Chapter 468

Chapter 468

"Ms. Tudor!" Hatty, fully geared up, waved frantically at the arrival gate.

"To the office." Amelia handed various matters over to Ryder, who nodded and headed where he was ordered to.

When their car pulled into the company, chaos reigned inside, but the building was tightly controlled by medical authorities, anyone entering or leaving was thoroughly checked.

Over thirty people were quarantined in the office. Due to the shortage of medicine, some were already delirious with fever.

Estella huddled in a corner wrapped in a blanket. The moment she saw Amelia, her swollen eyes suddenly lit up with disbelief.

"Ms. Tudor..." Estella's voice was hoarse beyond recognition. "You really..."

Amelia pushed her back onto the stretcher. "Save your strength. Lie down."

She quickly tore open the protective suit packaging and pulled out a mask for Estella. "Medicine will be here soon. Just hang on a bit longer."

Estella burst into tears.

Under the black night sky, Amelia and Hatty's figures moved between the quarantine tents.

She personally took temperatures for the artists, helped the crew adjust their breathing masks, and even fed water and medicine to a young staff member who was burning up with fever.

At 3 a.m., when the last patient was loaded into an ambulance, her protective goggles were completely fogged up.

"Ms. Tudor..." Hatty suddenly grabbed her. "Look at this."

On the phone screen, Sandra's selfie from inside a private jet was going viral.

In the photo, she held up champagne with the caption "Continuing the fight from another location."

The location tag showed Astoria's airport.

The topic "Sandra abandons company and flees epidemic zone" was gaining fifty to sixty thousand views per minute.

"Ignore her." Amelia stripped off the ruined protective suit, sweat streaming down the side of her face. "Contact Ryder. Send another batch of medicine tomorrow."

Three days later, when Amelia was so exhausted at the Spencer family's private hospital that she had to lean against the wall to dry heave, Hatty suddenly handed her a tablet.

On the screen, a press conference was playing. Footage of her donated supplies and personally caring for patients was displayed side by side with Sandra's plane selfie.

Social media sentiment had long since reversed.

Under Sandra's last Instagram post, angry netizens had built a tower of millions of comments:

"Combat hero vs. deserter"

"Look at what Amelia Tudor is doing"

"I'm never supporting Galaxy Entertainment again"

...

Amelia turned off the screen, feeling nothing inside.

With Sandra's actions, she had already lost people's hearts. She wouldn't get far.

Just then, her phone vibrated. The caller ID showed an Astoria area code.

"Mommy!" Sirius's bright voice came through. "I took a step by myself today! Dr. Johnston says I'll get better soon. I miss you so much. When are you coming back?"

In the background, Chris gently added, "Didn't you promise me you wouldn't ask Mommy when she's coming back?"

A wave of emotion surged through Amelia as she slowly slid down the wall and sank onto the floor.

"You're doing great, sweetheart." She tilted her head back to keep tears from falling. "In a few days, Mommy will come get you and we'll have fun together."

Her brain had almost stopped working from exhaustion.

She was actually grateful she had made this decision.

When she had decided without hesitation to come back, she had held a tiny bit of hope in her heart. She wanted to use her small power to help others, thinking that maybe it would bring Sirius a bit of good luck, that maybe God would let him live happily.

So she worked extra hard, with extra devotion.

And now, she believed in that mysterious pull of fate.

How wonderful.

She didn't care about all the praise from the outside world. She hadn't responded to any of those flattering words, and had even rejected reporters who wanted to interview her without mercy.

She just wanted to get back to her son as soon as possible.

Just then, her phone buzzed urgently.

Diana's name flashed on the screen. Amelia took a deep breath and answered.

"Have you lost your mind?"

Diana's voice practically pierced her eardrum, anger mixed with barely concealed worry. "Don't you know what the situation is like back home? Sirius is still in the hospital, and you ran back there for what?"

Amelia gripped her phone, her gaze sweeping over Estella receiving an IV in the hospital room, and said softly, "Mom, I'm fine. I know what I'm doing."

"Fine?" Diana's voice shook with anger. "Do you know how dangerous it is out there? You're going to be the death of me. Chris has lost his mind too, letting you go back. You've both gone crazy!"

"Mom." Amelia interrupted her, her tone calm but firm. "I couldn't just leave them."

Silence on the other end for a few seconds, then came a heavy sigh, followed by the busy tone of a disconnected call.

Amelia put away her phone. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Estella had woken up, so she poured her a glass of water.

Estella stared at her blankly, her body weak yet, she was grateful. "Ms. Tudor, you really shouldn't have come back. It's too dangerous."

"Lie still." Amelia tucked in the blanket corner for her, her voice gentle but firm. "You're my artist and my friend. I won't abandon you, or anyone else either."

Estella froze, then tears suddenly streamed down her face.

"You're so good to us. You left your own child behind, but you still came to care for us..."

"Alright, alright." Amelia didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She held Estella's hand and comforted her for a while.

Walking out of the hospital room, Amelia found dozens of flower bouquets outside, all kinds, beautiful beyond words.

She was startled again, her nose tingling slightly.

What was this all about?

She had only done a little bit to help. Why was everyone being so nice?

"Amelia Tudor returns home to help"

"Amelia Tudor donates five million dollars"

"The Spencer Hospital opens to receive patients"

...

All the trending topics were related to Amelia.

Not only had she donated five million dollars to the Red Cross in their names as a couple, but she had also coordinated for the Spencer family's private hospital to open up beds specifically to receive patients who couldn't get timely treatment due to strained medical resources.

Reporters caught wind and tried to block Amelia at the hospital entrance, only to be repeatedly disappointed—they couldn't see her at all.

That evening, the hospital corridor lights were dim and yellow.

Amelia had just finished arranging a new batch of medical supplies. Exhausted, she rubbed her temples and stretched, preparing to rest for a moment, when she suddenly heard familiar footsteps behind her.

She turned around, her pupils suddenly contracting.

Chris stood at the end of the corridor, travel-worn.

His expression remained hard, his eyes carrying the weariness of a long flight, but the moment their eyes met, he curved his lips slightly.

"You..." Amelia looked completely incredulous, thinking she was hallucinating from exhaustion. "How did you get back? What about Sirius?"

"Mom and Dad are with him." Chris strode over and pulled her into his arms, his voice low and firm. "Wherever you are, that's where I am."

Amelia's eyes welled up as she gripped the corner of his shirt tightly.
