“Find?” Diane said from the ground. “You underestimate me, Harkov,” she said. “I made it in my sleep,” she said.
Melissa smiled, in their last meeting, she'd shown Melissa a runestone that could rewrite every single spell her daughter had casted. The dream world meeting that day had been the shortest. It had happened the moment she got captured by Harkov and she had fallen unconscious. Diane came to her saying this was the last time she would be able to work up the energy to come through her dreams and if she wasn't saved she would actually die.
She said she'd expended most of her energy conjuring a rune on a stone wall that could take down her daughter's spell nature. She said she knew what the Oracles were having her do and that she was ready to give her life for her.
Luckily for them the Infernal had made sure she didn't die. “So do you want to keep talking about the plan or do I just handcuff you as a national terrorist now?” Ivar asked.
“I want to hear,” Harkov said.
“The demon wolf, Richard, actually protested against the plan to use Melissa as cannon fodder. I mean I wouldn't be apprehensive of my mate being used as a death trap, but I know that would go way over your head Harkov, because you are so used to stabbing your friend's back that you have no soul anymore,” he said with a chuckle.
“It is a lovely sentiment you have,” Harkov retorted. “But keep speaking,” he said.

Richard smiled and then began. “Mostly the plan was insane when he brought it down. He planned to strike you with multiple diversions and the first one was Melissa. He knew you wouldn't kill her right off, you'd leave her alive as a bargaining chip and also because you couldn't kill the daughter of the love of your life,” he said.

Richard glanced at Melissa. “Oh yeah,” he nodded. “I discovered it when I came back to life after almost dying transporting those wolves to the palace. Harkov was in love with your mother. That was why he helped Ronald and the council of elders orchestrate their death. Of course he wasn't involved directly, he only helped Ronald out with whispers and silent words here and there,” he said. “He is a master manipulator after all. It was easy for him to manipulate the scenes from behind.”
“I don't get,” Melissa furrowed her brows, her emotion swirling with anger. “If he was in love with my mom, why the hell would he kill her?”
“Because, if I can't have her child. No one can. And especially not Greydon,” he said. “You'd never understand how it feels to be stuck in the shadow of the golden child. He was the first born of the pure Dunham family and even though I was talented enough to be king they made me a counselor for his court. I fought my way to become the regional leader I am now,” he said.
“Well was that before or after you burned my people to ashes,” Diane asked.
Then it all clicked in Melissa's head. Harkov had been the one behind the scenes all along navigating every step and twisting nations to act accordingly to his will. He burned down the witch town, which they were now standing in and then started the Oracle to govern the world from behind the scenes. All he wanted was power. Unlimited power. “You are just a power hungry maniac,” Melissa said.
“Oh, please,” Harkov said. “I will not be educated by a girl who needs lifetimes to understand herself,” he said.
Melissa was taken aback. “How did you know that?” He said.
“I had a witch to myself for years, you didn't think I would ask her things?” He said. “When I saw your actions in the throne room and how they contrasted your initial behavior. I sort the witch and she told me that you have two lives,” he said. “Please Demon wolf, continue your story,” he said.

You resorted to trickery instead of throwing your full night at us because you'd converted your might to somewhere else.” Richard smiled.
“What?” Harkov said. “You knew that your queen was a diversion?” Just as the question was asked gy Harkov, Richard's phone rings.
He picked it up and let everyone hear what the person had to say. “This is Hance over?” He said. “We have secured Vance and taken down the soldier's network. Nathaniel's Realization Gas worked like magic,” Hance said through the phone.
“Realization gas?” He asked with a furrowed brow. He seemed confused about the entire situation
“Yes,” Beatrice replied. “It counters the effect of Clarissa's brainwashing, and half of your army was made up of this, they surrendered already,” she said with a smile.
“What about this puppet in my hand,” he said. “You might have halted my plan but Diane you still die today,” just as he said this, he flicked out a knife and buried it into the body of the puppet as Clarissa screamed. “Mom!” She rushed forward.
