CHAPTER 30

LUCY

I walk out of the office and scream as I jump when I see Cara walking in with her headphones in. That is why she couldn’t hear me say hello. She takes her earbud out and looks at me so confused. 

“I am so sorry you scared the absolute shit out of me. I said hello and nobody responded.”

She relaxes, “No, I am sorry I didn’t even think about it. I was just jamming away.”

“It is okay I am just a little on edge this morning but I am okay. Let’s get to work, we already have tons of orders to do!”

I grab the orders that I printed out off the printer and hand Cara half of them. We get to work so we can knock most of this out. We talked for the first two hours catching up and telling each other about our holidays. I left out most of mine because I haven’t told either one of them about my personal life. 

She had a pretty exciting holiday because her boyfriend of 3 years proposed on New Year’s Eve so she is still glowing. I am super super happy for her and Kyle is a lucky guy to have her as a future wife. 

She is already planning their wedding and she has so many ideas. She even wants me to take on everything that I can personalize for the wedding. Which I happily accepted as long as she accepted a discount and she could help with some of it. 

I hear my phone go off and I walk over to it to see it is a text from Adam. He apparently tried to call me and I never heard it so he just grabbed us the same thing he got us last time. By the time I start responding back he walks in the door. 

Fuck he looks so damn yummy and I have missed him so much today. Damn, I wish I could jump in his arms and kiss him.

“Hey you!”

He smiles at me, “Hey hun, I brought you guys lunch! I didn’t know what you ladies wanted so I just got the same thing I brought last time. I hope it’s alright!”

“I am so sorry I just now saw your missed call and text message. But, that is totally fine with us.”

Cara walks over and makes eyes at me as she grabs the food to take it back to my office. As soon as she is out of sight I quickly pull him in for a kiss. I melt in his mouth but quickly pull away before she walks back out here. 

“Damn I have missed you today and I am so happy to see you. How is your day going?”

He smiles, “My day just got a whole lot better thanks to you! But it has been a very busy today and I am afraid it is going to be an extra long one. We had so many inquiries while we were closed for the holidays that it is going to be a lot of catching up to do.”

“That is exactly how it is here but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Our holiday was amazing and I will not take it back. I will stay here for hours getting caught up if that’s what it takes.”

He looks around for Cara, “I agree baby, I wouldn’t change anything.”

He looks around again before kissing me again and my heart flutters. Fuck I love him so damn much it’s insane. We pull away from each other just as Cara is walking out but I don’t think she saw anything. 

He tells us both bye as he heads out the door and my body is craving him so bad right now. I catch myself biting my lip and I see Cara looking at me. 

She clears her throat, “Umm, what is up with that?”

“Oh nothing, we are just really close friends.”

She gives me those eyes, “Yeah right. I saw how you looked at him and how he looked at you. Something is going on with that and I am going to find out.”

“Nothing is going on, we are just friends I promise!”

TRAVIS

It has been the longest day of my life and I am missing them both like crazy. I just was told that we will be here really late tonight and I just want to go home right now. I send out a text to our group chat letting them know that I will be home late and I get responses fast. 

**Adam: Same, it is going to be a long**

**Night for us too.** 

**Lucy: I won’t be too long so I guess**

**I will just be at home by myself.**

**Me: I am sorry baby I wish one of** 

**us could be there with you.** 

**Adam: Agreed I would rather be at**

**home with you two than be here.** 

**Lucy: It is okay I will just have** 

**dinner ready when you two get**

**home.** 

**Adam: Thank you baby.**

**Me: Thank you baby girl.**

I feel so bad that she is going to be at the house all by herself. But, she has done it before and I always felt bad coming home late. Luckily she tends to stay late at the office sometimes so she isn’t home too long by herself. 

Adam had texted me earlier that he took her lunch and that made me truly happy that he was able to do that. I sometimes feel bad that I can never leave the office to go have lunch with her or even take her lunch. But, she understands and has never complained about it. 

I came back today knowing it was going to be crazy but it definitely was way worse that I thought it was going to be. The holidays make people go crazy every year and we have case after case. But this year is the worst year we have had in a long time. 

I had a huge stack of cases on my desk this morning and I have only been through five of them. They are so detailed and full of shit I normally don’t take on. But I guess because I was out for two weeks they gave me the cases they didn’t want to handle. 

So, that just means the next few weeks for me are going to be so hectic. I am going to have so many late nights and it is going to suck throughout the week not being able to see them. I am just hoping that Adam doesn’t have a schedule like I will and he can be home with her. 

My phone goes off and it’s Lucy in the group chat.

**real or not.**
