Chapter 131 FAR FROM OVER
Chapter 131 FAR FROM OVER
LUNA LEENA POV
The first light of morning filtered gently through the curtains. I woke up in Damian’s arms, my head resting on his chest. His steady heartbeat should have calmed me, but the nightmare still clung to me like a heavy shadow. I could still see Gotham chasing me through the dark path. I could still hear her screaming for my body. My skin felt cold even though his warmth surrounded me.
I tried to hide it. I stayed still, breathing slowly, pretending I was still asleep. But Damian knew me too well. His hand gently stroked my back, and he spoke softly.
“You’re awake,” he murmured. “And you’re scared. I can feel it through the bond.”
I let out a shaky breath and hugged him tighter, burying my face in his neck. “I had another nightmare. She was chasing me again. She wanted my body. She said she would take everything you, the children, the pack. It felt so real. I keep thinking… what if she comes back? What if I’m not strong enough to keep her out?”
Damian shifted so he could look at me. His eyes were full of love and quiet strength. He cupped my face with one hand, his thumb brushing my cheek.
“She’s gone, Leena,” he said firmly. “We sent her away. You fought her with everything you had, and you won. Our bond, our children’s light it was stronger than her darkness. She can’t come back. I won’t let her.”
I nodded, but the fear still sat heavy in my chest. “I know. But sometimes I still feel her. Like a shadow inside me. I’m scared I might hurt you or the children again.”
“You won’t,” he whispered. He leaned in and kissed me softly. The kiss was tender at first, full of reassurance. But as our lips moved together, the fear slowly melted away. I kissed him back, needing his closeness, needing to feel that I was truly here with him. His hands moved gently over my back, pulling me closer until there was no space between us.
We stayed like that for a long time kissing, holding each other, whispering soft words of love. His touch was gentle but full of longing. Every caress reminded me that I was safe. That I was loved. That I was home.
After a while, I pulled back slightly and looked into his eyes. My hand moved down to my belly. I hadn’t told him yet. The words felt important, like a new beginning after so much darkness.
“Damian…” I said softly. “There’s something else. When Gotham was in control… I felt it. I’m pregnant. We’re going to have another pup.”
He went completely still. His eyes widened with shock, then filled with pure joy. He placed his hand gently over my belly, his palm warm against my skin.
“A pup?” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “We’re having another child?”
I nodded, smiling through happy tears. “Yes. I felt the first signs while she was inside me. I was so scared she would hurt the baby. But our little one is still there. Strong and safe.”
Damian’s eyes shone with tears. He leaned down and kissed my belly softly, reverently. “Hello, little one,” he whispered. “This is your daddy. I can’t wait to meet you. You are already so loved.”
He looked up at me, his expression full of joy but also worry. “After everything you’ve been through… are you okay? Is the baby okay? I don’t want you pushing yourself too hard.”
“I’m okay,” I said, placing my hand over his. “The healer checked me yesterday. The baby is strong. But I will take it easy. I promise.”
Damian pulled me into his arms again and held me tightly. We stayed like that, talking softly about names and dreams for our new child. The fear from the nightmare slowly faded, replaced by warmth and hope.
……..
The morning sun felt warmer than it had in many days as I stood in the center of the main town square. The entire pack had gathered. Hundreds of eyes watched me with a mixture of hope, fear, and uncertainty. Damian stood beside me, his hand gently resting on my lower back for support. The children were safe at the palace with trusted guards. I had asked them to stay behind because I didn’t want them to see the pain I was about to face.
I took a deep breath and stepped forward. My voice carried across the square as I began to speak.
“Today, I have come to make things right,” I said, my voice steady even though my heart was racing. “Many of you were hurt because of what happened while a dark spirit controlled my body. I am truly sorry for the pain and fear you all went through. I know words cannot undo what was done, but I will do everything in my power to heal the wounds.”
I raised my hand and signaled the guards behind me. A long line of young boys some as young as sixteen began walking into the square. They looked tired but relieved. Behind them came the elders and the sick ones who had been taken to the temple for Gotham’s planned sacrifice. They moved slowly, some supported by others, but they were alive.
Mothers cried out in joy and ran forward to hug their sons. Families reunited with tears and laughter. Old men and women were embraced by their children and grandchildren. The square filled with the sound of crying, laughing, and grateful voices. I watched with tears in my eyes as people held their loved ones tightly, as if afraid they might disappear again.
One mother fell to her knees in front of her son, sobbing as she touched his face. “My boy… you’re back. You’re really back.”
I felt my chest tighten with emotion. These were the people I had sworn to protect. And for a while, I had failed them.
Next, I ordered the guards to bring forward the materials Gotham had prepared for her dark ritual. Large piles of strange herbs, black stones, ancient symbols drawn on parchments, and ritual tools were carried into the center of the square. I stepped closer and looked at the items with disgust.
