Chapter 48 - The Weak Girl

I was able to breathe when I heard that they did not kill her. No one would die. I immediately got up after they had passed the spot where I was hiding. I continued searching for Kaede even it was really hard that I could not scream her name because the CINCO might hear me. It took me some more minutes to finally perceived something. It was a hole in the ground which was meant for two persons.

"Kaede! Wake up! You need to get out of there! C'mon, open your eyes!" I was glad that I finally found her, but at the same time very worried because she was lying on the ground and worst, she was unconscious. I did not know what to do and how could I wake her up.

Her head hit a stone if I was not mistaken. The hole was almost ten feet deep, but I could not get in because we might get stuck together there once I jumped in. I tried to compose myself as I looked around the place and—there, I saw her bag. I looked for what I could use to get her from the hole in the ground, but I only saw a bottled water and some clothes inside a bag, it was not her bag. Those could not help me at all. Then, I started looking for big vines and the forest did not disappoint me because I found some right away. But how could I rescue her if she was unconscious? It was still hopeless even I already had the vines that could help me lift her up.

"C'mon, girl! Hear me out and get up!" I said hopefully, but it was of no use. Kaede never got up.

I was about to decide that I would just wait her to wake up when I remembered the bottled water inside the bag. I got it and without any hesitation, poured some amount of it on Kaede's face. And my heart almost jumped when I saw she got up after what I did.

"W-where are they? Are they okay?" she asked worriedly.

"Stop looking for them! They left you here and they did nothing to rescue you. In fact, they're happy that you fell there. Ha! This might be their plan for you, so that you couldn't attend our graduation day tomorrow. Dear, they just fooled you that they changed for good. It was their plan to mislead you. C'mon, I'm just saying the truth here. I'm her maid and I heard everything."

"Please help me out," she pleaded.

"Tsss. I was about to do that earlier. Here, grab the vine and I'll see what I can do."

Kaede did what I said but nothing worked after some attempts. It turned out that the vines that I got were fragile and useless. But I did not lose hope because it was just me who could help her out. "Miyara, thank you."

I heard her but I did not mind what she said because finding something that could help her was more important. It was not the time for drama. But I realized that I failed to ask if she felt something wrong and something aching within and on her body. The depth of the hole was almost nine feet, but Kaede's height was 5'5. I had to find something where she could step on it for me to reach her hands. Just like the first one, the forest did not disappoint me. Luckily, I saw a log on the ground, and I immediately brought it to where Kaede was. I carefully threw the log near Kaede's spot so that she could stand there, and I could reach her hands.

Because of our willingness to get from that place, we did it. I poured all of my strength into lifting her up, even though it was almost impossible to do it because she was heavy, and I was alone helping here. I held her hands tightly and I just put in my mind that we were running out of time...That it was very perilous to stay there for too long.

"Gosh, you're so heavy!" I jokingly said to her.

"Thank you for saving me."

"Tsss. Don't mention it," I joked again.

"Thank you, president."

"Tsss. Don't make smile HAHAHA!" Yeah, I really smiled automatically and genuinely after she talked. "Let's go home!"

"Let's find them," she suggested.

"No. We won't find them. Let's just go back. They have their own feet, Kaede girl. Don't mind them." I held her hand but to my surprise, she did not let me pull her.

"Please, Miyara. Let's go back to where we left them. Please." I could feel through her voice how eager she was to convince me.

"Okay. But we'll go home if we don't find them there. Is it a deal?" I said seriously. I really wanted to go home. If she still wanted to find or follow them, then I would let her go alone.

"Deal. Thank you!" she said cheerfully.

I tried to remember the way back to the spot where I left the two boys and we reached it with less difficulty. It seemed like I was good at remembering details and paths. But unfortunately, we found no one there. Of course, Kaede was sad about it, but we had a deal, and she could not do anything about it anymore.

"Zen is with the boys and there is nothing to worry about. They can survive here," I said.

Instead of saying anything, she just nodded, and we started walking again to find the way out of the mountain. Since it was just the two of us, it became difficult for us to get rid of the thorny grasses and other obstacles along the way. I had an advantage because I was not carrying anything going down the mountain. There were times that we reached dead-ends, but we tried and tried until…

"We made it!" she exclaimed after we passed the hole on the fence of the mountain. I felt that she was happy, but I also knew that she was still worrying. Kaede would be always Kaede.

"Don't worry they're okay," I assured her. They were old enough to take care of themselves unlike the weak girl I was with.
