Chapter 39 - Kaede’s Best friend

"Don't tease me, crying cutie. I don't have a boyfriend and you know that."

"Yeah, I know that you don't have a boyfriend yet. I'll be happy to see your mom again after a long time ago. Tell her that I missed her. I want to meet your doll. Also, I'm excited for us to start over again."

"I'll tell mama," I replied with a smile on my lips. The smile that I failed to flash in front of him for so many years. I could not understand why I was not able to smile at him even we were in the same classroom as well as in the same campus. "I promise to let you meet my doll!" I really wanted to hug him because it had been a long time since I was able to touch him. I just missed my best friend so much.

"Thanks. Tell her also that I'll visit in your house one of these days. Your doll is pretty for sure."

"No problem. We'll wait for that day. And yeah, my doll is pretty!"

"By the way, who's the guy?" he suddenly asked while staring at Draco who was busy talking to Mayb. I did not know that they know each other or maybe the just had a conversation since both of them were not in a conversation with someone.

"Hmmm. He's Draco Clemen, a fourth-year college student too. Taking up Information Technology and a new friend of mine." I could not say more about Draco since I did not know a lot about him.

"He seems to be a good person. I believe he could take care of you," he uttered as if he would leave me. He kept on smiling, but I felt bad on the way he said those words to me. It seemed like he would leave me.

"Yes, he is a good one. Hmmm...I need to go back to Draco. It's great talking to you, Scorpy! Let's move on and be better!" I stood up and smiled to him. I saw Lura coming that was why I decided to end the conversation even I did not want it to end that fast. I hated myself for wanting to be with Dego the whole day and that was what I really felt. But I also know my limits. He was already committed to someone who hated me. She might hate me more because I had a conversation with her boyfriend.

Dego also stood up and I never expected what he did next. He hugged me so tightly that it immediately made my tears escaped from my eyes. "Always take care, kitty. Always remember that I love you," he whispered.

I hugged him back even Lura was staring. Dego was my best friend, and I should not be afraid of what she would say or think. They might know our names, but not our story. "I love you too," I whispered before I freed myself from his hug. I wanted to embrace him forever, but I could not.

I smiled to him before I walked away. I know that he wanted to wipe my tears, but I did not let him. I was too late for his heart. Someone already won his heart. Unfortunately, it was not me.

I was still sobbing while going back to where I left Draco. "Don't stare," I said before I sat down beside him.

"He made you cry?" he asked as I could see concerns on his eyes. He handed his handkerchief to me.

"Thanks," I said after I received his handkerchief. I wiped my tears and faced him. "He made me cry for good."

"Good to know. I thought he bullied you, then hugged you. It seemed like you both really know each other for so long. When he became our leader, there was something off about the two of you. But seeing the both of you now, I could see that he is happy, and you are happier." Draco was correct because I was more than happy.

"We are in good terms." I smiled to assure him that I was perfectly fine. "I'll talk to Mayb next."

"Mayb?" he asked.

"Maybelle. You talked to her earlier."

"Oh. Her name is Maybelle, huh. She just told me that she would rip my throat the moment I hurt you. She's actually weird. I don't know if she's okay. You better talk to her as soon as possible." I could feel that he was not kidding me, but I believe that Mayb was not serious about what she said to him.

"She's not weird. Don't mind what she said to you. By the way, is she kind to you?"

"What do you mean?"

"The way she approached you, how was it?" I just got curious on how Mayb talked to him. They actually looked good together.

"Well, she knows how to smile. After she smiled at me...I got a deadly stare from her that seemed to tell that I should be careful because it was her. The way she talked was full of authority. She's bossy." I could not believe what he said because Mayb was never bossy. Mayb was the kindest person I know inside my classroom. She let me feel that she was there for me even I was not able to be a good friend to her.

"She's kind." It was better to end the conversation about Mayb.

We were both looking around the forest when I said, "Thanks for coming with me here. I wouldn't have the courage to talk to Dego if you didn't accompany me here. Your words helped me to decide. I am grateful that I met you."

He faced me and smiled. "Welcome. I'm also grateful that I met you. I wouldn't get tired of accompanying you whenever you need me." It seemed that he would not get tired of helping me.

"Thanks for being a man, Draco." I could not find the right words to express how grateful I was because words were not enough. I just wished that what I said was enough to touch his heart.

"Welcome, Kaede." We smiled to each other and that was enough for us.

"It's time to go home, guys!" Zen shouted. It just meant that our short escape was over.