“Burn it all,” I said firmly. “Everything that was prepared for that evil ritual must be destroyed.”
The guards poured oil over the piles and set them on fire. Flames rose high into the sky, crackling loudly as they consumed the dark preparations. Black smoke curled upward. I watched the fire burn, feeling a small weight lift from my shoulders. This was one step toward erasing what Gotham had done.
When the fire died down to glowing embers, I turned back to the people. My voice was clear and strong.
“I promise you all,” I said, looking into as many eyes as I could, “nothing like this will ever happen again. I will protect this pack with everything I have. You are safe now. Your families are safe. I will never let darkness take control again. If you no longer trust me as your Luna, I will understand. But I ask for the chance to prove myself to you once more.”
For a moment, the square was silent. Then a single voice rang out.
“Hail the Luna!”
“Hail the Luna!”
“Hail our true Luna!”
The chant grew louder until the entire pack was shouting together. The sound wrapped around me like a warm blanket. Tears fell down my cheeks as I bowed deeply to them.
“Thank you,” I whispered. “Thank you for giving me another chance.”
Some of the young boys who had been taken for training stepped forward. One of them, a tall sixteen-year-old, spoke clearly.
“Luna, we want to continue serving the pack,” he said. “Not because we were forced, but because we want to protect our home. We want to be part of the real army under you and Alpha Damian.”
Several other boys nodded in agreement. My heart swelled with pride and gratitude.
“Then you will train properly,” I said, smiling through my tears. “With honor and purpose. Not for conquest, but for protection.”
The people cheered again. Families hugged tighter. I felt Damian’s hand on my back, steady and warm. He leaned close and whispered in my ear.
“You did well, my love. They still believe in you.”
I turned to him and smiled.
…..
I walked into our chambers feeling completely drained. The day had been long visiting the people, reassuring the families, and trying to show the pack that their real Luna had returned. My body ached, and my mind was tired from carrying so much guilt and responsibility. I barely made it to the bed before collapsing onto it with a heavy sigh.
Damian followed me inside and closed the door gently. He lay down beside me without saying a word at first. He pulled me close, wrapping his strong arms around my waist. I turned toward him and rested my head on his chest, breathing in his familiar scent.
“You really need rest,” he said softly, his hand gently rubbing my back. “Especially because of the baby. You have been pushing yourself too hard these past few days.”
I smiled weakly and nodded. “I know. But the pack… they need to see that I’m still here for them.”
Damian kissed the top of my head. “They know. But right now, our little one needs you to take care of yourself.”
We both laughed softly. The sound felt light and healing after everything we had been through. Damian shifted lower on the bed and gently placed his head on my belly. His ear pressed against the small bump that was just starting to show.
“Hello, little one,” he whispered. “This is your daddy. I can’t wait to meet you.”
I watched him with a soft smile. Then suddenly, I felt it a small, strong kick against my belly, right where Damian’s head was resting.
Damian’s eyes widened in surprise. He lifted his head slightly, then laughed happily.
“Did you feel that?” he asked, grinning like a child. “Our baby just kicked!”
I laughed too, placing my hand over the spot. “I felt it. He or she is already strong.”
Damian lowered his head again, kissing my belly gently. “I can’t wait to meet you,” he whispered. “You are going to be so loved. Your big brothers and sister are waiting for you. And your mummy and daddy… we love you already.”
We stayed like that for a while, talking softly about names and dreams for our new child.
Then the door suddenly opened without a knock.
A guard rushed in, breathing heavily, his face pale and covered in sweat. He looked like he had run the entire way from the border.
“What is going on?” Damian asked sharply, sitting up quickly. “Why didn’t you knock?”
“I am sorry, Alpha,” the guard said, still trying to catch his breath. “But I have bad news. Very bad news.”
I sat up beside Damian, my heart already beating faster. “What is it?”
The guard swallowed hard before speaking.
“Thousands of armies are approaching our border. They are led by Lord Kael and a man wearing an eye patch.”
“Kael and Kieran,” Damian and I said at the same time, our voices filled with shock.
The room fell silent for a moment. The peace we had just been enjoying vanished in an instant. I felt a cold fear settle in my stomach. After everything we had gone through with Gotham, another war was coming.
Damian’s face hardened. He stood up quickly, his protective instincts kicking in.
“Prepare the defenses,” he ordered the guard. “Send word to all our warriors. We will meet them before they reach our walls.”
The guard bowed and rushed out. Damian turned to me, his eyes full of worry but also determination.
“We knew this day might come,” he said, taking my hand. “But we are stronger now. We will face them together.”
I nodded, even though fear still gripped my heart. Our family had survived
so much already. But the thought of Kael and Kieran bringing war to our home made everything feel uncertain again.
The fight was far from over.
