Chapter 18 MAKE ME PREGNANT
Chapter 18 MAKE ME PREGNANT
Kristan's expression darkened. "Huh? Really? So he wants to ruin her family? What a jerk."
I shrugged, hiding my smirk. "Probably."
From the corner of my eye, I saw Rare's clenched fists.
I stuck my tongue out at him. "Bleh."
When we got to the locker room, Kristan was suddenly called by a patient, so he had to leave me behind.
Inside, I was about to put my things away when the door suddenly shut.
Rare was standing there. He followed me!
"What are you doing here?" I snapped.
"What do you think you'redoing?" he shot back.
"Putting my things away. Obviously."
"Is he your boyfriend?" he demanded suddenly.
"Who?"
"Dr. Laspiatio."
I smirked. "Why? Jealous?"
"Answer me." His jaw clenched.
"He's my baby," I teased. "Why? Are you jealous? Because your 'beb' already has a family, right? Poor you!
Before he could even react, I quickly ran out.
___
AT THE PEDIATRIC ward, I was watching over Baby Jeco, who was suffering from dengue. His mom went out to buy medicine and food, which is why I was left here alone.
As I softly hummed him to sleep, the door opened.
Rare again.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I'm here for my wallet." Oh right.
"Oh, really? I wonder where it is," I teased.
"I know I left it in your condo."
"Fine. I'll give it later. Now leave—you'll wake the baby, Doc Grison.." I sarcastically said.
He deeply sighed. didn't say anything. Instead, he stayed.
I bit my lips and rolled my eyes. When Jeco started crying, I rushed to prepare milk—but before I could return, Rare was already holding him, gently adjusting the IV.
He looked... natural.
Calm. Careful.
Almost... soft.
I caught myself staring.
When he glanced at me, I quickly looked away.
Why was he so... attractive like this?
I didn't realize I had been staring at him until Jeco's mother arrived.
"Oh, sorry for disturbing you, Nurse Atarah... Thank you so much for taking care of my son.." She looked at me and to Rare's place.
"Oh, Doc, you're here. Is there any problem?"
"I'm just accompanying Nurse Atarah for now. I'm not Jeco's primary attending doctor , but after reviewing his medical records, I noted an improvement in his platelet count. I've also made the necessary adjustments to his IV fluid management."
"Thank you, Doc and Nurse!" he said gratefully.
"No worries, Maam! We'll go now.."
I dragged him out of the room, he smirked.
"Wow, you really miss touching me, huh?"
"Shut up!" I was about to walk a way. He suddenly grabbed my hand.
"It's lunch. Let's go."
"I already have someone—"
"One more word, and I'll kiss you."
"What?!"
Before I could react—
He did.
My eyes widened as his lips met mine.
Warm. Familiar.
Infuriating.
He pulled away, grinning. "You're blushing."
"Damn you, Rare Cedrick!"
I stormed off, my heart racing. Panic set in as I quickly looked around—so far, no one was there. But I felt even more nervous when I noticed the CCTV camera pointed directly at us.
___
WHEN THE NIGHT finally came my phone suddenly buzzed, breaking the silence and pulling my attention away from everything I was doing.
Two unread messages from Mom.
| "Hey Ath, come home first tonight. Have dinner here." |
| "We have a guest—the child of your Dad's best friend. I want you to meet him. I'm sure you two will get along." |
I lowered my phone and rolled my eyes. Get along? Ugh, what a meddling little matchmaker these person is.
First, I didn't even want to go to that dinner. Knowing my family, they'd probably embarrass me again, lecturing me about still not having a boyfriend because I supposedly haven't moved on from Charl. And worst-case scenario? They'd probably throw me straight to Rare.
Second, Akisha and Charl would definitely be there. No thanks—I didn't want to deal with them. Take note: I have moved on. I'm not bitter!
I took a deep breath and grabbed my things from the locker. Once I had everything, I stepped out—and almost ran into Rare, who was leaning against the wall, crouched slightly.
He was wearing a white long-sleeved polo, sleeves neatly rolled up, and black pants. Fresh. Clean. Sharp.
I shot him a glare and started walking faster, but I immediately felt him grab my arm.
"What now?" I muttered, pulling back. Boy, tss. Did he really think this made him look cool?
"Let's go together. I don't know where is your house.."
I knew it. He was the guy my mom had been talking about. Seriously? Me and Rare? Akisha and Charl? EX to EX?
I snapped. "Why together? Don't you have waze? I'll send our location.."
"I didn't bring my car..." He bit his lip and casually rested a hand on the back of my neck.
"Oh, now that's my problem?"
"Yep, let's go. Are you going to take me along and drive me, or should I tell everyone that you tried to rape—because you want my... sperm so badly?" he teased, grinning so widely that I couldn't help but smack him.
So rude!
"Shut up! AaAaAa! That's not funny! And that joke is so offensive! I hate you! Fine, I'll drive you, but I'm not going to that dinner. I'll just drop you off," I snapped. I stomped ahead, and he followed.
"Akisha is there..." he muttered quietly, and I couldn't help but smirk.
"Exactly why I don't want to go. She'll be there—and her husband too." I blurted it out and immediately regretted it. Did I just sound bitter? Tss.
"Why? Are you two not okay?" He squinted at me playfully.
"Duh, for your information, her husband is my EX... or should I say, my fiancé?"
"What? Seriously? Nice twist," he said with that annoying grin of his.
"Okay, are we done? Geez, come on." I rushed ahead toward the parking lot.
I got into my car, and he slid into the front seat, still grinning like he had been all morning.
"Hey, stop grinning! It's annoying!" I scolded.
"Still bitter about your ex, huh?" he teased, raising an eyebrow.
"Wow, coming from you 'beb'. You're the one still in love with my sister, ha." He went quiet and avoided my gaze, and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahaha, speechless, huh? Poor you!"
"How can you be sure I'm still in love with her, huh?" He leaned closer, and I didn't flinch—just gave him a teasing smirk.
I could smell his breath—minty. I had been chewing mint-flavored bubble gum earlier, and now I was jealous of his fresh scent.
"Secret," I whispered, our breaths mingling, sure he could smell the mint too.
"I'm not in love with her anymore." He leaned back, fastened his seatbelt.
"Liar, jerk!" I grinned and started the car.
The drive was quiet except for the music. He kept his eyes closed, pretending to sleep, but I kept sneaking glances at him. Even exhausted, he still somehow looked ridiculously handsome.
I didn't bother him, letting him rest until we arrived at the mansion.
"Hey, we're here," I said. His eyes opened, and I swallowed hard—those slightly mischievous, sparkling eyes of his. Damn it. Only in novels did men look that stunning.
Charl was handsome too, no doubt—but Rare had that... pull. Always.
"Get out, and good luck. Don't make a scene—my niece is here," I reminded him. Of course, I didn't care about their feelings, but if my niece was involved, he and I could very well go to war.
"Uh... of course, I'm not immature. Let's go." He adjusted himself, ready to open the car door.
"What 'let's go'? I said I'm not coming." I said firmly.
"Join me. I have a plan..." He smiled, and I paused, curious for a moment, but quickly shook my head.
"I don't care about your plan. Out!"
"Please... just cooperate with me..." He sounded so earnest. Almost pitiful.
Could I really say no? He was kind of irresistible. It would be torture for him to watch the person he loved happy with her family—but, of course, torture for me too. Hays, destiny really loves messing with us.
"Just make sure I benefit from this plan, okay?" I smirked, and he quickly pressed a playful smack on my lips, making my body stiffen in surprise.
