Chapter 113 Inspection
After Manuel dropped Savannah off at the neighborhood, he didn't take Catherine home directly but drove to his villa.
The two went upstairs, and Catherine poured herself a glass of water.
Suddenly, a pair of large hands reached around from behind, grabbed her slender waist, and unbuttoned one of her chest buttons.
Catherine was startled, "What are you doing? It's still daytime, you know. Even debauchery has its limits."
Manuel buried his head in her back, his laughter muffled.
Soon, when he lifted his head, his expression was calm again, "You're overthinking it. I was just checking your wound. What? Or do you actually want it?"
Catherine blushed, "You should have said so earlier. It made me misunderstand."
Catherine lifted her shirt, revealing the scar on her stomach.
Manuel lowered his eyes and looked at it carefully for a while. The scar on Catherine's stomach had indeed healed quite a bit, but the obvious surgical stitches were still visible. The tender new skin contrasted sharply with the original skin, making it very noticeable.
Manuel's fingers gently touched the scar on Catherine's lower abdomen, causing the wound to itch. Catherine couldn't help but shrink back, "Stop it, it tickles."
Manuel glanced at her, took a medical kit from the side, and told Catherine to sit on the bed. He took out cotton swabs, bandages, and medicine from the kit and began to carefully treat her wound.
When the iodine was applied to the wound, it felt cool. Catherine moved uncomfortably, and Manuel pressed her down, "Don't move, or it might hurt if it touches your scar."
Catherine had to lower her head and stay still.
After a while, the medicine on the wound was almost done.
Catherine felt that Manuel's technique seemed much better than the nurse who had previously treated her. Although the nurse's actions were gentle, it still hurt a bit.
When Manuel applied the medicine, she almost didn't feel any pain, just itching.
As the last bandage was wrapped, Catherine noticed that Manuel's gaze seemed a bit off.
His long, slender fingers slowly moved from the scar to elsewhere, touching the inside of Catherine's thigh.
Catherine immediately closed her legs, looking a bit embarrassed, "Manuel, the medicine is applied, right? Can I put my clothes back on?"
Manuel gave her a suggestive look, "Are you sure? Although the wound on your stomach has been dealt with, other wounds still need my treatment."
Catherine swallowed, turning her head away, "I think I'm fine, really, no need for treatment."
But Manuel's hand didn't withdraw.
His fingertips slowly rubbed Catherine's lower abdomen, bringing a tingling sensation.
Catherine's body instinctively trembled lightly, and Manuel's hand moved back and forth along her thigh without going further, but the implication was strong.
Catherine couldn't help but let out a soft gasp.
Manuel smirked, "Stop pretending. I know you're feeling it too. Don't act like I'm the one begging you."
Catherine was a bit scared and shrank back.
If it were ordinary methods, Manuel could indeed make a woman feel good.
But Manuel's way of making love wasn't ordinary; he always liked to try strange things.
Judging by the atmosphere, Manuel didn't plan to wait for her to heal before playing some weird tricks.
Catherine was a bit scared deep down, so she said to Manuel, "How about we just do something normal? Don't play those weird tricks. You like them, but that doesn't mean I do."
Manuel frowned, looking a bit displeased.
Anyone would be a bit unhappy if their good mood was interrupted repeatedly.
He frowned, "But what if I insist? I'm your boyfriend, are you going to refuse me?"
Catherine pouted, "I don't have to be your girlfriend. If you want to play those games, you can find another girlfriend to play with."
Manuel's expression turned cold, "Are you sure? I didn't expect you to be so open-minded, actually telling your boyfriend to find someone else. If I really do, don't cry."
Catherine was speechless.
How could she cry? She would be glad if Manuel found someone to share the burden. If he went to someone else, she could enjoy the benefits of the relationship and relax a bit.
But the low pressure around Manuel was already very gloomy. If she continued, he might get angry.
Catherine had to change the subject, "I remember you went on this business trip with Gabriel, right? You two have a good relationship."
Manuel's expression didn't improve at this topic; it got worse, "You're quite something. Bringing up another man during such a moment, do you really think I won't get jealous?"
Catherine was stunned.
She was just casually mentioning his colleague, how did it become about another man? And didn't Manuel have many male colleagues? Should she bring up a female colleague at this moment?
Catherine had to change the topic again, "Alright, no more talking about men. Recently, my colleagues and I have been busy with student graduations. The employment rate in our country has dropped again, the job market is tough, you know."
Manuel responded indifferently, moving aside and lighting a cigarette.
Catherine glanced at him, knowing Manuel was in a bad mood, so she didn't stop him and continued, "We have over forty students in our class, and only half have found jobs. Some told me they haven't found a job, and a few had their offers rescinded by the companies."
She paused, hesitated for a long time, and tentatively looked at Manuel, "Does your hospital have any low-threshold jobs you could recommend?"
Manuel sneered, "What? Now you want me to help?"
Catherine thought of her responsibility as a counselor. She couldn't just watch her students be unemployed and end up on the streets.
She softened her tone, "Please, I'm begging you. Some of my students really can't find jobs, and the recruitment season is coming. Time is tight, they need an internship to transition. Even a gatekeeping job would do, can you recommend something?"
Manuel sneered, patting his thigh, "Sit on my lap and beg me."
Catherine's face turned red immediately. She glanced at Manuel's leg, feeling a bit shy.
