20. Liam,the witch

Immery sat, quietly by the window pane, beside Christian's vast library, watching as the world went by outside, werewolves running through their course of life while she contemplated her. It had to be an hour or two since the brothers left, since she was all alone in this big penthouse.

It gave her time to think, to analyse and interpret the various things that was going on in her life. Immery absentmindedly toyed with the pen in her hand wondering what to write in the empty journal that sat in front of her. She had no idea how Christian got to know that she liked to do this thing, she hadn't told him but once she walked into the library she found a completely empty journal with her name on it.

Back in her house trying down about her day was the only interesting part of her day even if there wasn't any eventful thing happening.

"I hope I am not disturbing," Immery's head turned towards the entrance of the library where stood a tall blonde woman. Immery immediately recognised her as Lily, Christian's Beta.

"No no please come in," Immery told with a smile as she lightly patted the opposite chair. It would be great to have some company other than the brothers and Riley, she thought.

"Alpha requested me to drop by, I smelt your scent here so directly came," Lily explained her visit to Immery who nodded her head.

"He just worries too much," Immery answered with a blush, it felt weird to speak about Christian to anyone, their relationship or whatever its supposed to be was still so new.

"Who wouldn't, you are special my dear. Relax those wrinkles on your forehead and tell me what worries you. I might not be able to help but I am definitely a good listener," Lily offered her help, she could see the constant battle that Immery was in. It wasn't just that she was a mate to a Vampire Prince and an Alpha Werewolf but she was also having to figure out the dynamics, her own change and new discoveries.

"I just feel...feel so confused and contradicted. I feel like I am changing. It just all feels very unreal and I can just feel whatever is approaching isn't a happy story," Immery let her thoughts out, it did feel good to express herself. She was grateful that Christian decided to sent Lily to her.

She knew that she could trust Lily, Christian trusted her so could she.

"There is no pre-written guarantee of happily ever after my dear, you need to write it yourself. It wouldn't be all smiles but it would definitely be an epic story," Lily spoke as a warm hand rested on Immery's shoulder emitting comfort.

Immery nodded at her, the knots in her stomach relaxing.

"There is one thing that I can say, the packs are very happy with your arrival. They have waited for their Luna for a long time, you will get to see that soon in the upcoming founder's day event," Lily spoke as she got up from her seat, a small smile on her face. Lily though was built rough and tough had a gentle and calming aura.

"Founder's Day Event?" Immery asked confused, Christian had definitely not mentioned something like that to her.

"Oh dear ! Did the Alpha not mention it to you ? It's the day you are going to be introduced to all the smaller packs within ours as their going to be Luna," Lily spoke, excitement and pride laced in her voice.

"Now I must take your leave, I need to be somewhere else. Alpha will surely tell you all about the event when he comes back. You will love it there. But till then you can read this.."

Lily walked to the bookshelf, Immery's eyes followed her looking for something frantically before she pulled out a small little chest, a big lock sitting on it. She quickly rested the chest on the table and drew out the little knife from her pocket before cutting a line with it on her palm while Immery watched her with bewildered eyes. She let the few drops of her blood fall on the lock, which immediately unlocked and fell, Lily pulled out an old rusty journal and handed it over to Immery.

"This will answer most of your curiosities dear, its the journal of our beloved Luna Elizabeth, Christian's mother. She had asked me before parting to give you this. She was just like you dear, lovely and full of life," Lily spoke with her eyes glistening, she gave a little bow to Immery before leaving.

Immery watched as Lily left the room and probably the house before bringing her attention back to the journal, she dusted the dirt off the cover - *Elizabeth Wonderhood's Journal*

Immery sighed before opening it and turning to the first page, getting lost into it almost immediately.

*"Dear would be daughter-in-law, yes I know it's you, if not Lily wouldn't give it to you. I know you are confused, wary and scared so I am here to guide you..*

"You think he would be here? Like here ?" Christian asked for the tenth time, huffing and throwing his hand in the air as he followed his brother.

"For the tenth time, yes," Nicholas answered curtly, turning his head for a brief moment before looking straight again.

"So where is he ? And why the hell would he help us ? Hasn't he like always been the Lord's loyal," Christian questioned as he tried to reason why Liam would want to help them.

"A change of heart I suppose," Nicholas answered, his words cold just like all the others were since they had left the penthouse.

"Well I hope you are right otherwise we are just about to die on this eerie hill by one of the most powerful witches in the world," Christian muttered under his breath, a shallow look of mock on his face.

"Tell me again why Mary couldn't do it ?" Christian questioned as he looked at his brother stopping and looking at him.

"Because Mary can't do it. Liam's bloodline has been gifted with the ability to perform the entire procedure. His father had performed it for our parents, no other witch knows what to do," Nicholas answered, the look on his face serious as he looked around to find Liam.

"Ookay, but I don't trust him," Christian said.

"Me too, but he's out best shot at this," Nicholas replied as he rested his back against the tree trunk.

"I hope that changes by the time we all have served out purpose," a sudden voice came from behind a couple rocks, a dark haired, tall but lean man emerging from them.

"That depends if are ready to work on our terms," Nicholas quickly stood in front of Christian, his older brother nature kicking in.

"I am. Look this is what I am born for right ? So let's get over with it. All I want is a little friendliness and composure," Liam said in a defeated voice as he stood in front of them.

"You guys don't look a day older since I last saw you !" Liam exclaimed with wonder in his voice, his creatures that were known as freaks in his world had always been fascinating to him. Intriguing even.

"You mean when you were ten ? Sure, we haven't," Christian answered with a grin on his face. Nicholas chose not to answer anything rather started to descend the hill. Now that he had the needed witch and Riley they could process with the process.

He did not know about his feelings yet but he definitely did not want Immery to die, if they do not go through the mating process she was going to die and he did not want that to happen to her, for his brother's sake he reminded himself.

She meant nothing to him, not at all. Yet, the fragment of memory of her so lovingly kissing his brother made his heart burn.

But he did promise to keep her safe, and he was not the one to break them. Immery probably had to choose and she chose his brother, the better brother as the one she wanted to love. And he had to be okay with that.

He would keep his promise to her, always and forever.

He did not have to love her for it, and even if he did she need not love him back. He was broken, damaged, she would rather be sheltered by his brother's fairytale love.

Yes, he could do this. Nicholas promised to himself as the three of them descended the hill together.
