Chapter 114 Chapter 38.3

Chapter 114 Chapter 38.3
THIRD PERSON POV
Tears streamed endlessly down Desmond's face. What did his parents think he was? A robot that couldn't be hurt? Someone who had no feelings? If only they had told him the truth sooner, if only he had found his wife sooner, then they could have fixed their relationship much earlier.
He could have been by his wife's side through every milestone of their son. He couldn't even imagine how difficult it had been for Heaven during the days when their son was fighting for his life.
Desmond looked up before letting out another deep breath.
“Other than this, what else are you hiding from me?” Desmond asked gently. He wanted to know everything now so he wouldn't be blindsided again by another revelation in the future.
“We're not hiding anything else from you,” Romulo answered his son. Desmond sat down on the sofa, covering his entire face with both hands. He couldn't forget the look on their son's face. The little boy had smiled at him as though he recognized him as his father.
He wanted to carry him and hold him in his arms, something he had been unable to do for the past two years. Even as he cried, he couldn't stop himself from laughing because of the overwhelming happiness he felt. He was happy to know that Daryl was alive. He just felt guilty because he hadn't been by Heaven's side while they were fighting to save Daryl's life.
“Son, I'm really sorry for hiding all of this from you. It was never our intention to hurt you or deceive you. I was only thinking about your wife. Heaven was too weak, she couldn't handle the stress she was going through. If you had found her back then, do you think she would have talked to you? Do you think she would have faced you? Heaven would have only become angrier, and she would have been in even greater danger. She could have suffered severe bleeding, and it could have cost her life. Just think about the fact that your family will finally be complete now. I don't know when Heaven plans to tell you, but I'm sure she really intends to tell you the truth,” Shiermy said gently.
Desmond ran his fingers through his hair. He remembered what Heaven had told him. Had she invited him on a date this Saturday because she was finally going to tell him the truth?
But he still felt deceived. They had hidden someone so important from him. It hurt him so much because his son had grown up without even knowing him as his father.
“Desmond, son,” Shiermy called worriedly when her son suddenly walked away without saying another word. She was about to follow him, but Romulo stopped her.
“Let's leave him alone for now.”
“But he can't drive looking like that. What if he gets into an accident?”
“Just trust him. I don't think he'd do something like take his own life. He'll only get angrier with us if we keep talking to him. He already knows what he needed to know.” Shiermy could only let out a heavy sigh.
Desmond drove his parents' car because his own car was still at his in-laws' house. He headed straight to his penthouse. His mind was completely blank, as though he was floating in the air.
He lay down on his bed. He had no appetite to eat and simply stared blankly at the ceiling. How was he supposed to face Heaven? Should he just wait for her to tell him on her own that their son was alive? What if she still didn't tell him? How was he supposed to tell his wife that he already knew their son was alive?
The next morning, Heaven arrived at the company with a smile on her face. She was carrying food that she had personally cooked. She had been waiting for Desmond's reply and call since last night, but until now, she still hadn't received anything.
She simply thought that Desmond must be busy, so she didn't want to bother him.
When she reached the executive floor, she went straight to Desmond's office. He wasn't there yet, so she decided to clean his desk first because it was covered with scattered documents.
Tomorrow was Saturday, and it was also the day of their date. Every time Heaven thought about it, she became nervous. She kept wondering how Desmond would react once he finally saw Daryl.
When she heard the office door open, she smiled.
“Hi, good morning!” she greeted cheerfully, but the smile disappeared from her lips when she saw Jake instead.
“Good morning, Ma'am Heaven,” Jake greeted as he walked inside. Heaven glanced outside, thinking Desmond might be coming in after him, but she didn't see him.
“Isn't Desmond with you?” Heaven asked.
“Didn't he tell you that he won't be coming to work today?”
“Why? Is he okay? Does he have a fever?” Heaven asked worriedly. Was that why Desmond hadn't replied to her messages last night?
“No, Ma'am, but all Sir told me was that he wouldn't be coming to work today. I don't know what he's planning to do because he doesn't have any meetings or business trips scheduled.” Heaven's brows knitted together slightly. Did something happen last night?
“I see. Do you need something here?” The excitement had completely disappeared from her voice. She had happily cooked breakfast earlier, hoping to share it with Desmond.
“I just need to pick up some documents.” Heaven nodded before sitting down on the sofa. Jake walked over to the desk where the documents he needed were.
“Thank you, Ma'am Heaven. I'll be going now,” Jake said before leaving the office. Heaven let out a deep breath, wondering if something was wrong with Desmond.
She shook her head, refusing to think negatively. She picked up her phone and called Desmond's number, but it was unreachable.
“I wonder what he's doing right now,” Heaven murmured worriedly. She looked at the food she had cooked and placed it inside the refrigerator so it wouldn't spoil.
She returned to her own office and continued with the work waiting for her. She had already checked her phone several times, but Desmond still hadn't called or sent her a message.
“I hope he's fine,” she whispered. Heaven forced herself to focus on her work. She only stopped when someone knocked on her office door. She felt excited because she thought Desmond had finally arrived, but it wasn't him.
“What are you doing here?” Heaven asked Anica seriously. Anica smiled before walking in and sitting on the sofa.
“We just came to deliver some documents. What happened to you? Why do you look like that?” Heaven let out a deep sigh.
“Nothing, I'm just wondering where Desmond went. He hasn't called me since last night,” Heaven replied worriedly. Anica swallowed hard because she still hadn't told Heaven what had happened the previous night.
“Heaven, Desmond already knows that Daryl is alive.”
