Chapter93 Whoever hurts Aliya dies.
Aliya POV
"Nova, sweetie, why don't you go play with your toys for a minute?" I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Mommy and Daddy need to talk."
"But I want to know what those people are doing," Nova protested.
"Go play, Nova. Now." Nikolai's voice was firm but not harsh. She must have sensed the tension in the room because she didn't argue any further.
Once Nova was distracted with her tablet in the corner, Nikolai turned back to the window. "This is insane. How did they even find us here?"
"I don't know," I said quietly. "But Nikolai, please don't do anything crazy. They're just upset people who"
"Just upset people?" Nikolai's voice was rising. "They're calling you a bitch in front of our daughter!"
Before I could stop him, Nikolai was moving toward the window. To my horror, he actually opened it and started climbing out onto the balcony.
"Nikolai, no!" I called after him. "Don't go down there! You'll just make things worse!"
But he was already lowering himself down from the balcony, using the decorative stonework to climb down to the ground level. I watched in panic as he dropped the last few feet and landed in the courtyard.
The crowd noticed him immediately. The shouting got louder, more chaotic.
Nikolai strode toward the gates with the kind of commanding presence that made it clear he was the Alpha King. Even from the window, I could see how every step radiated authority and barely controlled rage.
"What the hell are you people doing here?" his voice boomed across the courtyard.
The crowd fell silent for a moment. Then I saw several of Nikolai's gammas appearing from different directions, forming a protective circle around him. They must have been stationed around the perimeter of the resort.
Alexander Stonecreek stepped forward from the crowd. Even from my position at the window, I could recognize his distinctive gray hair and the way he carried himself.
"We're here because we're concerned about you, Nikolai," Alexander called out. "We're worried that you're being manipulated by that woman."
"Manipulated?" Nikolai's voice carried clearly in the morning air. "By who? My mate?"
"She's not your mate!" someone from the crowd shouted. "She's a killer!"
"She murdered Marcus!" another voice added.
The crowd started getting worked up again, voices overlapping as they hurled accusations.
Nikolai raised his hand and the crowd quieted slightly. "You people have lost your minds. You're trespassing on private property and disturbing the peace."
"We're trying to save you from making a terrible mistake," Alexander said. "That woman has already destroyed one good man. Don't let her destroy you too."
"The only mistake I see here is me allowing you people to disrespect my family," Nikolai replied coldly.
I could see his gammas tensing, ready to act on whatever order he might give.
"All of you," Nikolai addressed his gammas. "Arrest these people for disturbing the peace and inciting a riot."
"Nikolai, wait," Alexander said quickly. "Before you do something you'll regret, you should know that we're live streaming this entire conversation."
He held up his phone, and I could see the screen was indeed showing a live video feed.
"Thousands of people are watching right now," Alexander continued. "If you have us illegally arrested for peacefully protesting, it's going to look very bad for your reputation as Alpha King."
"You think this is a peaceful protest?" Nikolai gestured toward the crowd and their offensive signs. "You're harassing my family with hate speech."
"We're exercising our right to free speech," Alexander replied. "We have legitimate concerns about your judgment, and we're expressing them in a public forum."
"Sir," one of the gammas said quietly, "maybe we should contact the local authorities instead of handling this ourselves."
"The local authorities answer to me," Nikolai snapped. "I am the authority here."
"But the optics," the gamma pressed gently. "With the live stream"
"I don't give a damn about optics," Nikolai cut him off. His voice was getting louder, more dangerous. "I don't care about my reputation or what people think."
The crowd had gone quiet again, everyone straining to hear the exchange.
Alexander seemed to sense an opportunity. "Nikolai, you're letting your emotions cloud your judgment. This is exactly what we were worried about. She's making you irrational."
"Irrational?" Nikolai's laugh was harsh and cold. "What's irrational is you people showing up here to harass a woman and child."
"We're trying to protect you," Alexander insisted. "And we're trying to protect the integrity of the Alpha King position."
"The integrity of my position?" Nikolai took a step closer to the gate, and I could see his hands shaking with barely contained rage. "You want to know what threatens the integrity of my position? People like you who think they can tell me who I can and can't be with."
"She's a murderer, Nikolai," someone from the crowd shouted.
"She killed Marcus in cold blood!"
"She's using you just like she used him!"
The accusations kept coming, and I watched Nikolai's control slipping away completely.
"Enough!" he roared. "I've heard enough of this garbage!"
He turned to his gammas. "Arrest them all. Charge them with disturbing the peace, trespassing, and harassment."
"Nikolai," Alexander said urgently, still holding up his phone. "You're making a serious mistake. This is all being broadcast live. Illegally arresting peaceful protesters is going to destroy your credibility as a leader."
"This will ruin your reputation," another voice from the crowd added.
"Your own council won't support you if you do this."
"The other packs will lose respect for you."
But Nikolai's expression had gone beyond anger into something colder and more final.
"Let me make something crystal clear to all of you," he said, his voice carrying with deadly calm. "I don't care about my reputation. I don't care about my credibility. I don't care what the council thinks or what the other packs think."
The crowd had gone completely silent now, sensing the shift in his tone.
"If you insult Aliya, if you threaten her, if you so much as speak her name with disrespect," Nikolai continued, "you're dead."
