Chapter192 What the hell is this?
Margaret POV
"Are you sure they're at that hot spring resort?" I asked Alexander as we approached the crowd.
"Absolutely," he replied. "The whole place is booked out, completely private. Only Nikolai would make such a big show of it. Probably cost him a fortune just to impress that bitch."
"Good,Then they won't be able to hide from what's coming."
Alexander stepped forward and raised his hands for quiet. The crowd gradually settled, all eyes focused on him.
"Thank you all for coming," he called out, his voice carrying across the group. "Thank you for standing with us today. What we're doing here isn't just for ourselves. It's for all of our futures. It's for the future of our children and our packs."
The crowd murmured agreement, and I felt a surge of pride. Even after everything we'd lost, people still respected Alexander. They still listened to him.
"We cannot stand by and watch as our Alpha King is led astray by a woman who has already proven herself to be a killer and a liar," Alexander continued, his voice growing stronger. "We cannot allow Nikolai to be manipulated by someone who destroyed one of our own."
"That's right!" someone shouted from the crowd.
"Marcus Stonecreek was a good man," Alexander said, his voice thick with emotion. "He was my son, and he deserved better than the fate that woman dealt him. She used him, deceived him, and when he discovered the truth about her bastard child, she killed him in cold blood."
The crowd was getting fired up now, voices rising in agreement and anger.
"And now she thinks she can come back and do the same thing to our Alpha King?" Alexander's voice was booming now. "She thinks she can fool us all again with her innocent act and her crocodile tears?"
"No!" the crowd shouted back.
"We have to make Nikolai see reason," Alexander continued. "We have to save him from making the same mistake Marcus did. We have to get him away from that bitch before she destroys him too!"
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, signs waving frantically in the air.
Aliya POV
I slowly opened my eyes and found Nikolai was already awake, holding Nova and helping her brush her teeth. The morning light streaming through the windows made everything feel peaceful and domestic.
Nova noticed I was awake and, with foam still in her mouth, mumbled a question that made my heart skip a beat. "Mommy, do I have a little brother or sister now?"
My face turned bright red from embarrassment. I could feel the heat rushing to my cheeks as memories from last night flooded back.
Nikolai quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "We're still working on it, sweetheart," he said gently, bouncing Nova in his arms.
Just thinking about our "efforts" last night made my face burn even hotter. "Nikolai, stop talking about it," I said quickly, pulling the covers up higher.
"Come on, Nova, let's go rinse your mouth," Nikolai said, carrying her toward the bathroom.
As they disappeared around the corner, I stretched and tried to shake off the embarrassment. But then something outside the window caught my attention. Dark shapes were moving around in groups, and I could hear distant voices.
I got up and walked to the window, pushing the curtains aside to get a better look. What I saw made my blood run cold.
There had to be at least a hundred people gathered outside the resort gates. They were holding signs and banners, shouting loud enough that I could hear them clearly even from the second floor.
"Get out of here, you bitch!"
"Stop destroying pack unity!"
"Alpha King deserves better!"
The signs they were holding made my stomach turn. Some had my face with red X's drawn over it. Others had words I couldn't even repeat written in bold letters across them.
Nikolai came back with Nova just as I stepped away from the window, and he immediately noticed something was wrong.
"Why do you look so pale?" he asked, setting Nova down on the bed. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
Nova looked up at me with curious eyes. "Mommy, what are those people saying outside? What does bitch mean?"
My heart sank. Of course she would hear them. Of course she would ask questions I didn't know how to answer.
Nikolai followed my gaze toward the window and moved to look outside himself. The moment he saw the crowd, his entire demeanor changed. His jaw clenched, his hands formed fists at his sides, and I could practically feel the anger radiating off him.
"What the hell is this?" he muttered, his voice low and dangerous.
