You Will Succeed
Samar woke up and found Avika still sleeping. He placed a kiss on her forehead and got out of bed. He got ready and combing his hair seeing Avika in the dressing mirror. She woke up and sat on the bed rubbing her eyes. Samar smiled at her this gesture which annoyed her.
"Don't laugh," Avika said with a pout.
"Good morning, angel."
"Good morning, Mr. husband. Why didn't you wake me up? Mom may become serious at me for sleeping until now."
"No worries. Mom won't say anything. She loves you more than her son these days."
"Don't be jealous. I love you more than anyone."
"So sweet. Now get ready fast. Today we need to talk to mom and dad about your idea of starting the new firm."
"Samar, is it necessary to talk today itself?"
"What's bothering you, Avika?"
"I am scared of their reaction. "
"Relax, Avika. Everything will be fine, and most importantly, I am with you to make sure everything's fine."
Avika was worried because she doesn't want Samar to argue with his parents again for her. She just prayed that nothing should happen. Samar went down asking her to come down after getting fresh up. Avika got ready and went down.
Avika felt something wrong seeing the seriousness on everyone's face. She understood that Samar has discussed about her career with mom and dad. Samar looked at her. Avika went and sat near him.
"See Avika, we are not against your wish to possess a career. You can do it. But starting a new firm is never acceptable. We can't agree to this. You both are children and you can't understand the consequences," Garima said firmly.
Avika looked at dad and he nodded in agreement with mom.
"Mom, what's the problem if Avika builds her career on her own?" Samar asked seriously.
I held his hand, asking him to stop the discussion.
"Mom, I can understand what's bothering you. But I promise that I will give the first priority only to our family and my relationship with Samar. I do not think ego has any place in our relationship. Please mom, permit me to build my career."
"I already said my decision, Avika. You both competing with each other in the same field can never do any good to your relationship with Samar. I think you both have already made a decision. Do as you wish but we are not going to stay here anymore."
Avika and Samar got shocked with Garima's words.
"Mom, we didn't make any decision," Avika tried to convince but Samar held her hand tight, asking her not to stop them from leaving the house.
They went off and Avika started crying.
Samar hugged her and made her to sit on the sofa. He gave water to her.
"Relax, Avika. It's not the ending of our relationship with them. Just the beginning of your career. They will soon come back when we prove that competition can't create misunderstandings or ego feelings between us," Samar said.
"But just for my career, how can I break my family? It's not correct, Samar. please let's bring them back. I will work for our company."
"Don't be so panic just for one hurdle. You would face many more hurdles to win the goal. You should be strong and confident. Remember, your failure is not yours alone but also mine. I want to show them that our relationship is not that fragile to break easily just because we compete with each other. Proving me right is in your hands. If you win, I will win. Tell me what are you going to do?? Are you going to make me win or lose?"
"We will win for sure."
Samar smiled at her answer. He kissed her on the forehead.
"I will go to the office now. I will come soon."
"Yes, please come soon. I feel dull. I want to spend with you."
"Sure, I will be back soon."
Samar came home after three hours. Avika smiled seeing him but he ignored her. She didn't understand anything. She followed him to the room. He got fresh up. She tried to talk but he didn't even look at her.
She hardly controlled her tears. She was sure that he is angry at me but didn't understand the reason. His eyes were red and his face is serious. Somehow she gained courage and went to him.
He stood on the balcony. She went there and she got the smoking smell. Samar won't smoke. But now he has burning cigarette between his forefinger and middle finger.
Her breathing became hard and eyes filled with tears because of suffocation. She started coughing continuously. Samar turned towards her. She was about to fall unconscious but he caught her in his hands. Slowly Samar dropped her on the bed and gave her water.
She took the breathing hardly. Samar didn't understand what to do. His eyes too filled with tears seeing her. Suddenly he got an idea and he placed his lips on her lips. She opened her mouth. Samar gave breath to her. Then, he opened all the curtains and doors to make her feel better. He sat beside her and took her onto the lap. After one hour, she became normal and sat on the bed getting up from his lap.
"Are you ok now? what happened to you suddenly?"
"I-I am allergic to smoking. That causes difficulty in breathing for me."
"I am sorry."
Samar hugged her tight. If anything happened to her, he couldn't bare it. Though he was very angry at her, he couldn't put her life at risk.
"Are you angry with me? Did I do anything wrong?"
"Leave it. Did you have lunch?"
"No. I.."
"Come let's have lunch"
"Do you smoke?"
"Yes. When I need to calm myself from anger, I smoke. But don't worry from today, I will never smoke again. I can't let your life be in danger because of my habit. I promise you."
Samar took her to the dining table and they finished lunch. She came to the room. Samar told her to sit near him.
"Avika, you have asked me the reason behind my anger and what's your mistake. You did two mistakes. If you accept them, it will be fine. If not, I would never ask you, but you can't see the same love in me until you accept your mistakes."
