.

Before, what he felt for her was liking.

But now that liking had transformed into deep love.

It seemed that even if the sky fell, as long as she was by his side, he would feel at peace.

Once, he thought Liam was the only important person in his life, and that would never change.

Until she gradually entered his heart and slowly replaced Liam as the most important person in his life.

Alexander got up and walked out of the bedroom. As soon as he opened the door, he heard sounds coming from the kitchen.

He walked to the kitchen curiously and saw Max bustling about.

Alexander stood in the kitchen doorway and gently knocked on the door frame.

Max turned around and stopped what he was doing. "What?"

Alexander glanced at the stainless steel bowl in Max's hands. "What are you up to?"

Max said, "Tomorrow is Liam's birthday, and he said he wanted to eat the cake I make, right?"

Alexander replied, "Yeah, so?"

Max replied, "We have school tomorrow, and there won't be time to make it after we get home, so I'm doing the prep work in advance."

He waved at Alexander dismissively. "Go back to bed! Don't disturb me!"

He was being completely kicked out by his son!

Alexander said, "Finish up early and get to bed early."

"Okay!"

The next day, at noon.

Grace sat at her computer, having just submitted her materials, and yawned drowsily.

Anna walked over. "Grace, time for lunch."

Grace was about to get up when she noticed Lillian across from her staring at her intently.

She ignored it and walked out of the office with Anna.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

Alexander had sent her a message, "My car's in the parking garage, waiting for you."

Grace then remembered that Alexander had asked her to go gift shopping at lunch.

She had completely forgotten about it!

Grace quickly said to Anna, "Anna, I won't be able to go to the cafeteria with you today!"

Anna asked in surprise, "Where are you going?"

Grace said, "It's my son's birthday today, so I need to go pick out gifts for them."

Anna was surprised. "Them? Don't you just have one son?"

Grace smiled but didn't explain much. "I might be back late from lunch, so if the supervisor asks, please explain for me."

She patted Anna's shoulder gently.

Anna said, "Come back early! Being late means a bonus deduction!"

Grace went to the parking garage where Alexander's car was parked by the elevator.

She walked over and got in the passenger seat.

Alexander asked, "We'll go to the mall, have lunch first, then pick out gifts for Liam and Max."

Grace felt a bit troubled. "I don't know what gift to choose for Liam. What does he like?"

Alexander shook his head. "I don't know."

Grace was puzzled. "When you celebrated his birthday before, didn't you give him gifts?"

Alexander said, "I did, but he didn't seem to like any of them."

Grace thought for a moment. "Let's get to the mall first and then browse around!"

It looked like she wouldn't make it back in time for the afternoon shift, but birthdays only came once a year, especially since this was her first time celebrating Liam's birthday. Even if she was late and lost her bonus, she had to choose carefully!

At the mall.

Alexander had made a restaurant reservation in advance. After they ate, they went upstairs to browse the shops.

She first bought a new LEGO set, then began worrying about what gift would be good for Liam.

Grace passed by a specialty store and suddenly saw a very delicate bicycle displayed in the storefront.

She suddenly stopped and looked at the man beside her.

Alexander met her gaze. "You want to give him a bicycle?"

Grace nodded. "This bicycle is so cute."

Alexander chuckled. "Liam doesn't know how to ride a bike."

Grace smiled. "Then let's give him a bicycle. When we have time off, we can go camping and I'll teach him how to ride."

Max had learned to ride very quickly; Liam should be able to learn just as fast.

Alexander nodded. "Alright."

She took his arm and walked into the store, browsing back and forth. She still preferred the bicycle displayed at the entrance.

"How much is that bicycle?" Grace planned to buy it directly if the price was reasonable.

The sales clerk smiled brightly. "Ma'am, you have excellent taste! That bicycle is $19,800, with widespread customer praise!"

Grace kept her expression neutral, but inwardly gasped, her face changing slightly.

$19,800!

Nearly twenty thousand for a bicycle...

That expensive?

But then again...

Everything in this mall, from clothes to appliances, were international luxury brands. For a small bicycle to cost this much was probably normal...

Grace said, "We'll take that one."

Alexander went over to pay, filled out the delivery form, and handed it to the sales clerk. "Thank you."

The sales clerk stared at him dreamily.

This man was so tall and handsome!

She was momentarily mesmerized and couldn't snap out of it!
