Chapter 49: The More Chaotic, the Better

Chapter 49: The More Chaotic, the Better

"Maplewood Hotel is mine. Whether I can manage it or not, that's my business. Do I need to ask for your permission?"

Faced with Victoria's cold expression, Jade was momentarily speechless.

"I'm your father's wife. I have a share in Maplewood Hotel. How dare you speak to me like this?"

Jade had to pull out her status.

"Just because you're my father's wife, you think you can place your relatives in the business my mother left me to squeeze out profits?"

"Just because you're my father's wife, you think you can boss me around?"

"I respect you because I have manners, but I have to warn you, Maplewood Hotel has nothing to do with my father or you. If you want to take over Maplewood Hotel, you're dreaming."

"Of course, you can go complain to my father about me and see what he can do."

Victoria made her position clear, showing no respect for Jade in her words. Jade was so angry that her chest heaved and the wrinkles on her face seemed to deepen.

She knew full well that Charles was a businessman who knew how to weigh pros and cons.

Over the years, Maplewood Hotel had been losing money on the surface, but in reality, the profits had been embezzled by Billy through various means, then laundered and transferred to Jade's account.

The two of them had practically drained Maplewood Hotel dry.

Now that Charles had agreed to hand the hotel over to Victoria, it would be hard for Jade to profit from Maplewood Hotel anymore.

Of course, she could badmouth Victoria to Charles in various ways, but Victoria now had the Ashford family backing her.

She was William's wife.

Charles wouldn't be foolish enough to offend Victoria now.

Jade's face darkened with anger at Victoria.
"Jade, I need to get to work. You can leave now. Maplewood Hotel is in chaos right now, and someone needs to step in and take control of the situation."

"I'm very busy. I won't see you out."

After Victoria finished speaking, she showed Jade the door.

At the same time, Maplewood Hotel's PR department was being swarmed by reporters. The PR staff couldn't handle the pressure, so people from other departments were called in to help.

When Victoria arrived, reporters were holding cameras and conducting interviews.

"Excuse me, when did Maplewood Hotel's general manager Billy start his affair with his secretary?"

"As general manager, Billy has caused such a scandal. What impact will this have on Maplewood Hotel?"

"What will your hotel's management do about this? Will Maplewood Hotel shut down for renovations indefinitely?"

All kinds of sharp questions were thrown at the PR department.

Without instructions from upper management, the PR staff could only respond mechanically: "Sorry, this is an internal matter. We have no comment at this time."

"We'll respond as soon as we have any news. Thank you all."

...

Meanwhile, Kyle and William were sitting in a private room at a coffee shop, watching the drama at Maplewood Hotel unfold through a live stream.

Kyle watched the live footage, utterly confused about what William was up to.

Normally, for a small business like Maplewood Hotel, even if general manager Billy caused a scandal, it wouldn't attract this much media attention.

But William had told Kyle to help make a big deal out of it and blow things up.

After Kyle's efforts, that's why so many reporters were attacking Maplewood Hotel, refusing to let go of Billy's scandal.

"William, Maplewood Hotel is your wife's business. Is it really okay for you to make such a mess?"

Kyle looked at William nervously.

From his past experience, once a hotel of this size was pushed into the eye of public opinion, it wouldn't be long before it went under.

Didn't William care about Victoria? Why would he harm her this way?

Hearing Kyle's question, William chuckled and said, "Maplewood Hotel needs to be in chaos right now."

"Only this way can my wife get the maximum benefit."

William's words left Kyle confused.

"William, I don't quite understand."

William stood up and said mysteriously, "It doesn't matter if you don't understand, as long as my wife gets the benefits."

"Also, continue with that contract to work with Maplewood Hotel. When you have time, go see my wife in person and sign the contract."

"I already promised her. Don't make me look bad."

After William finished speaking, he got up to leave. Kyle looked at William somewhat speechless, feeling a bit crazy.

Why did he have to fulfill the promises William made to Victoria?

Had William, after just a few days of marriage to Victoria, already become this devoted?

He never noticed William had the potential to be a simp!

At the same time, Victoria and Grant watched coldly as the PR staff were besieged by reporters.

Grant looked at Victoria with some concern, scratched his head, and said, "Ms. Hughes, this has really blown up today, hasn't it?"

"Mr. Brooks isn't even a celebrity, yet his scandal has caused such a commotion and attracted so many reporters. What should we do?"

Not just Grant other Maplewood Hotel employees were also worried about the hotel's future.

Faced with Grant's concern, Victoria didn't care at all.

She crossed her arms and asked Grant, "Do you want to work in the general manager's office?"

Faced with this random question from Victoria, Grant said somewhat self-deprecatingly, "Me? Ms. Hughes, you think too highly of me. I'm just an ordinary employee. How could I be lucky enough to work in the general manager's office?"

"Besides, I'm not like Janice, I don't have the looks to attract Mr. Brooks's attention. Forget it."

Grant was mocking Janice's special relationship with Billy, which got her the position of general manager's secretary.

Hearing Grant's words, Victoria said, "I'm giving you a chance to work in the general manager's office. Let's see if you can seize it."

"Go now, and as the future assistant to Maplewood Hotel's general manager, send a message in the work group telling all of Maplewood Hotel's senior management to attend a meeting in the top floor conference room in half an hour."

"Anyone who doesn't show up will be considered resigned."

After Victoria finished speaking, she ignored the chaos before her, turned around, took the elevator, and headed to the conference room upstairs.

Grant looked troubled. He had no idea what Victoria meant. She was just a manager in the administrative department, what right did she have to order all the senior management to go to the conference room for a meeting?

On what grounds?
