Chapter 29 The Visitor
Chapter 29 The Visitor
Angela
The days following our small ceremony were a total bliss. I was flying so high in happiness I didn't even care that about what was happening in the outside world. Sergio, my husband, was showing me a side of him I didn't know. I'm still trying to get used to referring him as my husband. He's been acting romantic and sweet.
I thought he was protective before we got married, it's worse now. He's given me leeway into coming and going out the house as I please. But I never leave without informing him or even without a bodyguard. He said it's for my own safety, that even though no one knows about us yet, I must still be careful.
Today I woke up with a pit in my stomach, I didn't understand why. It's an old feeling I always had when something bad was about to happen. I've been trying to ignore it for half the day because i didn't believe anything bad would happen, but my mind refused to listen to logic. Sergio also noticed my bad moods and reassured me nothing bad would happen.
As the day progresses, the feeling increased. Around three, I received a phone call from Sergio asking me to dress nicely as we would be having a visitor this evening, that's when everything started going haywire. I started being clumsy and forgetting. It was as if my mind was going back to the way it was when I was still in the system.
By the time Sergio came home, I wàs still not ready. I had only just taken a shower and I was sitting mindlessly on the bed with a towel wrapped around my upper body. I didn't even notice when he came in, I only noticed him when he was squatting infront of me.
"Hey Angel, are you ok?" I hear him ask me, although he sounded far away.
I nodded my head absently. I'd been trying to convince myself that everything is fine but I don't seem to be going anywhere with that. The last time I felt like this was when I lived with Mr Zaro. Sometimes I wonder how I ever survived that man and his tortures. He's the sole reason I attempted running away from the system, and now I know how they found me.
"Are you still feeling weird? I tell the visitor to come another." He tells me as I try to concentrate on him.
"Can you do that?" I ask him and he nods.
"But I really want them to come. For you especially." He says, making me feel worse than I do.
"Who is it?" I ask him really wanting to know to avoid surprises.
He contemplates telling me. I can see it in his eyes, I'm going to regret agreeing to see whoever he wants me to see. But at this point he's not giving me much of a choice. He really wants to do this.
"Someone from your past." He says standing up and sitting next to me.
"Why?" That's the only question I have for him. I don't care about every other thing, it's not important.

"Because I want you to really start living and not just existing." He tells me.
"I don't want to do this." I tell him honestly.
"I want you to see what I mean when I tell you that I will always protect you. This is the first step."
I feel a year trickle down my face. I don't want to see whoever it is that's coming. I don't care if it was one of the sweet ones that I lived with, although there wasn't one, I don't want to see whoever is coming. I have a bad feeling about all of this. It all makes sense now why I've been feeling all this the whole day.
"Five minutes. Look him in the eyes for five minutes and you can come back up to our bedroom."
"Promise?"
"Yes, I do. But I really wish for you to sit through dinner. I think it would be good for you."
"What are you planning to do exactly?" I ask him,
"Show him the queen that you are." He says and i don't believe him much.
From what I know if Sergio, he doesn't do things half. So the fact that he said that as simple as he did makes me curious to know what exactly his plan is. I don't believe he's do anything to hurt me. Especially just a week after we'd gotten married. I don't think he'd be that cruel to me.
"Ok, I'll come. But Annabelle is not coming with us." I tell him, giving in.
"I promise you won't regret this." He says and kisses my forehead and stands and walks to the bathroom.
A moment later I hear the shower turn on. He doesn't take long in the shower. By the time he turns off the shower, I've put on a black and white formal dress and small heels and sitting by the bed. When he steps back into the bedroom, he's fully dressed in another suit sans the tie.
"Are you ready?" He asks me and I really want to laugh at his question.
"No. Should I be?"
"Yes. Because this is your domain. He's come into your territory, show him who's boss baby. Walk into the room with your head held high."
I wish it were all as easy as he says, considering that man has tortured me for half my life.
"I will be next to you, always. If you feel intimidated, squeeze my hand or my thigh. I don't mind putting him in his place for you."
Borrow his strength, thats all I'm hearing as we head downstairs hand in hand. From the bottom of the stairs, I hear laughter in the den. I was right, it is him. I recognise him from being the loudest in the room. I stop in my steps and try to gather my strength, Sergio trying to reassure me.
When I've gathered enough strength, I nod to Sergio and we continue into the room. When he sees me, he freezes. A moment later a snug smile appears on his face and he comes closer to Sergio and I.
"Is this the surprise you had for me, my friend?" Mr Zaro asks touching my arm.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you Zaro. I don't like my property touched." I freeze at Sergio calling me his property.
