Chapter 181

Chapter 181
Ximena

Five months later

“Ahh,” I sighed softly as I stared out the window as the snow fell down on the pack house. I turned my gaze back to my room as I watched the maids carry my stuff with precision.

You guessed right, we're moving. It's been five amazing months with my now big baby bump and the unity of both kingdoms. The current pack house has now become too small for us to stay with all our armies, so we built a new one - together. A new one with a whole new structure.

No more omega den, a less dark dungeon, but a darker one where the rebellious Alphas were thrown to spend the rest of their lives in a place not so different from how their hearts looked, I thought.

“My queen, we're done.” One of the maids announced, making me turn my gaze in her direction. She was a beautiful beta, a beta who volunteered to become one of the pack's maids.

In this new era, maids weren't something forced on omegas, and omegas weren't seen as lesser humans… Maids became a job they now accepted with excitement, as anyone who was opportune to work in the palace was seen as ‘lucky,’ so each month we get new applications from both betas and omegas telling us about their interest in working here.

But even with all this, we still selected with caution, at least until my baby was born. My dad's words never left my ears, but I guess the few months of suffering I went through as an omega in the past formed a new part of me that never wanted any omega ever to go through that humiliation, not to mention going through all that with a king whose eyes were blinded by a curse, I thought.

“At least it was all worth it in the end, right Luna Ximena?” Talia's voice echoed in my head, making me chuckle at Talia.

“Hello to you too, Talia,” I replied.

Lately, Talia had become really scarce since I became pregnant; she only chimed in words sometimes in my head, or when needed.

“Wooh… I can't wait for these pups to come into this world; they are really messing with my time with you,” she retorted, making me curl my lips into a smile.

“Soon, Talia, soon… Mom says I was born in the sixth month of staying inside her; this is just the fifth month for me. Who knows, I might just deliver by the next, so please hang in there, alright?” I said reassuringly.

“Ximena, are you ready?” Carmine's voice echoed in my ears as he walked in, together with Rogan and Carly behind him, as she walked slowly with her baby bump while Rogan guarded her still.

“Yes… I was just about to leave,” I replied with a smile as I got down from where I sat, with Carmine holding my hand still, making sure I was safe.

“Slowly, Ximena, slowly,” he said.

“I'm fine, Carmine, I'm….” I tried to speak, but before I could finish, I felt a sharp pain snap through my lower abdomen, making me wince a little, twisting my face into a scowl.

Carmine noticed this; his heart skipped as he stared at me. “What is it? Do you want me to take it away?” he asked.

Carmine never left my side for the last five months, always clutching his hands to mine, taking away every slight pain I felt throughout my journey.

“No, Carmine, I'm good. It's just the regular…” I tried to speak again, but this time the pain came in again, sharper and heavier, making me scream in agony as my water broke.

“Is… Is it…” Carmine stuttered.

“Do you really need a seer to tell you that right now? Of course, it's time, man… Get the healer!!!” Rogan snapped, turning to one of the maids.

These two never really learned to get along, always making funny but annoying jokes, refusing to show their likeness for each other. Rogan made things even worse. He was the only one who refused to take orders from Carmine, despite being an Omega; his only advantage was being a hybrid with powers, and that was the only thing stopping Carmine from kicking his ass every time.

“Can you both please not start right now? Please, Rogan?” I fired at him, my voice calmer as Carmine was busy taking away the pain, but he could still only take a little away.

“Come on, Ximena, I'll lift you,” he said, trying to pick me up in a bridal style.

His gaze never left mine as he kept doing his best to relieve me of what I was feeling, but still, my stomach twisted like there was a war between storm and fire going on in there.

“Hang in there, Ximena, hang in there,” he mumbled softly as he took me past the crowd of people whom we were supposed to lead to the new pack house.

“Of all days… Why today?” I muttered under my breath.

“Which other days do you prefer, Ximena? Come on, let's get this feeling over with,” Talia growled.

Just then, we got to the infirmary, which was already empty as everything had also been packed. Carmine placed me lightly on the bed as the healer walked in.

“Ma’am Joanna, please help,” Carmine called out with panic in his voice.

Joanna walked towards me, doing some palpitations on my abdomen before turning back to Carmine.

“She's close, my lord; we have to deliver her right here right now,” she announced.

“Alright then, what can I do to help?” he asked.

“What about moving? The people are…” Rogan asked softly.

“The people can wait until she delivers, Rogan!” Carmine sneered.

“But it's snowing out there,” he replied.

“I said the people can wait!!” he thundered, his eyes lighting up in fury. “You can tell them to go back in for a bit; we won't move until my baby arrives!” he added with a more careful tone after I placed my hands lightly on his.

I turned my gaze to Rogan, staring at him with pleading eyes mixed with a scowl, as my stomach was on fire, making him give me a light nod before he finally left.

“My lord, I'll need you to be her support through all of this,” Joanna said as she arranged the delivery instruments with precision on a tray.

“That shouldn't be hard,” Carmine replied.

Joanna froze at his response, laughing for a while as she held an injection in her hands. “I wouldn't say that if I were you, my lord,” she replied with a light chuckle.

“What do you mean?” he asked.

But before she could respond, I felt the prick of the needle into my skin, making me scream at the top of my lungs as I felt an immediate pull and push in my stomach as the storm inside turned into a tornado.

“Arrggghhh” I yelled, feeling my eyes light up in their colors and my powers rise from the inside of my body, running a million-meter marathon in seconds.

My claws sprouted out, clutching into Carmine's skin as I dug them into his, making him yell in pain. The one who took pain now felt pain.

The wind increased, things flew in the air, and I could hear voices from a distance, both from animals and from the subjects outside.

“Make her calm, my lord,” Joanna yelled at the top of her lungs amidst the chaos.

“What? Now?!” he asked through gritted teeth, closing his eyes in pain.

“Make it stop!!!” I thundered, my voice deeper, stronger.

“Come on, my lord, do something. The baby can't come out with her in this state,” Joanna fired.

Confused Carmine turned in my direction, staring deeply into my eyes. “Come on, Ximena, I know you can do this,” he said, but his voice only sounded annoying to my ears.

“My queen, I want you to just try taking a deep breath in and when you feel a strong pull, at my command, you push!!” Joanna instructed. “Do you understand?” she asked, but I only gave a light nod.

Carmine stood there, still trying his best to calm me down while taking away the pain, but right now, it only felt like his powers were useless.

“Now!! Push!!” Joanna yelled at the top of her lungs.

And with that, I locked gaze with her, and in one push, I brought out the being causing the chaos inside me.

The cry of a baby erupted in the air, followed by the loud thud of a thunderstorm from outside as Joanna lifted the child up to me. “She's a girl,” she announced with a smile.

But just as I was about to rejoice, I felt a stronger pull inside me, making me groan.

“What's going on?!” Carmine asked with panic in his voice, his heart pounding loudly against his chest.

Ma’am Joanna froze as she looked at me with shock in her eyes, dropping the baby. “She has a twin, my lord,” she muttered softly, her voice trembling as she spoke.

“What?” Carmine mumbled in awe.

She quickly separated the first baby from me, handing it to her assistant as she took out the other. The air grew thick the minute the baby was out; both their skin began to glow as their cries filled the air.

“He's a boy,” Ma’am Joanna announced.

I heaved a deep sigh of relief, with a smile on my face as I stared at the life I'd nurtured.

“Mom, Dad, you were wrong. I gave birth to more than hybrids,” I mumbled under my breath, staring into thin air as Carmine pressed his lips against mine.

I wonder what these two can do, I thought.
