Chapter 74 Her Mom
Chapter 74 Her Mom
Alicia experienced a beautiful dream after being injected with an unknown potion by Martin.
In the dream, she found herself in the presence of her late mother, Olivia, who had passed away a decade ago. The warm glow of the setting sun illuminated Olivia as she worked with her sewing machine.
"Mom!" Tears filled Alicia's eyes, and she couldn't help but cry out.
"Allie, you look beautiful," Olivia said, opening her arms in a familiar gesture, the same mom who always called her "Allie" with a soft smile.
"Mom!" Alicia rushed to her mother, embracing her and pouring out her heart about the hardships she had endured.
"My boss took advantage of me, and I lost the job I loved; my friend Mae lied to me, and I lost our friendship. My husband, my mate, was a liar, and I rejected him. Job, friendship, and love — I have none left."
"Mom, will you take me with you? Please," Alicia pleaded, looking up with teary eyes.
"My sweetie, I can't take you with me. You know you're not alone now, right?"
Alicia tenderly touched her flat stomach, where her baby was growing.
Olivia brushed Alicia's hair and continued in a gentle voice, "You're about to be a mother, my Allie, and I know it's hard for you that your mate and friend lied to you. But they must have had a reason. You need to keep your wits about you and not be fooled by surface appearances."
"I don't want to see Tobias again. He could have just told me who he was, but instead, he chose to deceive me with another identity," Alicia said, shaking her head, unwilling to forgive Tobias for his deception.
"Maybe he had to use another identity to survive?" Olivia reminded Alicia.
"Sweetie, I know you're not impulsive and unreasonable. I kept an eye on you while serving the moon god in heaven and met your mate's parents. Actually, your mate is a good boy; maybe he just hasn't learned to trust his mate."
"Mom, how do you know about Tobias? You met Tobias' parents?" Alicia asked in surprise, but before her question could be fully uttered, her mother's face blurred, and her warm hands became transparent.
"No, Mom, don't go." Alicia panicked, attempting to grasp her mother's hand, but found herself passing through her mother's translucent form.
"It's time to go. Allie, remember what I said; you have to trust and help your mate."
As the sunset around her and the sewing machine next to her distorted, Olivia's demeanor abruptly tensed, and her speech hastened, "Listen, sweetie, your healing powers can dissolve any toxin. That old Alpha doesn't know about your special ability. So right now, you're the only one who can help Tobias. You guys have to stop that old Alpha from..."
Before she could finish, Olivia vanished in front of Alicia.
"Mom! No!" Alicia woke up from her dream, calling out to her mother and realizing it was just a dream.
She touched the lingering tears on her face and reflected on the dream, finding it rather unbelievable. She had occasionally dreamed of her mother after her passing, each time receiving encouragement to be strong and pursue the work she loved.
But this time, her mother had shared unusual details, including her special healing abilities. Olivia even mentioned Tobias' parents and Martin.
Alicia rubbed her temples, trying to remember the last thing her mother had said in the dream. Her mother wanted her to help Tobias and seemed to want them to stop Alpha Martin from doing something.
What exactly was her mother trying to convey?

\[Knock\]
The door echoed with three deliberate knocks.
Alicia snapped back to reality, realizing that this room was her bedroom in the Los Angeles apartment. She was back in Los Angeles?
The door swung open, revealing a one-armed elderly man.
"Lee, why are you here?" Alicia asked.
"Why did you wake up so quickly?" Lee inquired, a hint of surprise and concern in his eyes.
"What happened? Why am I in the apartment?" Alicia questioned.
Lee seemed hesitant to meet Alicia's gaze. His right hand awkwardly grazed the pocket of his jeans, and he explained, "I'm sorry. I promised Martin to help him. I couldn't let Martin die. But, I couldn't bear to let him extract your shapeshifting ability. So, I brought you here."
"Extract my shapeshifting ability? What do you mean? Why does Martin need my shapeshifting ability?" Alicia raised an eyebrow, not understanding what Lee was talking about.
"He doesn't just need your shapeshifting ability. He..." Lee hesitated for a moment, pursed his lips, and decided to reveal the truth to Alicia. "He needs the shapeshifting abilities of 100 Alphas to help him eliminate the tumor in his body."
"A tumor? Martin has cancer? Wait, I remember you guys went to Europe. What on earth happened? Lee, can you please tell me everything?" Alicia asked bewilderedly.
"Allie, listen, I don't want to hurt you." Lee took an old-fashioned phone and a brown men's wallet from his jeans and threw them in front of Alicia, saying, "This is a satellite phone and some cash. Give me the Upper Moon Ring, and then run! Leave Los Angeles."
Alicia seized the opportunity, grabbing Lee's right hand, and asked with a worried expression, "Lee, please tell me what happened. Please. I want to know where my friend is, and Alpha Ellis, and... Tobias."
After a few seconds of silence, Lee sighed, "If you had never shown kindness to me, never cared about me, maybe I would have been ruthless, completely obeyed Martin's orders."
