Disrespecting mother in law
Rhea's POV
"I have always known that you would be a nuisance. But, I didn't expect you to be this disrespectful" she cursed, pointing her index finger at me
"I am not disrespectful" I replied with a smile.
Although I knew that things would eventually escalate.
I wanted it to be obious that I wasn't at fault.
"Poor wretched thing. You're nothing but a sl*t, jumping from one king to the other" she insulted me.
I knew many people thought that of me by now, but hearing her say those words straight to my face without even thinking twice hit me differently.
"At least my husband is still alive, and I can never hurt my child the way you hurt yours" I clapped back.
There was no way I was going to let this woman win.
I think I have stayed in this packhouse long enough to become brutal.
"You poverty-stricken…" she was talking when I interrupted her.
"I was never poor. If you doubt me, then you can make your findings. Yes, my family isn't as wealthy as yours, but I wasn't poor" I reminded her with confidence.
The shocked look she had on her face was priceless, I wanted to take a picture of her so badly.
"I will be sure to tell Kayden when he returns. And trust me he would have them throw your things out of this packhouse. Forget the packhouse, you will be looked down upon in every corner of the werewolf kingdom" he threatened me.
"Of course you will report to Kayden, because without him you are nothing. If Kayden hadn't married me and become the king, then maybe you would have been on the streets. I'm just saying" I gave a faint smile.
Her jaw dropped to the floor.
" I think you should close your mouth my beloved mother in law I don't want a fly getting in your mouth" I told her, and I could hear her swallow hard as she shut her mouth forcefully.
"You know, for someone who solely depends on Kayden for survival. You are very disrespectful and ungrateful. Just because Kayden decides to be quiet and take every nonsense you throw at him, doesn't mean I will do the same" I added, walking closer to her.
"Your son is facing one of the most difficult moments in his life right now. And instead of supporting him and being his strength and shield, like a normal mother would. You decided to turn against him" I clicked my tongue against the roof of my mouth.
"The energy you used in exerting powers, which you do not have on me, would have been very useful for fighting for your son" I whispered to her.
She lowered her head, completely speechless.
I never wanted to do this, but she pushed me to the wall.
I saw an unbearable amount of pain in Kayden's eyes when he spoke about her last night.
I cannot even imagine what he had been through all these years.
Imagine, when the people who are meant to love you unconditionally, and protect you are the ones who hate you without reason and still point the gun at your head.
"I'll make sure you regret this. You will surely pay for this" she murmured looking around, ashamed.
I would be ashamed too if I was in her position. I mean all the warriors and maids present were staring at her from behind the pillars of the packhouse.
"I think you should first make the people who have offended your son pay for their evil deeds. You should make them regret ruining your son's image. Only then can you talk back at me" I told her, before I turned around to leave.
What had come over me? Where was this courage coming from?
One thing was sure, Kayden would definitely chase me out of the packhouse when he returns, but at least I would have an inner joy, knowing that I had put that woman in her place.
I mean, who treats their son in such a horrible manner.
"Take my things back to the car" I ordered the maid as I went to sit inside one of the cars packed outside.
All the warriors and maids stared at me in awe. Never have I been so commanding and insulting before.
But, I guess desperate times, call for desperate measures indeed.
"Take me back to my father's house, and be quick" I told the driver, while I was seated at the back with another warrior in the front.
Alot of things were running through my head.
I could hardly believe that I was going to become an orphan overnight.
I wasted so many years hating my father, instead of spending time with him.
And after he dies, where will I go from here? Kayden will eventually divorce me, and with the stunt I just pulled it won't be up to 2 years, and after that, I will have no one else left in this world.
I pulled down the curtains, as I let my tears roll down effortlessly.
My life was completely over. I never knew I would say this blone day, but I still love my dad.
I wish I had allowed Alysia to come with me. Her presence alone would be enough to make me happy.
"Are you okay Luna?" One of the warriors asked.
"I'm fine. Are we half way there yet?" I asked, so I would know if it was too late to turn back around to get Alysia.
"We are almost at your father's house," he informed me.
"So soon?" I was shocked.
"We have been driving for over five hours now." He told me.
"Okay" I replied..
I guess I had been crying longer than I thought.
I had this sharp pain in my chest. I was still so scared to see my father. What if he isn't happy to see me?. What will I tell him when I arrive home? How on earth will I be of help to him?
So many questions ran through my head. Oh moon goddess, please give me the strength I would need to overcome this challenge you have put before me.
