Chapter 18: Sophie's got the attention
Jayden arrived at Sophie's school to surprise Monalisa.
He waited patiently at Monalisa's office.
Monalisa round up with her classes and returned back to her office. She was surprised to see Jayden and quickly rushed to give him a hug.
"You're here? Do have a seat"
"Yes. I decided to pay my woman a lovely surprise"
"That's so sweet of you"
"So, let's go have lunch"
"Lunch? Okay"
"Speaking of lunch, where's Sophie? I guess she's having lunch too"
"It almost skipped my mind. Sophie wasn't in school today. In fact I've tried contacting her, but couldn't reach her. I wonder if everything is okay with her. Honestly, I'm worried"
"Come on. You do not have to worry. She's definitely fine. Maybe she didn't feel like coming to school today. You know kids"
"That's not Sophie. Sophie doesn't skip school without a valid reason. Why don't you call her parents up"
"Really? Fine. Trust me, she's okay. I'll give her mum a call"
Jayden pulled out his phone and dialed his sister's number.
"Hello, I want to speak with Sophie"
"Jayden is that you? My good. You are so mean. You couldn't ask me how I am, how is my business and family? All you care about it Sophie. I'm hanging up" said Jayden's sister, Andrea
"Yo chill. Fine. How are you big sis?
"I'm mad at you. You never called me nor texted me to check up on me. Today you did and you are asking about Sophie? I'm so disappointed in you. Now I get why Sophie is so spoilt. You spoilt my poor baby girl "
"Poor baby girl? Jayden scoffed. "Tell me, why didn't your poor baby girl not show up at school today?
"Can you put your phone on a speak out, please? Monalisa begged.
"Okay"
"Sophie is down with a slight fever"
"Fever? why? What happened?
"You know how stubborn she is. Her dad was taking a swim at the pool and she insisted on joining him. I objected, but her dad... always supporting her permitted her to join him in the pool. Look, she's down with a fever. Such a stubborn girl. I wonder where she gets her stubbornness from"
"Obviously from you. I'll drop by at your place after work. Take care of her"
"And me?
"Take care"
Jayden hung up and placed his phone in his pocket, crossing his legs"
"see? it's nothing serious. Sophie will be fine. She's got her family with her. I'll drop by at their place on my way home"
"Why not now?
"Hey sweetie, we're going for lunch"
"Why don't we visit her instead. Probably do lunch there"
"What?
"It's also a good opportunity to introduce me to your family and introduce me to Sophie as your girlfriend"
"Yo, yo! Chill Mona. Come on, this is definitely not the right time for that. I'll check up her later "
"Okay. Let's do this instead, while we go have lunch, I'll pick out some nice things for Sophie. You come pick me up from either school or my house to go visit Sophie "
"No."
"No? Why?
"Because I said no. I'm not doing that. Seems like you ain't interested in me. Do you even love me?.
"Yes I do. Why are you popping this question?
"That's because I feel that you do not care about me. Do you love Sophie more than you love me or what?
"Are you doubting my love?
"No. I hate it"
"Hate what?
"Begging. I hate begging especially begging for attention, for love. Why are you ignoring me and talking about Sophie like I do not exist? I told you countless times that Sophie is okay yet you keep worrying and ignoring me. I'm her uncle, do you think I do not care about Sophie? why act as though you care about Sophie more than I care about her? it's so unfair you know?.
"My gush Jayden, I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. I just..."
"Exact same reason I refused to date. I hate seeking for validation to be in someone's life, to be noticed and taken care of. Don't bring back that feeling, I beg of you. As for Sophie....I said I'll check up on her. So stop" Jayden stood on his feet to leave. "Enjoy the rest of the day"
"Are you leaving?
"Yes I am. I have to go have lunch because I am hungry and I'm going to eat alone thanks to you, Monalisa "
"Hold on" Monalisa grasped his hand. "I'll just pick up my bag and we..."
"It's okay. I can take care of myself. Have a nice day"
Jayden broke off from her grip and walked out of her office. He took few steps and stopped.
Then his lips curved up in smirk.
"Now, that's how you have a woman wrapped around your finger and make a woman be under you forever. She going to feel so guilty that she would give me all her attention from now henceforth. In a no long time, I'll have her in my bed screaming my name." he laughed. "In next five seconds she's going to come running to me. One.." Jayden took a step. "Two" he took the second step. "Three " he took the third step. "Four " about to take the fourth step, Monalisa called out to his name and ran over to him.
