Chapter 49 - The Class President

"Let's hope for the best," she said and tried her best to smile. We just stood outside the fence to have a short rest since we were not able to rest even once while going down the mountain. We pushed ourselves to the limits as we never took any rest just to be able to go home as soon as possible.

"I'll take you home." I suddenly had the urge to make sure that she would be home safely because of what Zen and Lura did to her.

"Is it okay for you to come with me in my house? Or should I say, is it okay to Zen?"

"Tsss. Don't mind her. I don't care about her," I answered. I could accept Zen's anger as always. I got used to it that it became a usual thing to me.

"If that's the case, then let's go. Mama will be happy to meet you." I felt that her mother was also kind like her. Like mother like daughter. She was lucky that her mother was not like my mother who only thought of herself.

We started walking and I just followed her since I had no idea where her house was. After all, I was just their classroom president for almost 4 years, but I never had a chance to visit my classmates' houses.

It was really tiring to walk from the mountain up to their house, but everything was worth it since I had the chance to help Kaede even for once. "Why Draco wasn't able to come with us?"

"He needs to go somewhere."

"I see. You guys, okay?"

"Hmmm. Not that okay."

"And you know that he likes you, right?"

"Yes, I know."

"Well, love is really complicated sometimes." When I talked about love, I remembered my ex-boyfriend. Maybe he was already happy because I finally disappeared from his life. While I was still suffering because of what happened to us. But I did not want to be bitter on someone's love life.

"Definitely."

"Just don't rush love. That's it." I really felt that I had nothing something good to advice to her.

"I'll remember that. Thank you, Miyara." It seemed that she would not get tired of thanking me, but it was better than Zen's treatment to me. Kaede was the perfect opposite of Zen.

"Welcome."

We reached a house after few minutes, and I could see that it was a boarding house. "Mama, I'm already here! I have someone with me and she's excited to meet you!"

I raised my eyebrow after she said to her mother that I was excited to meet her. Well, I was actually excited, but I did not tell it to her. "I never told you that I'm excited."

"I could feel it. I could see it on your eyes."

"Tsss. You're corny."

"Oh, dear! Glad, you're already home. Hmmm...This friend of yours is pretty." Her mother smiled at me, and her smile was very similar to Kaede's way of smiling. I was not able to say anything when she kissed her daughter's forehead. I became envious for a moment. Sadly, my mother could not do the same to me.

"Yes, she is. Her name is Miyara and she's our class president, ma."

"It's nice meeting you, hija."

"It's nice meeting you too, madam." I smiled to her as she was also smiling at me.

"By the way, come in. I baked cake earlier."

"Sure, madam." I wanted to taste the cake that was why I chose to accept the invitation of Kaede's mother. Eating cakes was one of my stress relievers.

"Alright! Let's go inside. Feel at home, hija."

I and Kaede just followed her as I could not believe that I was finally inside the house of the person I once hated. I never thought that I would have a chance to meet her mother. But I was surprised when I saw a familiar face the moment we reached their balcony. "Draco, right?"

"Why?" He asked me a question instead of answering my question. Nice, right?

I sat down on the couch in front of him since Kaede went inside her room while her mother went to the kitchen. Maybe she was really tired. I just assumed that I could sit anywhere even without them telling me to do so. For all I knew Kaede's mother told me to feel at home. "Nothing. You're handsome."

"I know."

"You’re also a feeling."

But he did not argue with me nor utter any word. He was not a feeling, and I was just kidding him when I said he was. It seemed that he was not in a good mood. "So, why are you here?"

"I'm just checking if she's okay. I had to check my cousin in the hospital that's why I wasn't able to be with Kaede. I was actually planning to follow her on Mt. Head earlier. I don't trust Zen, Lura, and Marc. When they're around her, she's not safe," he said seriously. He really cared for her.

"Speaking of her safety, she fell in a hole during our mountain climbing. Zen and Lura were with her when it happened, but they just left her there. She was with them because they asked her to accompany them because they needed to pee. People dug that hole. Someone planned it. Luckily, I've convinced her to just go back to the entrance of the mountain and just go home. Only the two of us went down the mountain because we couldn't find them. They were not in the place where we left them. I don't have any news about them since we left the forest. But I believe that they are just fine. Maybe they continued the mountain climbing. Maybe they already reached the peak of the mountain at this point of time. I have this guess that Zen and Lura paid some people to dig a hole there for Kaede's misfortune," I said calmly and with a moderate voice. I just hoped that Kaede's mother did not hear my narration. I literally forgot she might hear it. I became so reckless.

"Thank you for taking care of her." He was so serious while thanking me. I was expecting him to say his thoughts about what I told him, but he never did.
