\## Author's Epilogue
Dear Reader,
As I close the final chapter of Ximena and Carmine's journey, I find myself reflecting on why I needed to tell this story—why perhaps, we all needed it. Stories of werewolves and witches, of curses and mates, might seem like mere fantasy, but the truths woven through these supernatural elements are as real as the breath in your lungs and the dreams in your heart.
We live in a world that often tells us to hide our true selves, to dim our light so others feel more comfortable, to choose between parts of our identity rather than embracing the whole. Ximena’s story began with a spell that literally masked her true nature, forcing her to live as less than she was. How many of us wear similar masks, not from magic, but from fear? Fear of rejection, fear of being "too much," fear of our own power. We convince ourselves that playing small keeps us safe, but safety and living are not the same thing.
I wrote Ximena as a hybrid not just for the supernatural intrigue, but because she represents everyone who has ever felt caught between two worlds, never quite fitting into either. The immigrant child balancing two cultures. The professional woman navigating masculine corporate spaces. The sensitive soul in a world that prizes toughness. The witch and wolf within her weren't meant to war against each other—they were meant to dance together, creating something more powerful than either could be alone. Your own dualities, whatever they may be, are not weaknesses to overcome but strengths waiting to harmonize.
When Ximena fled her pack at five years old, she carried more than just the trauma of losing her parents—she carried the burden of being seen as an abomination, of love being labeled as wrong simply because it crossed boundaries others had drawn. How many of us have been told that who we are or whom we love is somehow wrong? Her parents died for daring to unite witch and wolf, yet their love created something extraordinary—a daughter who would eventually change the world for all hybrids. Sometimes what others call an abomination is actually evolution.
Carmine's curse—seeing only darkness when he looked at his reflection—speaks to the lies we tell ourselves about our own worth. How often do we look in the mirror and see only our failures, our mistakes, our shadows? His journey reminds us that sometimes we need another's eyes to see our truth, and that redemption isn't about erasing our past but transforming it into wisdom. He called his pack the Dark Moon not to glorify darkness, but to acknowledge it, to claim it, to lead despite it. We all have our dark moons, phases where we feel invisible, unworthy, cursed. But remember, even a dark moon is still there, still pulling the tides, still part of the cycle.
The rejection Ximena faced from her first mate mirrors the pain many of us have experienced when showing our authentic selves to someone we trusted. That Beta who chose Ruby over the "omega" Luciana appeared to be teaching us a powerful lesson: those who can't see past surfaces don't deserve our depths. But notice—that rejection didn't diminish her worth; it redirected her path toward someone who could see and cherish all of her. Sometimes closed doors are blessings in disguise, protecting us from lives too small for our spirits.
Through writing their love story, I wanted to challenge the notion that we must be perfect or "healed" to be worthy of love. Ximena and Carmine found each other while still struggling with their inner battles. She couldn't control her hybrid powers; he couldn't bear his own reflection. They didn't wait to be "ready"—they chose to grow together, to be vulnerable despite their fears, to love through the uncertainty. Real love isn't about finding someone when you're at your best; it's about finding someone who helps you become your best while loving you at your worst.
The character of Chris serves as a cautionary tale about the danger of deception in the name of love, but also about the power of mercy. When Luciana stripped him of his powers rather than his life, she broke a cycle of revenge that had plagued her family for generations. Sometimes the greatest strength is choosing not to use all of your power, choosing to end a story of hatred with an act of grace.
Dani represents every external force that tries to reclaim what was never truly theirs, every past that refuses to stay buried, every person who believes they're entitled to a place in your life simply because they once occupied it. Her return reminds us that our battles aren't always over when we think they are, but also that each victory makes us stronger for the next fight.
The revenge plot that runs through this tale ultimately transforms into something greater—justice, yes, but more importantly, the reclaiming of one's birthright to exist fully and freely. Ximena didn't just defeat her enemies; she created a sanctuary for others like her. She built an academy where hybrid children could learn to love all parts of themselves. This is the highest form of victory: turning your pain into a pathway for others' healing.
To everyone who has ever felt like an orphan in their own life, like Ximena at five years old, fleeing from those who should have protected her—know that you can create your own family, your own pack, your own place of belonging. Blood doesn't always mean loyalty, and sometimes the families we choose are stronger than the ones we're born into.
To those who, like Carmine, fear that their darkness makes them unlovable—remember that the right person will see your shadows as part of your depth, not reasons to run. Your curses can become your gifts when witnessed with love.
To anyone hiding behind their own version of Ximena’s spell, living as an omega when you're meant to be an alpha—it's time. It's time to break the spell, to challenge your own Dani to a fight, to stop accepting less than you deserve. The world needs your true strength, your authentic power, your complete self.
This story is my love letter to the fighters, the survivors, the ones who refuse to let their beginning dictate their ending. It's for those who dare to love after betrayal, who choose to trust after deception, who build kingdoms from the ashes of their childhood homes.
Remember: being a hybrid—being multiple things at once—isn't a curse. It's a superpower. Your complexity is your strength. Your scars are your story. Your journey through darkness qualifies you to be someone else's light.
May you find your own Dark Moon pack—a place where your reflections, no matter how fractured or frightening they seem to you, are seen as beautiful by those who truly matter.
Thank you for walking this path with Ximena and Carmine. May their story remind you that no matter how lost you feel, you're exactly where you need to be to become who you're meant to be.
The moon sees you. Your reflection is perfect. Your hybrid heart is whole.
With love and howls to the moon,

P.S. - To every "omega" reading this who knows they're truly an alpha—tomorrow, challenge your Dani. The world is waiting to see your true strength. You've hidden long enough. It's time to shine like the mirror you are, reflecting not what others want to see, but the truth of your magnificent, hybrid soul.