"Are you really going to leave me Jayden and go have lunch by yourself? So unfair "
Jayden smiled secretly and turned towards Monalisa. He held her right hand and kissed it .
"Yes but now..."
"What about now? Won't you take me along?
"I will.".
"Don't do that again Jayden."
"Do what?.
"Walk away from me when you are angry when we could actually resolve the entire issue"
"It all depends. So shall we?.
"Yes"
Work hours ended and Jayden dropped by as Sophie's parents house.
One of the maids welcomed him. Andrea was sitting in the living room enjoying a nice cup of tea when Jayden walked.
"Hello, Andrea" Jayden said
"Look who is here, obviously not to see me" Andrea said rolling her eyes.
"I'm here to see you too. where's Sophie?
"Good grief. In my womb"
"What?
"I gave birth to her. I stayed up all night pushing that girl from my VJ and all I get is this...her snatching my brother's love away from me. Goodness"
"Are you done? Are you done with your drama, drama queen. I'm no longer moved by you antics. Change them. It's quite old. No, you're too old for that. I brought these for her. I'll show myself to her room since you do not bother doing that. Enjoy your tea. Don't choke on it"
"Hey! You just jinxed me. Wicked soul. Fine. Let's go to her room. The entire world, hear me out. We're going to Sophie's room"

Jayden shook his head and walked away. Andrea dropped her tea cup and ran after him.
Sophie was excited to see Jayden and tried sitting up but Jayden stopped her from doing so.
He sat beside and took a good look at her.
"Wow! you look pretty ugly toddler. Being sick doesn't suit you, so don't ever get sick in your life. You look more beautiful when you are alive and bubbly " Jayden teased her.
"I'm ugly? Uncle"
. Jayden chuckled.
"How are you dear? Jayden asked.
"I'm alive" Sophie replied.
"My goodness. Cut with the lovey dovey moment. I'm standing right here. I'm not invisible"
Jayden and Sophie laughed
"So tell me uncle, how did you know I was sick?
"I had called up your mum to know why you didn't show up at school today"
"Really? you were at my school today? Why?
"I was heading to have lunch at your favourite restaurant so I decided to drop by and pick you up. I met Monalisa who informed me that you weren't in school and she was pretty worried and that she tried reaching you but couldn't get to you. She insisted I reach out to you. So I decided to call up your mum who informed us that you were sick "
"Oh. My bad. So how's Monalisa?
"She's okay. She was really worried. I mean , for some reason I got mad at her"
"What for?
"It felt as though she was telling me that I'm not good at my uncle job. Like she was trying to take over by becoming your aunt".
"Jealous right? You're silly uncle "
"So who is this Monalisa girl? Andrea asked
"Wow! I'm so disappointed at you that you have no idea who your child's teacher is. I'm so disappointed in you Andrea "
"I've got a gun " Andrea glared at him.
"I've got two and a dagger ".
"I'll go bring Sophie's dinner, son of a gun" Andrea turned and left the room.
. Jayden helped Sophie have her dinner and joined Andrea and her husband, William at the dining room for dinner.
After the lovely dinner, Jayden bid Sophie goodnight with a goodnight kiss on her forehead and Andrea saw him off to his car.
"I know you wouldn't give me a goodnight kiss. But Sophie... I'm not angry at all, neither am I jealous nor envious of Sophie" Andrea said looking away.
"Good lord. You're such a drama queen. William will give you a goodnight kiss and sex too"
"Eww Jayden. Such thoughts"
"What? Like you ain't going to fuck him once I leave. I noticed how you were staring at him lustfully and distracting him from the discussion I was having with him. Geez horny woman"..
"Jayden!! she yelled at him. "Get going!!.
"Another antics. I know it too. Fake anger so I can leave. You go in there with the fake anger, complain to him and he tries calming you down then, boom , you two have a great night fuck, right? he winked at her.
Andrea immediately hit his hand so hard , Jayden immediately let out a scream.
"You're so rotten Jayden!.
"Well, if you put it that way. Not rotten but experienced from having the city's hottest bitches warm my bed. I should get going so as not hinder your night escapades " he winked at her and got Into his car. "Goodnight Andrea. Hey don't drain hmm tonight. He's got an important meeting tomorrow, though a mind blowing sex would make his day beautiful"
"I detest you!
"The feeling is mutual sis. Later" he waved at her and drove off.
