Chapter 46 - Time Out
Time really flies so fast.
There came the day before the big day of our college life. We were waiting near the fence of Mt. Head when we perceived a girl holding a flashlight alone as she was heading towards our direction. I thought the Draco guy would accompany the Kaede girl because he obviously liked her so much, but it turned out that I was wrong. And yeah, Draco sounded Dracula while Kaede sounded candy. I did not like their names since then. I could make fun of those at the back of my mind. Hating their names was very childish but I did not know why I just did.
"Yehey! You're here!" Zen hugged her after Kaede reached where we were standing while others just smiled including Dego. No doubt that she was a pretentious being too. She could be so jolly in front of Kaede and in front of others, but it could not hide the fact that she was nothing but a two-faced b*tch. Her real colors did not fade just like what Kaede thought. Zen's name screamed danger and it would always. Everyone who would be near her could not have the so-called peace of mind because it was either she would use you for her advantage or would make fun of you for her false happiness.
"Fortunately, mama let me out. At first, she did not want me to because Draco would not be around. But after days of asking for her permission, she also gave up and let me come here. I promised her many times that I would really take care of myself. I'm just hoping that nothing bad won't happen in our mountain climbing," Kaede narrated after Zen freed her from the fake hug. For all I knew, the two-faced b*tch was very happy that the Draco guy was not with Kaede because no one could and would hinder her plan.
"So, Draco wouldn't be around? Well, that's sad but don't worry because we'll really enjoy the mountain climbing. Cheer up, okay?" Kaede just smiled after hearing Zen's words.
"Kaede! What's up? Let's walk together since we're the only singles here," Maybelle uttered and held Kaede's right hand. Zen came back to where her boyfriend was standing. And as always, Lura was guarding her territory.
"Yeah, you both don't have boyfriends! HAHAHA!" Marc laughed hard as it also made others laughed too. He was undeniably the girl version of her girlfriend. He was bullying them through his joke, so that they would notice nothing. Even if it was meant to be a joke, it still sounded as an insult to my ears. Kaede just smiled; she might not find the joke worthy of laughing. Maybelle laughed, but I could feel that she just forced herself to laugh.
"Don't boast, Marc. It's not cool," Maybelle said casually, but it was obvious that she did not like his joke. What she said was a silent attack to Marc. Maybelle was a different person when she was with Kaede. I could feel that she was really treating her like a true friend. There was no stain of fakeness when it came to her friendship with Kaede. Maybe she could not stop her cousin from pestering Kaede's life, but she was trying to make Kaede felt that she had her back.
"Just kidding, Maybelle. Don't take it seriously," Zen said while Marc just smiled.
"Fine," Maybelle replied before smiling to Zen like she was telling her through her smile that Marc should shut his mouth or else he would get a kick from her. After all, she had studied Jiu Jitsu secretly. Only the CINCO and I only knew about it.
"Let's start walking, guys! I can't wait to see what Mt. Head can offer," Dego stated before started walking. Each of us followed his lead.
We had to crawl just to fit ourselves on the opening hole on the lower part of the fence surrounding the mountain. The hole was not too big that we needed to try our best to fit ourselves there without getting hurt or having any trouble. There were sharp barbwires on top of the hole that was why we really took good care of ourselves because nobody wanted to be wounded by those. Entering the fences of the mountain became extra challenging because it was still dark, and we only had two flashlights with us.
Some mosquitoes were biting me, and I really felt the coldness of the dawn. I had forgotten to wear and bring my jacket because Zen told me to do a lot of things for the mountain climbing. I just realized that I left it when we reached the meeting place. My bad that I was suffering because of a worthless person like her. But I was still fortunate because I was wearing my pants. We were walking for almost half an hour when...
"Time out! Wosh. Let's rest for a while," Lura uttered before sitting on the ground. I saw her not minding the dirt she could get for sitting there for the first time. Maybe it just meant that she got really tired that she sat down there immediately. Weak being.
Dego gave her a bottled water while I also sat down on the ground to have some rest. Dude, I was carrying Zen's bag on my back weighing three kilos because of the different fruits inside. I was also carrying her handbag, which contained the other canned goods and bottles of water. They could not notice that I was already having a hard time carrying those because the surrounding was still dark, and they were simply busy walking. I was looking down on the ground when I heard few footsteps coming on where I was. But I did not exert any effort to see the face of the owner of those.
"Here's my extra hoodie. Wear it because it's really cold here," she said. I knew her voice. I knew their voices. There was no need to look at her because I knew who she was.
"T-thanks, Kaede." I accepted and wore the hoodie because I really needed it. I lowered my pride because I did not want to prolong my suffering caused by the mosquitoes and the coldness.
