Doctor Matthew

“ Shit, we are done for,” Arianna muttered as her eyes fell on Melody who was rushing to stand up. She reached over to grab Melody but shrieked the next minute. Melody retched all over her. “The heck!!”

“Oh my God” Samantha groaned as she slapped her hand on her forehead and turned away so that she didn't have to see Melody's vomit

“I told you all that it was a bad idea to take her along for the party, but of course, no one listened” Zain said as she folded her hands over her chest and leaned against the wall.

Arianna grabbed Melody, who was about to collapse back on the bed and carried her into the bathroom. She dumped her into the bathtub and turned it on.

Melody sighed as cold water filled the tub to caress her hot skin, which felt like it had been set ablaze. Though she was still biting up inside, it was a little better than before. “It's still so hot inside” she moaned as she slid down in the bathtub, intent on making sure the water covered her head.

Rebecca grabbed Melody before the water could cover her head. She has watched her reaction when Arianna helped her I to the tub, “maybe cold water would work out fine until the drug wears off. Perhaps me should also give her cold water to drink”

“ I said it before, but of course, a certain senseless somebody said it was a bad idea 'she would fall sick. She is a human and not a werewolf'" Zain said, repeating exactly what Samantha told her when she suggested that they soak Melody in cold water.

“She can still get a cold” she snapped at Zain before turning to look at Arianna, Rebecca had gone out to get cold water, “why don't we call the doctor”

“It's late already” Arianna told her

“ It's late? If you were sick, wouldn't we call the doctor?” Zain asked exasperatedly.

“ I don't fall sick like humans, and we only have doctors for having’s sake" Arianna said

“ Well, a human is sick so call a doctor” Zain snapped

“ I can't call Hunter's doctor. He might tell Hunter about it and Hunter might kill me” Rebecca said when she returned with a glass of water.

Some minutes later, Rebecca changed her mind. Melody was still squirming in the bathtub and complaining of feeling hot. It was better to call a doctor who would know what to do to make Melody's torment end.

She knew that she couldn't bribe Hunter's doctor, as she had tried it once, and it didn't work out. It was better to face her punishment than to allow Melody to keep suffering.

“I think Zain is right, we should call the doctor” Rebecca resigned herself to fate and stood up to make the call.

The three girls anxiously stood in the bathroom watching Melody as they waited for the doctor to arrive.

Rebecca began to pace around when it felt like the doctor was taking too much time.

“Hey calm down. He would be here soon” Samantha snapped at Rebecca when the noise of her slippers slapping against the tiled floor of the bathroom became too much for her ear.

“You don't understand, if anything happens to her I am done for” Rebecca said as she bites her fingernails, something she does anytime she is scared or anxious.

“Nothing would happen to her” Arianna consoled her.

Twenty minutes later, Hunter's doctor knocked and all of them looked relieved as Samantha went to answer the door. Rebecca already explained everything to him on the phone, so he knew what he was going to be dealing with before he arrived. It didn't take long for him to make Melody calm down and fall into a peaceful sleep.

“You can't tell Hunter that I called you to treat my friend” Rebecca told doctor Matthew as she escorted him to the door.

Matthew turned around and fixed his dark but piercing gaze on Rebecca. Making her squirm uncomfortably.

“Then you shouldn't have taken that young girl to the club. You knew better, and she is not even up to twenty-one. You need to tell Hunter so that he can find who did that shit to her and make sure that the person is punished. Who knows if the person has been monitoring her and would try to do it next time. You said it yourself that everyone around the table is from your school, the same school that she attends” Matthew lectured her.

Rebecca sighed in defeat and rubbed her sweaty plans against her jeans trousers, “I understand. Thanks for coming out this night”

Matthew continued to watch her with a look in his eyes that Rebecca did not understand before he nodded and walked out.

“What was that about?” Arianna asked from behind Rebecca.

Rebecca whirled around and asked, “what was what about?”

“That look he gave to you before leaving? I told you before, Matthew likes you” Arianna informed her.

“ No he doesn't” Rebecca's voice came out small and unsure. This was not the first time Matthew had given her such looks, and Arianna had told her before Matthew might like her. She hadn't believed it before, but after today, she thought that Arianna might be right.

“I feel sorry for him” Arianna said as they made their way back to Rebecca's room where Melody was now sleeping peacefully

“Me too,” Rebecca sighed. Matthew was human and she was a werewolf. He was handsome, but she didn't like him. She has a mate that she was in love with.

“Well, can we all go to bed now that Melody is fine?” Samantha asked. Her eyes were red, and she looked like she would fall to the ground and sleep off if care was not taken.

“You guys can go to bed now. I will stay with Melody” Rebecca told them.

“ Are you sure?” Arianna asked Rebecca as she watched her with uncertainty. She knew that Rebecca was worried about Melody as a friend, but beneath it all, she could feel her.…..fear? Arianna wasn't so sure.

“Don't worry” Rebecca gave her a thin smile, “I will be fine. Go to bed”

“If you say so” Arianna nodded before walking out with Zain and Samantha to their various rooms.

Rebecca sat on the bed and watched Melody for a long time. Waiting to see if she would wake up with any complaint. As she watched her, she began to analyze what must have happened and who might have slipped something into Melody's drink, but she couldn't come up with any names.

The intensity of what happened finally hit her hard when she joined Melody on the bed. What if they didn't return to Melody because Samantha was complaining about feeling tired, the person who slipped the drug inside her drink might have led her away and raped her.

Tears filled Rebecca's eyes and began to drip down her cheeks as she remembered everything that she knew Melody went through in the hands of her father. Everything Hunter also went through when he found out what his mate had been enduring all her life.

What if Melody was raped again and could not recover because she had carelessly taken her to a club and left her on her own.

Rebecca couldn't hold it anymore as she burst into tears, and she sound of her cries filled the silent room

“I'm so sorry, Melody, I'm so sorry. I didn't plan for any of this to happen” she cried and the only response she got was a deep sigh from a sleeping Melody.

After crying for a while, what Matthew told her about the person striking again came back to her mind. She picked up her phone and texted Morgan that she wanted to see him alone in the afternoon. Morgan was with Melody at the table, and that was one of the reasons why she left Melody without fear to go down to the dance floor.

If she could not resolve this on her own, she would get Hunter involved. He might get angry at her, but he wouldn't kill her. She was his sister. As she began to drift to sleep, she prayed that Melody won't remember anything when she woke up. The girl already had different bad memories in her life, she would be damned if she added another one to the list.