Avika didn't understand what he meant. She thought for an hour.
"Samar, as far as I know I did one mistake i.e. I hid something from you."
"What's that?" Samar said.
"Akshara is my elder sister and I hide it from you. This is the only thing I hid from you. I am really sorry for that. And I don't know what's my second mistake because I didn't do anything other than this."
"Bring your medicine kit."
"What?"
"I won't repeat my words," Avika gulped sensing his seriousness.
Avika brought and gave that kit to him. Now she understood her second mistake i.e. she quit using medicines and lied to him that she took medicine everyday as Akshara prescribed.
He opened the kit and looked at all the medicines. She didn't take even a single tablet. He looked at her.
"I am sorry," Avika said.
"Take the tablet right now."
Without saying anything, Avika took the tablet immediately.
"Now tell me, why did you hide that Akshara is your didi? Didn't you trust me to the extent where you can share everything to me? Why did you quit medicines and lied to me?"
"Because of the bitter past, I thought no one should know that Akshara is my sister. So I didn't say even to you. I didn't want to use these medicines and if I say that you will be angry with me. So I lied to you."
"From now on, you are going to take your medicine every day in front of me. I will be checking."
Avika nodded. She didn't understand what he will decide next for lying and hiding about Akshara. She looked at him with fear. He came close to her. He cupped her face.
"Why are you scared of me? Did I scold you?"
Avika shook her head in no. He smiled and wiped her tears which came unknowingly with fear.
"I am not going to scold you. But don't repeat it. Next time if you do the same, you will see my true anger. This time I chose to forget and leave it."
Avika with relief and hugged him.
"Shall I ask you one thing?" Avika asked him which came as a whisper as still she is in fear.
"Yes, you can."
"How do you know that Akshara is my sister?"
"Actually today I went to meet Akshara regarding your treatment. I waited for her and saw an old magazine there. It has her interview when she topped in the university. It has the photos of her whole family.
In the morning, I saw your medicines kit unintentionally and found that you are not using medicines properly. "
"I am sorry."
"It's ok. Avika, I won't get angry even if you do any mistake. But I want you to say that frankly with me. I can't take it easily if you hide or lie anything to me. Just remember this."
"I will never do it again. I promise I won't hide anything from you from now."
"Take rest. Don't prepare dinner for today. I will do it. You just take rest as you are not well."
"It's ok. I am feeling better now."
"Of course you will because it's me who gave you breath. Remember I am the one who saved your life. You should be grateful to me," Samar said.
"Why should I be grateful to you? After all you saved your wife who is your life. Indirectly you have saved your life."
"I agree with you. I saved my life and the one who is my everything. But you should pay the fees to me."
"Fees?"
"One sweet kiss," Samar said.
Avika smiled at his naughtiness. Just a few hours ago he was angry with her, then he cared for her, corrected her mistake, and now became naughty. She smiled and went close to him to pay his fees.
Avika came close to him and placed her lips on his lips. He started kissing her and slowly encircled her waist, pulling her closer. Suddenly her phone rang. Samar left her. She blushed and didn't move from the place. I took her mobile and gave it to her. It's her friend Varun.
She took the call and looked at me.
"What happened?"
"Varun is asking that are we attending his marriage or not."
I took the mobile from her hand.
"Varun, We are sorry. We are unable to attend your marriage. Hope you understand."
I said this to Varun on mobile and gave it to her. She disconnected the call and sat on the bed silently.
"What's wrong with you now?"
"Nothing," Avika said.
I looked at her with confusion.
"Why did you say that we are not attending for the marriage?"
"Because Akshara said that it's not safe for you to visit your native place now. Moreover you have discontinued your medicines. So I can't invite risk by going there. Now don't think much and take rest. Within a few days you will be busy with your professional works."
"Ok. I will take rest."
"I have some work. I will be doing it. Call me when you are awake."
"Are you going to the office again?"
"No. When you are not well, I won't go leaving you alone. I will be working in our study room. Now don't talk. Just sleep."
She slept and Samar became busy with my work. Samar completed the work and his mind filled with her thoughts. He didn't understand why she always choose to hide even small things from him. He thought to confront and warn her seriously about that. But unfortunately seeing her innocent face he forgot his anger. Anyhow I have to give her freedom which allows her to share anything with me.
Samar went to her. She was not in the room. He searched for her in the room. But she was nowhere. He saw drizzling outside. He understood where she was. He went to the terrace and looked at her who left herself to the rain. Rain drops fell on her making her wet and every drop falling on her made his heartbeat increase. She is so romantic in this moment and beautiful as always. Samar went and hugged her from the back. She jumped at first but stopped touching his hands which are on her belly. He teased her by moving the fingers on her bare belly.
He slowly turned her towards him. She bit her lower lip and he tugged her hair behind her ears. She didn't look at him but he understood that she is blushing hard. He slowly touched her lips to remove the rain drops fallen on her. He moved the hands on her neck teasing her.
