Chapter 54 I needed to fix this.
Chapter 54 I needed to fix this.
Leona
I let Rain take the lead and run wherever she wanted. She felt the same pain I did, but she could handle it better while moving, so I stopped fighting and just let my heart break while she ran for us.
A loud snarl came from straight ahead. Rain stopped so fast she stumbled backward and fell onto her side.
Rogue. He stood right in our way.
I looked at Arel's wolf and showed my teeth, growling at him before I jumped and slammed into him with everything I had.
Rogue did not even move. He did not try to dodge. He just stood there like a wall.
I stepped back and threw myself at him again, screaming with my growls. Still nothing. He did not budge.
One more time, I backed up and gave him a warning growl. Then he dropped his head to the ground, his nose touching the dirt like he was saying sorry. He let out a sad sounding growl before shifting into his human form.
I kept my wolf teeth showing and snarled at him, my paws scraping the ground, getting ready to launch at him while he was naked. But he got there first and used his Alpha voice. "Shift!"
I clenched my teeth and fought against his command until I could not anymore. Then I was back in my human body.
I jumped up, shaking all over, and ran at him. Anger burned through me as I punched his chest and his jaw and anywhere my hands could reach.
"I hate you! I hate you! I fucking hate you!" He raised his hands and grabbed my wrists to stop me. He put my palms on his chest and spoke in a calm voice. "Please let me explain!"
"No! No! No! I am done! I do not want this anymore! I do not deserve this! You are an asshole in every way possible! You flirted with me and I actually thought we were getting somewhere! Well guess what, Leona! The great Alpha was just in a good mood this morning because his girlfriend was coming!" I screamed at him, my voice full of anger and jealousy.
I pulled my hands out of his grip and wiped my tears off my face before turning around and walking away.
"Fuck, Leona! Can you at least let me talk? I did not kiss her! She kissed me! I pushed her away, otherwise I would not be here!" He yelled back at me.
I stopped walking and turned to face him. "Do you really think using the same excuse again will work? Then fuck you!" I made fists with my hands and got ready for whatever happened next.
"I, Absaline Leona Montrell, reject you Alpha..." I shouted right in his face. In a few angry steps he was in front of me and stopped me from finishing the rejection.
Anger rolled off him like heat. He grabbed my arms and pulled me close. Before I could understand what he was doing, his lips pressed into mine and sparks exploded through my whole body. His mouth felt so warm and good that even with all the anger inside me, his kisses started breaking down my walls.
But this had to stop. He could not fucking play with me anymore.
I put my hands on his bare chest and tried to push him off, but he just held me tighter. I closed my mouth so he could not keep kissing me, and grabbed his face trying to push it away. I failed again.
That was when I felt tears on my face. But I knew I was not crying anymore.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked at him. He must have felt me stop pushing. He pulled his mouth away from mine, tears running down his face while his eyes were still closed. Then he sank to his knees. His hands slid down my arms as he knelt in front of me. He put his face against my bare stomach and cried harder, wrapping his strong arms around my waist.
He was crying on his knees while I stood there not knowing what to do.
"Please do not do this, Leona. Do not. Do not reject me." He said it so quiet, between his sobs.
My heart broke into pieces. I felt so confused. What just happened?
I pulled his hands off my waist and stepped back away from him. I almost rejected him.
Still confused, I turned and started running, shifting halfway and letting Rain take over again.
A loud growl tore through the forest. The ground shook under my feet. Birds flew up from the trees, breaking the quiet of the territory. But Rain did not stop running. She kept going, not caring about people staring at us as we ran home.
I stopped fast and shifted back to my human form as soon as I reached our house. Ethan came out the door with a blanket and hurried over to cover me up.
"Are you okay?" He asked, worry all over his face. I could tell he wanted to ask more but held himself back.
When we walked inside, I saw my dad standing at the bottom of the stairs. I forgot he was home today. He did not say anything, but I could see the pain in his eyes. I stopped at the stairs and gave him a sad smile.
"I am not okay, Dad, but I will be. I just want to be alone today if that is alright?" I admitted, my voice cracking.
My dad nodded and stepped forward, wrapping me in a big hug. My tears started falling again. I put my arms around him and cried into his shirt for a long time.
"It is okay, sweetheart. Take all the time you need. Ethan and I will be here when you want to talk." He said softly, trying to comfort me. Then he let me go and wiped the tears off my face.
"I love you, my Leona. We love you. And whatever you decide to do, I will support you." I smiled weakly and nodded before walking up the stairs with my head down and my heart still hurting.
"Leona, I am sorry. I should not have brought you home. I should have let you stay in Atlanta." I heard Ethan speak. His voice sounded so full of regret.
I turned around and looked at my brother. His fists were clenched tight, trying to hold back his emotions.
"I chose to come home, Ethan. This will never be your fault. Do not be so hard on yourself." I gave him a weak smile before I kept walking upstairs.
I walked quietly into my room and locked the door. I laid down in my bed, pulled the blanket over me, and curled up inside it. I closed my eyes and prayed to the Moon Goddess to take the pain away and let me heal soon.
Arel
I did not know how long I had been drinking. But no matter how much alcohol I put in my body, I still could not forget how close she came to rejecting me.
She wanted to reject me. She was going to do it if I had not stopped her.
I threw the glass in my hand at the wall in front of me. It shattered right away. This was not the first time I broke glasses in my office. And like last time, it was because of her.
I walked out of the room and headed for the indoor gym, ignoring everyone I passed. I needed to let out all this anger. If I did not hit something, I knew I would hit someone.
I slammed the door open and told everyone to get out. I pulled my shirt off and walked straight to the punching bags. Within seconds, the gym was empty. The only sound was my footsteps.
I flexed my arms and started hitting the bag with all my strength. I kept hitting it over and over, not caring about my knuckles bleeding. I did not stop until all the sand fell out. Then I moved to the next bag and did the same thing, waiting to feel numb. But it was taking fucking forever.
My head turned toward the door the second it opened. David and Finn walked in and came straight to me. I scowled at them before looking back at the bag I was destroying. They were the last people I wanted to see right now.
"Enough, Arel!" Did my Beta just try to order me? I snorted and ignored him. I punched harder.
"Elder Garett told me you did not show up to get the journals at lunch. I picked them up." David spoke in a calm voice. I wondered how he could be so calm after I made his daughter cry again. If I were him, I would have punched me already.
I did not stop hitting the bag, but I slowed down. "She wanted to reject me. She almost did. I just stopped her." I told him in a low voice, like a little boy telling his dad about getting picked on. I stopped punching and put my forehead against the bag, holding it still with both hands. "I almost lost her."
"And you will lose her completely if you do not get yourself together." David grabbed my wrist and turned me around to face him. "Come on. Go take a shower. You smell like alcohol. Clean yourself up and we will talk more in your office."
He was right. I needed to fix this.
I kept my head down and let David point me toward the door while my Beta handed me my shirt. I pulled it on and followed them as we walked back to the pack house.
