Chapter 23 His First Pawn.
Chapter 23 His First Pawn.
Naida
Her face almost turned pale the moment I told her, and she shook her head, closing her eyes. It seemed like she could not process what I had just told her about the alpha.
Well, not everything, and I even spiced it with a little lie. Something to turn her to my side for a while. I wasn't so sure she would be able to tell the difference. Besides, she said she could keep the secret.
Now, I wasn't so sure. The way she sat there on the ground, staring into nothing as she tried to take in what I had just said to her. She shook her head.
“I don't think so. I know the alpha is mean and all, but I don't think he'll want to do that to you. He loves, and–”
I interrupted her with a strong look on my face. "Maybe that's what he wants us all to think, but the truth is that he doesn't, Olive. He needs me because his life is coming short. I heard him telling someone. I am the sacrifice he is looking for.”
She seemed stunned, pale and worried at the same time. The poor girl seemed like she had been scared by a ghost. She was worried about the whole thing.
"You have to calm down. I know that there's a lot on your mind. You have been trying to think about everything else, but maybe you should calm down. I think there's a lot on your mind that you're not actually sure you're telling me for now.”
Silence echoed through the building. No one knew what to say. It seemed like she was still trying to understand what I had just revealed to her.
"Well I wished it was actually what you said, but I am positive. I heard the alpha talking to someone about it. I am his next sacrifice, and there's nothing I can do about it. I am nothing but his sacrifice. He wants to–"
She shook her head in disbelief. The look in her eyes was something else. It was more than I could imagine. In fact, it seemed like I wouldn't be able to manage it.
I loved all the reactions I got from her. It only proved one thing. It only proved that she was actually not sure about her alpha anymore.
“You should understand now why I don't like him. He's not to be liked, he's not to be loved. Do you understand me?" I asked with raised brows, and she nodded, still asleep pale as a ghost.
She was trying to believe the whole thing. “So what are you going to do now? Are you going to try to escape?" She asked, but I shook my head. I didn't know what else to say about the whole thing.
“Why?!" She seemed shocked by all that I had said. I didn't even know what else to say about the whole thing.
"Are you sure you're good?” She asked, and this time held my hand. She seemed really shocked, and worried about the whole thing.
“Well, I tried, but I guess he's just too good for me to escape. He keeps trying to catch me anyway so what's wrong with that?”
She exhaled, and didn't know what to do about it.
"Are you going to let him take your life?” She asked, and I exhaled.
"There's really nothing I can do about it. He has already found me, and I can't leave him. I can't. Despite all that has been happening to me.”
Silence reigned again. She pressed her lips in confusion, and then stared at me with worry. Her heart seemed to be drumming hard, and she was worried about the whole thing.
It got to a point where I just watched her, and smiled. I knew she had already fallen into the trap that I had given to her.
“I can't escape, and if I do, he's going to kill me, but first I need to find a way to end my bond with him. If the bond is ended, he's going to find someone else.”
She shook her head, using her palms to cover her mouth. It seemed like the information was too much for her to bear, which was a bit strange, but she didn't really care at all.
“A new girl? Yes the alpha is cruel, but we didn't know he was this heartless…” I exhaled, feeling quite worried about everything around me.
"You really don't need to continue this way. I know that there's a lot you have in mind, but don't worry, the moongoddess will rescue me from this.”
She nodded, and just like that, I sent her away. "I'm a bit tired, and I need to rest, so can you at least let me?”
She pressed her lips, nodding, but she asked a question that caused me to worry.
“Are you sure you want me to leave you alone? What if the–”
I immediately clicked my tongue. "Tsk! No one is supposed to know about this. That was why I asked if you could keep a secret before I said this to you, do you understand me?" I asked with raised brows, and she immediately tried her best to nod her head, but I knew that there was already a lot that wasn't set.
"I'm just scared….” She tried to make me aware, but I immediately rushed to cover her mouth with my palms.
"You should be able to keep this secret. I really am shocked to hear all this. Why are you even acting this way hmm?” I asked, and she nodded, taking in deep breaths to calm herself down.
“Just make sure no one hears about this. Do you understand me?” I asked, and she was forced to nod her head. I guess she wanted to be ready for whatever was going on, but then it didn't really make any sense. No matter what happened, it was just a bit crazy.
I watched how she stood up, walking like there was no bone in her body.
“Finally, I have one minion. She would be my eyes, but in the meantime, I was worried about Jayden," I whispered.
