Jansen’s POV
Me, Jessie, and Rose rushed into the car. Rose sat next to Ken, while Jessie and I sat in the middle passenger seat.
Although we had to go to the police station to give a statement, I can say that day was the happiest day for me and Jessie.
The car driven by Ken drove away from the pier. I looked back and noticed that the pier was still crowded with people with their own interests. I saw more boats docked at the edge of the pier and some of them unloaded ice crates filled with fish. That afternoon, the sun was still bright and the light reflecting off the sea made it look even more beautiful.
Goodbye suffering and welcome happiness!
Arriving at the police station, the police officers greeted us. They took us to a room and asked us to wait while they got ready.
A while later, two policewomen came in with some files. They sat down in front of the laptop and started asking me and Rose a lot of questions. We answered all the questions as best we could.
An hour and a half later, all the questions were answered, and we could go home. Three policemen escorted us home. Finally, we could see our beautiful gate and I saw Mom standing at the entrance with a cheerful look on her face.
I couldn’t wait to hug and kiss her.
Piper’s POV
They were finally back by my side. Thanks, God! I couldn’t wait to hug and kiss them and lay down with them. It was a beautiful day, and I felt like my heart was full of flowers and rainbows.
“Lily, there they are. Is all the food ready?” I asked.
“Yes, ma’am. We have prepared their favorite dishes,” Lily replied.
Lily and some servants stood behind me. They were carrying balloons, flowers, and gifts that I had prepared to welcome them. The gifts I was supposed to give them on Christmas Day, but I gave them now to make them happier after the scary days.
The car driven by Ken stopped right in front of us. The car door opened. Lily took my hand to get closer. From inside the car came Jansen, then Jessie.
“Mommy!” the twins yelled.
We hugged and cried. The tears just poured out. It felt like I hadn’t seen them in ages. My heart was so happy. I could still hug and kiss them again.
I couldn’t imagine if I couldn’t hug and kiss them anymore. I didn’t know how I would live my life. They are my soul and my life.
“Are you guys okay? Which part is hurt?” I asked as I examined their bodies.
They smiled and shook their heads to the right and left.
“Nothing, Mommy. Oh, Jessie’s knee got scratched by a thorny plant when we were walking through the forest. But, Rose has treated her knee. Oh, we forgot to introduce Rose,” Jansen replied.
Rose? Who was Rose?
An ordinary-looking young woman got out of the car. Her face was cute with her long brown hair down. Her innocent lips, with no lipstick, smiled gently and her beautiful brown eyes looked at me and her body bowed.
“Madam, I’m Rose. I was the one who escorted Jansen and Jessie out of Palaca Island. I’m sorry that my arrival may have taken you by surprise. Believe me, I’m not a bad person and I’m not part of the gang that kidnapped your kids. I hope you can accept me here,” she said.
She looked nervous. Her words stuttered, and she squeezed the fingers of her own hands. Her body language showed she was not a bad person. She was simple and innocent. There was no harm in trusting and accepting her here.
“Come here,” I replied.
She walked over, I took her hand and said, “Thank you for helping my kids and bringing them back here safely. I don’t know how my husband and I can thank you. However, if there is anything we can do for you, you can tell me.”
She looked at me with sparkling eyes. “Thank you, ma’am. You are kind.”
“Ok, now let’s go in,” I invited.
However, before that, the servers gave Jansen and Jessie buckets of flowers. Then they pricked balloons with needles as a way of welcoming the twins back. After that, Lily gave them a gift box.
From the moment they entered the door, the twins’ faces looked happy. Their lips kept smiling non-stop. Their eyes lit up at the surprise we had prepared for them, and their lips kept praising and thanking us.
“Are you hungry?” I asked the twins and Rose.
They nodded, “Yes. We are starving and want to eat the food Lily made.”
“I’ve made a lot of food for you guys,” Lily replied.
“Yeay!” the twins yelled.
That afternoon, we ate together at the dining table. Ken, Lily, and the servants also ate with us. The feeling of happiness we felt at that moment was beyond words. I was hoping the happiness didn’t pass quickly and wasn’t taken away from us. I didn’t want to be selfish, it’s just that we deserve to be happy.
In life, problems are bound to exist, and life is like a spinning wheel. Sometimes we are at the top and times when we are at the bottom. Sometimes we feel happy, but sometimes we feel sad. However, I was hoping this horrible incident didn’t happen to us again. Jay and I will think of every way to prevent the bad guys from doing their evil deeds, even though I don’t know who they are or what they plan to do next.
In the evening, Rose slept together with Lily. She will work in our house as a maid. Meanwhile, the kids and I lay on the bed after taking a bath. Jansen lay on my left side and Jessie lay on my right side. We talked about many things, including their experiences when the kidnapping happened.
To be honest, hearing their stories gave me goosebumps. I couldn’t imagine the fear they must have felt back then. Luckily, we were together now, and they could escape all those horrible events.
The next day, Jay returned home with Nick. There was another emotional scene. Jay hugged the twins tightly. The three of them cried happily. Then Jay and Nick called Rose into the workroom to ask her about the kidnapper.
One week later, in the morning, when the twins were getting ready to go to school, Nick entered the house in a hurry. He had a panicked look on his face. He walked over and greeted me, asking, “Good morning, ma’am. Is Sir Jay awake?”
“Yes, he’s in the workroom. What’s wrong, Nick? You look panic,” I asked.
“Oh, thank you. Then I’m going to see him now. I have some important news for him. I’m sorry, ma’am,” he replied as he walked away, leaving me in a state of confusion.