"Stop it, Samar," Avika said as if she is murmuring. Her voice made him realize that her breathing became hard. He smiled and kissed her collar bone, then her neck. He kissed her chin and lips. He made her look at his eyes.
"You are so beautiful that makes it hard for me to resist. Do you want me to stop? I know you like to enjoy the rain."
She shook her head as no indicating him that she is ready for what he wants to do.
"I love you," Avika said.
Samar remembered his first meeting with her who hesitated to get into his car doubting him, is now completely ready to trust him and give herself to him. Now it's his responsibility to keep up that trust until the last day of his life.
A wife is someone who comes from a different family and knows nothing about them, but in the long run, she trusts her husband completely and becomes an important member of the family, accepting all the new responsibilities, traditions, and customs of that family. What all a husband can give in return for her sacrifice is just keeping up that trust and making her happy as often as he can.
Samar smiled at her and took her into the room in his arms. He wiped her hairs after dropping her on the floor to stand.
"What are you doing?"
"You are spoiling your health by getting wet in the rain. I am just wiping your hairs. Go and change your dress. I think you need hot milk with turmeric powder. Otherwise you will catch cold."
She laughed at him for his words.
"I didn't joke."
"This is too much. You know what. I always love to play in the rain. Nothing happened to me."
Samar went near to her almost colliding with her. She stopped talking and bent her head. Samar noticed her lips shivering because of his proximity. He laughed seeing her. He observed many times that when he stands close to her, she stops talking and shivers with blushing. He got away from her.
"I will prepare dinner tonight. I think you need to go to know in the next week to know about the status of your application for license to start the new firm."
He changed the topic to make her feel comfortable. It's been 3 months that they both got married but still Samar felt that he needs to know more about her.
"Yes, I need to go in the next week. Can you accompany me?"
"No, I have something important in the office next week. I will be busy for the whole week."
"That's fine. I will prepare dinner. You are so tired with the office work. Take rest."
"We shall do it together," Samar winked.
"No need. I can do it or you do it alone," Avika shouted at once understanding his intention.
He smiled as she understood his intention. It's his hobby to disturb her while cooking and she gets irritated because of that. So she doesn't like him to enter into the kitchen when she cooks. Somehow they both prepared dinner together. Of course, Samar didn't forget to irritate her and she too didn't forget to scold him for his naughtiness.
Next week, Avika went for checking the status of her application for license. Samar went home after making a deal successful. She opened the door. He hugged her.
"Today was a great day, Avika. We got a big contract. I am so happy."
"Congratulations!"
"Please bring me a coffee," Samar said and Avika nodded.
Samar understood that there's something wrong. She was about to move but he caught her hand.
"Is everything okay?"
"Yes," Avika said.
Samar smiled and turned her towards him. He cupped her face.
"Tell me what's wrong?"
"They rejected the application of license for my new firm."
"That's a small thing. Just reapply for it and make your project and objective clearer. What's there to worry about?"
"It's easy for you but not to me. I failed in the very first time. I decided to quit. I will join in our company."
"So you are saying that you don't have the capacity to win. You are going to accept the failure. You want to show to the people that I too failed by being confident that you will win. Do as you wish. But you really disappointed me. I didn't expect this from you."
Samar thought to go out but she stopped him.
"No, I don't want you and your confidence to fail."
"I never fail because even now I am confident that you will win for sure."
"But I feel low. I have no confidence in me that I will win."
"Avika, Success never comes without failure. Failure is nothing but success turned upside down. Tell me the name of one great person who achieved success without failure."
"Saying is easy but facing is tough."
"Nothing comes easily. No pain, No gain. How can you expect success that easily without giving your full effort to it? It's your first failure and you lost total hopes. But do you know that people who failed many times succeeded finally because of their persistence? Don't you have that persistence? Can't you dedicate yourself to your work to succeed?
Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, failed 1009 times. He went to every hotel with his Fried Chicken recipe. But everyone declared it as a failure recipe. But only his persistence, dedication and confidence made him succeed and get contract from a hotel after failing 1000 times. Even today, his photo stayed as a logo for KFC just because of his unwavering confidence.
Trust yourself. Be confident. You will win. Give your best and then the result will be in your favor. Stop doubting yourself. You can do it. You are born to win and I am sure you will win."
Avika hugged Samar.
"I can win when you are with me. I will win because you are my support. I will never break your confidence in me."
"That's good. Never lose your courage. Try to do something different in your project. Let it be useful to some more people around us. Make your point and objective clear. You will get the license."
"Thank you. You are always with me whenever I need you. How can you be so sweet and pure? Why do you love me so much even after hurting you so much?"
"You are thinking me as sweet and pure because you are so sweet and pure. You didn't hurt me. It's just a small mistake which you did unknowingly. From the day we got married, you never hurt me. It's true you made me angry sometimes, but didn't hurt me. You care for me a lot. You love me. Your nature makes me to fall in love with you completely."
