Chapter 87 Will Be Waiting

Chapter 87 Will Be Waiting
Hazel

I hadn't seen him for weeks, but I still remembered that moment very vividly.

That was the beginning of all these. It was what prompted my Dad to marry me off, even though that wasn't an excuse because I knew he was already planning it.

Williams also snapped his gaze to me, but he didn't look surprised. We held each other's gaze for a while before Ethan made us break eye contact.

“What’s it?” He asked.

“There's an issue…” Ethan didn't let him finish before he cut him off.

“Solve whatever issue there is with the rest of the vampires. Have Elaine help you if you can't handle it, don't get me involved,” he said.

Once again, he acted like I was invincible and walked upstairs.

“Get whatever it is solved yourself,” Elaine also said and walked upstairs after Ethan.

Williams stared at them before he turned his gaze back to me.

“It's been a while,” he said.

I chuckled nervously. “Yes, it is. How have you been?”

“I think we might need to skip the pleasantries first. I heard from Lyra that you were here,” he said. “But there's something more urgent.”

“Is something happening in the Coven?” I asked, my face twitching in concern.

Not because I was starting to like the vampires, but mainly because of Lyra and Williams.

“Your fiancé is here to take you back,” he said.

My eyes widened a bit hearing that. Damien was here.

I didn't know the type of emotion that was supposed to swirl inside of me at the moment, but I didn't smile, nor was I glad that he was here.

Damien seemed to read the look on my face, and he moved closer to me, his hand landing on my shoulder. “Stay here, I'll handle it with the other vampires”

He sounded like he was going to protect me against my own fiancé, along with the other vampires, a kind I've always hated.

I listened to him and stayed inside while he walked out. I didn't know what they were going to do to Damien, but I stood still in the sitting room, my back leaning against the wall.

A few minutes later, I heard distant voices coming from somewhere very close.

“My wife is in there! Get her out here for me!” That was Damien's voice, I recognized that much.

Wife? I scoffed at the word because we haven't gotten married yet, as Ethan had said.

The commotion kept going on outside, and I found myself slowly moving my feet.

I walked over to the door and hesitated before twisting the doorknob.

I walked into the vast compound and saw them. The vampires spread, their bodies positioned in a way to fight and defend while they growled with their fangs.

Damien stood in front of them with just Baci behind him and his face staring at every one of the vampires in anger.

“Go back. There's no one here for you to take!” Williams' voice rose, the words said with so much emphasis.

Damien didn't reply, and the whole place fell into silence, but everyone of them stayed alert for when the other would attack.

“I'll talk to him,” I said.

My voice cut through the silence, making everyone turn their gaze to me.

“Hazel!” I heard Damien's low voice.

“Hazel!” Williams also called, his voice a little bit in panic.

I smiled and moved closer to him. “Don't worry. He can't harm me”

I wasn't so sure of that, but I still said it.

Williams called the vampires, and they retreated, disappearing from our sight.

I stood in front of Damien, staring at him as he stared back at me.

“Give us space,” his gaze snapped to the side as he ordered his guard, who bowed and quickly obeyed the order.

Damien turned his gaze back to me, and he smirked. “Here comes my virgin wife who got pregnant with the lord Jesus”

I gulped. Of course, the secrets I've tried so hard to keep have been revealed, and everything has been brought to light.

“I didn't say the vows. We didn't slide the rings on. We didn't complete the wedding, so we are not married,” I said, my tone harsh and making emphasis.

He laughed for a short while. “Is that what you think?”

My voice rose immediately, calm and cautious. “That's what it is”

“Why are you here, Damien?” I asked.

“I heard you were being kept here,” he said. “I'm finding out it's true, and I'm here to take you back,” he added.

“Are you really pregnant?” He asked.

I stared at a blank space for a while before I darted my gaze back to him. “Yes”

There was no point in lying because he already knows, and I won't be denying my child. I'm carrying one, yes, I am.

“Who is the father of the child?” He asked.

“You don't need to know that, Damien,” I said, standing firm on my voice and words.

That wasn't really the response the question deserved; it was the fact that I didn't know who the father was.

“I don't think I want to go back with you,” I took a deep breath. “I'm pregnant with another man's child, you won't want to father the baby, and I won't be aborting my child”

Damien took a deep breath. “I'll marry you and the baby”

My eyes widened. “What?”

I couldn't bring myself to believe he just said that.

“I don't care whose baby it is. I'm ready to treat him or her as mine,” he said.

I parted my lips to speak, but no words came. I would never have expected this from Damien.

I stayed silent for a while, thinking about what to do. If I return to Damien's mansion, then Dad would have me again.

He's still planning to take over the human territory; he has plans to kill the president and his son or make them miserable, I don't know which.

If I don't want to be a part of that game he's playing, then I shouldn't return to Damien. If that's the case, then the vampire's coven here will be my salvation.

I'm starting to realize that a lot of them are nice and good people. Even Maverick was.

I could exist happily among them here despite being a werewolf, can't I?

I shook my head, dismissing the thoughts. I must be crazy. He killed werewolves! Innocent ones who did nothing to harm his Coven!

Stupid, Hazel! You want to stay in the Coven of the man who mercilessly killed your mother?

“The vampire lord would not let me go,” I said.

I didn't know if that was a mere excuse or if it was the truth, because Ethan Lyrik was really serious about not wanting to let me go.

“I'll be back for you, Hazel. I'll make sure to get you out of here,” he said.

“I'll be waiting,” I replied to him, our gazes locked onto each other.

He left with Baci while I watched him leave. My heart was thumping faster.

Damien Cian had just made a promise. A part of me wished he wouldn't keep that promise, but another part of me sincerely wished he would.

I hate it. Staying in the same space as the murderer of my mother.
