Chapter 44 - Jealousy
"Maybe you're right," I answered with my eyes on the floor. "I'll go inside."
"Go!" she shouted before flashing an evil on her lips.
I immediately went inside to fix myself and to start cleaning the house since it was Thursday. We did not have class every Thursday.
The next day everything went well. I saw how Kaede stepped out from her comfort zone. It was unbelievable that she was talking to Dego, and they seemed very close to each other. From strangers to friends. Well, Lura seemed not affected by Kaede being friends with Dego, but I heard everything when she talked with Zen about misleading Kaede. Another thing was that Maybelle and Kaede clicked again. I did not know what was going on, but they should not have a happy ending.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked after he sat down on the vacant chair beside me.
"Of course, I'm okay. But I don't like the view. Kaede seems so happy. She doesn't deserve it. Look, our classmates are talking to her now and they seem to like her. Most of them became her friends for so fast. How could she?!" I whispered on his ears. My jealousy was obviously invading my system.
But he just smiled at me and pinched my left cheek. "She is not your enemy here, it's yourself. Don't focus on her, okay?"
He was correct that Kaede was not my enemy because she did nothing wrong to me. "Okay. By the way, why our professors are not showing their faces yet? It's already 3:00 in the afternoon, but no one of them is here to teach us since morning. That's weird...Weird like Kaede." I kept on whispering because even I hated Kaede, I still would not let her hear what I was saying. I did not like her because everything about her seemed amazing.
Beautiful. Brainy. Benevolent.
I would not tell everything about her because I would just hurt myself. Those might also the reasons why Zen and her company kept on bullying her. They might be like me who was jealous of what Kaede was.
"Maybe they're busy. But just like what I told earlier...She is not your enemy here, it's yourself. Don't focus on her. Stop dragging her name in a conversation every time you're angry. Be careful also. Don't talk too much about her because we are in the same room. Our classmates might hear you. It's just a good timing to talk about her at this point of time because most of our classmates are not here." He was correct that it was a good timing since just few of us were inside the classroom.
"You know what...I hate you! Stop telling me that she's not my enemy!" I said furiously.
"Are you guys, okay?" Kaede asked after she stopped talking with Maybelle from the other side of the classroom. She was worroed based on her reaction and question. But that did not matter to me. I still hated her.
"Of course," he answered before smiling to her. I did not know why he was also talking to her just like the others. I did not want to get jealous even he was considering her as his friend. Nothing to worry about because my boyfriend would never be hers. I would not let that to just happen.
"Don't mind us, dear. We're okay. Just mind your own business with your so-called fake—"
"Miyara, stop. Don't make a scene here," he uttered and held my palm tightly. He was obviously trying to warn me about my bad attitude. He did not want me to display my negative sides inside the class because I was the class president. In short, I should be a role model to everyone.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you, guys. I got worried about the two of you that's why I asked if you guys were okay." She was smiling but I could feel that she got embarrassed because of what I said. Well, she deserved it. Such an attention seeker.
I stared at Maybelle, and she was making an eye contact to me, seemingly telling me that I should not mess with her. "I hope you can protect your beloved friend, Maybelle. Don't be just a friend, protect her also. Right, Kaede?"
"You're insane," Maybelle said calmly. She was just pretending to be kind and a friend to Kaede. I believed that her friendship with Kaede was a big joke. They were just making fun of the poor lady.
"Miyara," he whispered and that made me look at him. Last warning.
"Okay. I'll stop." I was urged to close my mouth because I did not want him to be mad at me. I just did not want us to quarrel about worthless people. I had no time to fight him just because of the people I really hated.
"Sorry again. We'll just go outside. Let's go, Mayb." Before she went out, I saw her smile. I did not know why she could smile like nothing happened. She should be affected. A woman like her did not deserve to be happy nor to smile. She definitely deserved to be miserable forever.
My boyfriend just nodded to what she had said and waved his hand before they disappeared from our sights. "Classmates, can you all leave us here?" My tone was not more of requesting them to leave but of commanding them to disappear from my sight.
"Sure," one of them said, but I could feel that she was just urged to agree with what I wanted. Most of them just carried their bags and went out without looking at me. They did not have any choice but to follow what I said because they would not want me to be their enemy. In fact, I was the favorite student of our adviser, and they all knew that.
When it was just the two of us, I asked him, "Tell me. Do you like Kaede?"
