Chapter 68
Chapter 68
Evelyn’s POV
I don’t remember how many times we went that night, but by the next morning I was already exhausted. We both fell asleep later that morning, tightly enwrapped in each other’s arms.
I didn’t remember falling asleep, until I felt the brightness of the sunlight spill through the tall windows, slapping me across my face.
I groaned softly, turning away from the brightness, and hiding my face in the sweet scent of my mate, who I now realized was beside me.
My body aced deliciously in all the right places, a reminder of the blissful night we had enjoyed together. I felt Damon’s arms around me, he was holding me in place, as though I would disappear if he let me go even for a moment.
My lips curved up slightly. I rested my head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart, that somehow made me feel a lot more special than I ever expected.
I opened my eyes to look at him, I couldn’t help but notice how different, how calm he looked in his sleep. His rough edge was gone, and was replaced with this gentle beautiful look of a harmless Greek god, so handsome that my heart skipped a beat. His dark lashes rested softly against his cheeks, a bit longer than what I felt was normal, and his lips were slightly parted in the most peaceful expression I’d ever seen on him.
Goddess, how I want time to stop at this exact moment. I want to treasure this moment for a very long time.
I reached out, gently tracing the lines of his chest lazily with my fingers, sighing as I felt the hardness of his chest. I couldn’t help my thoughts drifting away from the sensation.
This was surely what peace felt like, this was love. He was mine.
But no matter how much I wanted to delay this moment a lot longer, a knock came on the door, breaking through the peace and quiet.
Damon stirred beneath me. In the next second, his eyes blinked open, and I found myself staring into his golden iris, temporarily lost in its beauty.
Damon’s lips curved up slightly, his lips moved as though he wanted to say something, but then a voice called out from the door, cutting through his intended words.
“Alpha,” the voice sounded urgent. “They’re ready for you…… and the Luna.” That wasn’t Dylan’s voice, that’s for sure, but I couldn’t make out who.
The Luna, that means I was going out too. Why didn’t I think of that before?
Damon groaned, a low sound that sent a vibration through his chest, as he pulled me closer. Then, he crashed our lips together, in a deep and slow kiss. When he broke the kiss finally, I felt drowsy and light headed, but in a good way.
When I opened my eyes, he was staring at me with a small smile playing at the corner of his lips. “Are you still tired, my love?” He murmured against my lips.
I smiled widely. “I am exhausted.” I replied in a whisper, “But I’ll be fine.”
Damon smirked, his fingers caressing my face. “You’re going to be officially introduced to the pack today. Would you be alright?”
The smile disappeared from my face. I seriously am not so thrilled about the idea. He noticed the change in my mood, and sat up too, revealing his muscular chest.
“What’s wrong love?” His finger reached under my chin, and he slowly turned my face to look at him, his two hands going to each side of my face, as he scanned me over with his eyes.
My eyes fell. “I…. I don’t know. I just don’t know how to do any of this. I mean, it’s a lot easier for you, you were born to be an Alpha, but i… I am just…. Me.”
I don’t know how that sounded, but my heart tightened after I said the last word. I wasn’t just nervous, I just felt this stricken doubt as though reminding me that I am nothing but a lowly omega, who by some miracle got mated to someone as powerful as Damon.
My heart sank at the last thought.
Damon’s gaze softened, and then he leaned in, pecking me on my cheek. Our eyes met, and his eyes held mine in a gaze that I couldn’t take my eyes from.
“You are my mate, you are my other half Love, you are my Luna, and that makes you everything.” He rested his forehead softly against mine, closing his eyes as he held me there, our breathes mixing up.
My heart began racing, and my eyes shut on their own. It felt as though his strength and confidence was somehow slipping into me, or maybe it was just his words that had a way of warming up my heart.
I felt a lot better, more than I had felt for a long time. He opened his eyes, and then he planted a soft kiss against my forehead, and then on the tip of my nose.
“I love you.” He whispered, and I flushed. I just can’t still get used to him saying those words to me, it felt strange, like a part of a perfect dream I wouldn’t want to wake from.
My lips moved on their own accord. “I love you too.” I whispered, and then I felt him smile.
He kissed my lips softly, gently nibbing on them, but just when I thought he was going to deepen the kiss, he pulled away, a teasing smile playing on his lips.
“As much as I want us to stay on that bed all day and eat away at each other, we both have a meeting to catch. It wouldn’t be a good look to keep our subjects waiting for so long, especially when they are all eager to meet you.” He told me, stretching.
I wanted to kill him for that, but with that smirk on his lips, it was impossible to hold any grudge against him.
He leaned forward, and suddenly pulled me up from the bed as though I wayed nothing. I let out a surprised sound, quickly wrapping my arms around his neck to steady myself.
“Let’s get you washed up Luna.”
