Chapter 204 The Shadow Sisters
POV: Luna
Two days later, they arrived.
The Shadow Sisters. A rival clique. Magical specialists. Powerful. Dangerous. Hostile.
They walked through Silverwood's gates like they owned the place. Six of them. All radiating dark magic. All wearing matching symbols.
"Who are they?" Nova asked.
"Trouble," I replied.
The Headmaster met them formally. "Welcome to Silverwood. You're here under Council directive. Magical exchange program. You'll be staying for the semester."
"We're aware," the leader said. Female. Tall. Confident. Intimidating. "We're here to observe. Learn. Assess."
"Assess what?"
"Whether Silverwood's reputation is deserved. Or exaggerated."
She looked at me. Direct. Challenging. Hostile.
"You must be Luna Eclipse. The famous Eclipse wolf. The one everyone talks about."
"That's me."
"I expected more. You look ordinary. Unremarkable. Weak."
"Looks can be deceiving."
"So can reputations. We'll see if yours is earned. Or fabricated."
Through my Eclipse senses, I felt her power. She was strong. Skilled. Dangerous.
But also insecure. Threatened. Afraid.
She saw me as competition. As a threat to her status. Her reputation.
"I'm Vivian," she said. "Leader of the Shadow Sisters. We specialize in dark magic. Forbidden techniques. Power most wolves fear to touch."
"Dark magic is dangerous. Corruptive. Unpredictable."
"Only to the weak. The untrained. We've mastered it. Controlled it. Made it ours."
"We'll see."
That evening, I was on patrol when they found me.
All six Shadow Sisters. Surrounding me. Blocking escape routes.
"Lost?" I asked calmly.
"No. We wanted to talk. Privately. Without your pack protecting you."
"I don't need protection from you."
"Confident. I like that. Let's test it."
Vivian channeled dark magic. Not attacking. Just demonstrating. Showing power.
It was impressive. Controlled. Sophisticated.
But also tainted. Corrupted. Wrong.
"You're playing with fire," I warned.
"We're mastering fire. There's a difference."
"Not when that fire consumes you from within."
"Spoken like someone afraid of real power. Comfortable with limitations. Accepting of weakness."
"Spoken like someone who doesn't understand that some powers aren't meant to be mastered. They're meant to be avoided."
The other Sisters laughed. Mocking. Dismissive.
"She's exactly what we expected," one said. "Self-righteous. Judgmental. Weak."
"We'll show her what real power looks like," another added.
They demonstrated together. Combined dark magic. Creating shadows. Manipulating reality. Bending rules.
It was powerful. Undeniable. Terrifying.
But also unstable. Dangerous. Barely controlled.
"Impressive," I admitted. "But reckless. One mistake and that power consumes you."
"We don't make mistakes."
"Everyone makes mistakes. Eventually."
Vivian stepped closer. Invasive. Threatening. "You're not what I expected, Eclipse. You're softer. Weaker. More ordinary. I thought you'd be impressive. Instead, you're disappointing."
"And you're exactly what I expected. Insecure. Overcompensating. Afraid of being forgotten."
Her eyes flashed. Angry. Threatened.
"Careful, Eclipse. We're not the It-Girls. We don't play games. We end threats. Permanently."
"Is that a threat?"
"That's a promise. Stay out of our way. Don't interfere with our work. Or you'll regret it."
They left. Melting into shadows. Disappearing.
I reported to my pack. Explained the encounter.
"They're dangerous," Sienna said. "Dark magic that controlled. That powerful. They've trained for years. Decades maybe."
"We need defensive preparations," Aria added. "Magical protections. Counter-measures."
"I'll work on wards," Lyric said. "Barriers specifically designed against dark magic."
We spent the night preparing. Building defenses. Watching. Waiting.
Then Caleb appeared. During my midnight patrol.
"The Shadow Sisters," he said. "They're not just a rival clique. They're connected to the architects. Recruited. Trained. Sent here specifically to destabilize you."
"How do you know?"
"Because I've encountered them before. Eastern Territories. They tried recruiting me. I refused. They don't forget. Don't forgive."
"What do they want?"
"To prove they're stronger than you. To discredit you. To show the Council that Eclipse wolves aren't special. Aren't necessary. Aren't worth protecting."
"So this is political."
"Everything's political. But it's also personal. Vivian hates you. Sees you as everything she's not. Naturally powerful. Respected. Loved."
"I'm not any of those things."
"You are. You just don't see it."
Through my Eclipse mark, I felt his certainty. His belief. His absolute conviction.
"How do you know their magic?" I asked. "Their techniques? You analyzed their demonstration. Understood it. Predicted it."
"Because I studied dark magic. Before rejecting it. Before choosing a different path. I know what they're doing. What they're building toward. And it's dangerous."
"Can you help? Counter their magic?"
"I can try. But they're skilled. Experienced. Ruthless. It won't be easy."
"Nothing ever is."
We worked together. Planning defenses. Analyzing threats. Preparing.
And I noticed. The way Caleb moved. The way he thought. The way he analyzed.
All familiar. All recognizable. All Miguel.
The more time I spent with him, the more certain I became.
Caleb wasn't just familiar. He was Miguel. Somehow. Impossibly. Undeniably.
But I couldn't say it. Couldn't ask. Couldn't confirm.
Not yet. Not without proof.
The next morning, I found it.
A sigil. Carved into the wall outside my dorm. Glowing. Pulsing. Threatening.
Dark magic. Shadow Sister work. Vivian's signature.
And underneath. A message.
Your time is ending, Eclipse. Ours is beginning. Prepare yourself.
The war with the Shadow Sisters had officially begun.
