Chapter 203 Council Summons

Chapter 203 Council Summons
POV: Luna
Three days after the rogue attack, a formal summons arrived.
The Wolf Council. Requesting Luna Eclipse and Princess Selene Moonshadow. Immediate consultation. Mandatory attendance.
"This is unusual," the Headmaster said. "The Council rarely summons students directly. Especially with such formality."
"What do they want?" I asked.
"Political and magical consultation. Officially. Unofficially? They want to assess you. Test your abilities. Determine if the rumors about your power are accurate."
"What rumors?"
"That you sealed an otherworld connection. Defeated multiple architect conspiracies. Survived impossible odds. Became the strongest Eclipse wolf in generations."
"Those aren't rumors. They're facts."
"Exactly. Which is why the Council is nervous. Powerful young wolves make elders uncomfortable. They want to ensure you're not a threat."
"I'm not."
"Then prove it. Answer their questions. Demonstrate control. Show them you're an asset, not a liability."
Selene and I traveled to the Council chambers. Located in neutral territory. Ancient. Intimidating. Powerful.
Twelve Council members sat in judgment. Alphas from various territories. Powerful. Influential. Skeptical.
"Luna Eclipse," the head councilor said. "Princess Selene Moonshadow. Thank you for attending."
"We had a choice?" I asked.
"Not really. But politeness costs nothing."
We stood before them. Evaluated. Judged. Assessed.
"We've received disturbing reports," another councilor said. "Increasing rogue attacks. Coordinated. Organized. Targeting Silverwood specifically."
"That's accurate," I confirmed.
"Why Silverwood? Why now? What's changed?"
"The architects. They're rebuilding. Recruiting. Planning. They view Silverwood as a threat. Specifically, they view me as a threat."
"Because of your Eclipse power?"
"Because I've stopped them before. Repeatedly. They want revenge. Or they want to control me. Use my power for their purposes."
"And you can't stop them? Can't eliminate this threat permanently?"
"We've tried. We've captured operatives. Disrupted conspiracies. Sealed otherworld connections. But the architects are vast. Deep. Entrenched. We're fighting symptoms, not the disease."
"Then perhaps the solution is simple. Remove the target. Remove you from Silverwood. Send you elsewhere. Eliminate the architects' motivation."
My blood ran cold. "You're suggesting I leave? Abandon my school? My pack? My friends?"
"We're suggesting you consider the greater good. If your presence endangers hundreds of students, perhaps relocation is prudent."
"No."
"Excuse me?"
"No. I won't abandon Silverwood. Won't run. Won't let the architects dictate my life through fear."
"That's admirable. But naive. Sometimes strategic retreat is necessary."
"Not this time."
Selene spoke up. "The Council underestimates what Luna and her pack have accomplished. They've defended Silverwood repeatedly. Saved countless lives. Stopped conspiracies that threatened reality itself. Suggesting she leave is cowardice disguised as strategy."
"Princess, with respect—"
"I'm not finished. Luna stays. I stay. Silverwood stays strong. We fight. We survive. We win. That's our answer. Our only answer."
Through the Guardian Bond, I felt her absolute certainty. Her loyalty. Her refusal to compromise.
The Council members exchanged looks. Uncomfortable. Challenged. Uncertain.
"Very well," the head councilor said. "You've made your position clear. Now demonstrate your abilities. Show us this power everyone speaks of."
"What do you want me to do?"
"Anything. Show us Eclipse magic. Prove you're worthy of the fear and respect you inspire."
I channeled power through my mark. Let Eclipse energy flow. Controlled. Precise. Powerful.
Silver light filled the chamber. Purifying. Cleansing. Overwhelming.
The Council members felt it. Recognized it. Feared it.
"Enough," the head councilor said. "We've seen sufficient proof."
I stopped. The light faded.
"Your power is impressive. Unprecedented. Concerning."
"Concerning how?"
"Power without accountability is dangerous. Who oversees you? Who ensures you don't become the next threat?"
"I oversee myself. My pack. My mate. My friends. We keep each other accountable. Honest. Grounded."
"Informal oversight. Unreliable."
"More reliable than political posturing and bureaucratic control."
The chamber fell silent. My defiance unexpected. Unwelcome.
Then the doors opened. A latecomer arriving.
Caleb Webber. Walking in like he belonged. Like he'd been invited.
"Mr. Webber," the head councilor said. "You're late."
"Apologies. I was detained. Unavoidable circumstances."
"You're here as delegate. Representing the Eastern Territories. Observing. Reporting back to your Council."
Delegate? Caleb was a Council delegate?
He took his seat. Among the observers. Among those judging me.
Our eyes met. Something passed between us. Recognition. Apology. Understanding.
He hadn't wanted to be here. Hadn't wanted this role. But duty demanded it.
"Continue," the head councilor said.
They questioned me for hours. About powers. About battles. About decisions. About everything.
I answered honestly. Completely. Refusing to hide or minimize.
Finally, they dismissed us. "We'll deliberate. Provide our assessment. Determine if intervention is necessary."
"Intervention meaning what?"
"Oversight. Restrictions. Relocation. Depending on what we determine is necessary for the greater good."
We left. Frustrated. Angry. Worried.
Outside, Caleb approached. "I'm sorry. I didn't know they'd summon you. Didn't know I'd be assigned as delegate."
"Why are you a delegate? You're a student."
"I'm also Eastern Territory heir. Future Alpha. Council representative. It's complicated."
"Everything about you is complicated."
"I know. And I'm sorry. But I'll advocate for you. In deliberations. I'll make sure they understand what you've accomplished. What you represent."
"Why help me?"
"Because it's right. And because you matter. More than the Council realizes. More than anyone realizes."
Through my Eclipse mark, I felt his sincerity. His loyalty. His connection.
That strange resonance. Like our energies recognized each other. Knew each other. Belonged together.
"Your magical aura," I said quietly. "It resonates with my mark. Strangely. Powerfully. Why?"
"I don't know. But I feel it too. Have since I arrived. Like something in me recognizes something in you."
"That's not normal."
"Nothing about us is normal."
He left. Returning to deliberations. Leaving me with more questions than answers.
Selene touched my arm. "Are you okay?"
"No. But I will be. Let's go home."
We returned to Silverwood. Exhausted. Frustrated. Uncertain.
The Council would decide our fate. And there was nothing we could do but wait.
