Chapter 15 Bargain
Facia
The man called Mikel. Yes, I hadn't stopped thinking about him since he left. My intuition kept telling me there was something fishy about that man,but then I recalled the amount of money I had received from him.
One hundred golden seals wasn't a joke. If I were to be truthful to myself,I hadn't seen such money before all at once. It was overwhelming. I was trying hard to think of the perfect excuse to give to my husband when he comes home and doesn't find his so called daughter, but Vienna kept pestering me with her unreasonable questions.
I had raised her long enough to fully understand her. She was indeed a pure breed from the Halfad lineage.
I drummed my fingers on the table, patiently waiting for whoever was at the door to come in.
Vienna turned to look at me and frowned.
"Mother, it's lestrange" She revealed.
"Huh..." I pouted in surprise.
"I thought he went on a trip" I added.
Having him stand outside for too long, even though he had come announced, was dangerous.
"Let him in, Vi" I demanded.
The young and naive looking boy walked in with a prideful aura that almost had me laughing. His father's influence was the only reason I tolerated his arrogance.
"Welcome,my son" I greeted with a warm but pretentious smile.
"What brings you to my humble abode?" I asked.
The young man didn't respond immediately, but instead, took my husband's seat and made himself comfortable on it while crossing his legs majestically.
"Hello there, mother" He greeted with a flat tone.
"I came here for a purpose" He revealed.
His manner of approach had ruined my mood. I wanted him out of my house as fast as possible.
"State it" I ordered curtly.
Lestrange scanned the environment before reverting his gaze to me.
"Where's Sharon?" He asked.
"Who?" I asked back, taken aback by his question.
"You heard me correctly, mother. Where's your slave?" He asked again, but this time, with a frosty voice.
His question threw me into utter confusion. For the very first time, he was asking about Sharon, the girl whom he never spared a glance since he got together with Vienna.
"Why are you curious about it?" Vienna chipped in, diverting his attention from me.
"When did you start to care about her?"
"It's not like that" He refuted.
"It's just....."
For the next few minutes after listening to Lestrange's narration of what he had encountered on the way, I remained short of words.
"Wait! You let your men attack Mikel?" Vienna berated him, breaking the silence.
She was clearly angry and only God knew what it would take to pacify her.
"Is that his name?" Lestrange asked with widened eyes.
"So, it's true you sold Sharon to him. I actually thought he kidnapped her which was why I ordered my men to launch an attack on him" He explained.
"And is he still alive?" Vienna probed further.
"Yes, he is" He replied.
"I left him with your slave" He added.
"How dare you?!" Vienna screamed.
"You..."
"Don't, Vi" I cut her off.
"It's pointless arguing with him. Besides, he knows nothing about the truth" I whispered.
"What truth?" Lestrange questioned.
I swiftly ransacked my brain, searching for the right way to offer an explanation to him.
"Lestrange, this is something I hope I can trust you with. No one must find out. Not even your family or my husband" I begun.
"I know how much you love Vi, but she can't live without Sharon by her side, so we need you to help us get her back" I revealed, sighing deeply.
Lestrange's hardened gaze softened.
"Are you saying that man kidnapped Sharon?" He asked, standing up with clenched fist.
"He wrongly accused you. That man is going to pay" He snapped.
"How do you plan to help us?" I questioned with much sincerity,my curiosity piqued.
"In any way possible. Just state what you desire and I'll readily provide it" He declared, grinning foolishly.
"As for the man who kidnapped Sharon, I'm going to tear him up bit by bit until there's nothing left of him" He grumbled.
I glanced at Vienna with a sign to keep her mouth shut. She probably couldn't take Lestrange insulting her new love interest, but I also couldn't let her ruin my plan.
"Lestrange" I called, studying his facial expression carefully.
"I want you to help me find a way into the Alpha's court" I revealed.
He looked at me with a strange look. "Why?"
"For the sake of power, Lestrange. It'll benefit both families if your cooperate" I replied.
Rever
A sharp pain shot through my neck as I scrambled to sit up. I glanced around, searching for any clue that could bring me back my memories. The throbbing pain in my head doubled as I tried to recall what had happened before I blacked out.
Instantly, I spotted a lean figure stepping down from the carriage with light footsteps. The moment her face registered in my brain, all the memories I had lost flooded through my mind.
"Sharon" I called,my lips curved into a smirk.
I examined my body, expecting to see a scar of injury, but I found none but remnants of green leaves on the wounded area.
"You're awake" Sharon said, snapping me out of my thoughts.
How did she get to me? I asked myself. It seemed I was too lost in thoughts that I had noticed her presence.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"I'm quite sure you're okay, because the herbs I used were meant to remove the scars and get rid of the pains" She muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
I didn't have the strength to argue, so I nodded in affirmation,my lips sealed. Few minutes later,I stood up and walked towards the carriage. There she was, seated with souless eyes that made me clench my fist in anger.
"It's time to go to my park" I stated.
"Where is it?" She asked.
"It's not far from her. We'll be there soon" I assured her.
