Chapter 77
MILA
I felt like I was being held down by something heavy.
I opened my eyes and stared at Archer. I blinked a few times as my eyes were blurry.
I could hear voices but couldn't work out who was talking.
I looked back at Sapphire; she blinked at me a few times before she yawned. "What happened?" She asked.
I tried to think of what she was talking about, but it hit me. I used my magic to take down the rogues after Luke, Archer, and me.
But what the hell happened?
I move slightly, which makes the talking stop.
I looked up and noticed Archer staring back at me. "Little Dove, your awake?" He said.
I nodded and moved up. I was sitting on his lap but felt slightly dizzy.
"Hold on, little dove," Archer said as he placed his arm under my arms and pushed me off his lap. He made sure I was in the seating position next to him.
Archer moved back and stared at me. I could feel other eyes on me, and I looked toward the front of the car.
I could see Luke's eyes in the rearview mirror, but the eyes next to him were triggering me.
"Who are you?" I asked as I moved slightly to get comfy.
The woman looked at me and smiled. "White wolf," she said. "It is so nice to meet you finally. I'm Sage."
Sapphire was awake and alert.
"Witch," she snarled.
I couldn't help the growl that slipped past my lips.
Sage looked at me; her smile didn't fade. I could feel someone's hand in mine. I looked over to Archer, who had a worried face. "Little dove," he said. "She helped us, and she is okay."
I stared at him, but I could sense the uncertainty in his voice.
He didn't know whether to trust her or not.
I looked back at Sage, and her eyes were focused on me. "White wolf," she said. "I mean you no harm; I'm a friend and allay. I want to take Aria down just as much as you."
I stared at her but never opened my mouth.
Sapphire stayed close, but not close for her to show herself.
"What do you think, Sapphire?" I asked her. "Do you think she is one of the good ones?"
Sapphire cocks her head to the side and stares at her. "I can't tell," she said. "Her eyes say more than what she is telling us."
Sapphire sits on her hind legs and stares at Sage.
"I think she can be trusted, but I do have this nagging doubt about something," she said. "I just can't put my paw on it."
I looked back at Sage, who had an amused look.
"Fascinating," she said. "I have never seen a human talk to a wolf or another shifter part before. You're my first."
I stared at her.
Sage looked at me, but her eyes went to Archer. Her eyes grew wide, which made me look at him.
His eyes were white. He was talking to someone through Drack.
After a few moments, Archer's eyes went normal, and he glared at Sage. "What?" He grunted.
"I didn't mean..." she said. But Archer let out a growl. "Don't stare, witch," he boomed, his voice echoing around the car. "It's not nice."
I looked back at Sage, who looked like she had gone a shade paler than before.
I turned my attention to the window and looked out. We were heading through what looked like a forest, as all I could see were trees.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"We are going to see my sisters," Sage said, which made me turn to look at her.
I growled. "More witches," I asked, not a question as such but a statement.
Sage looked at me and nodded. "We not bad," she said. "I guess you have dealt with bad witches before, never to trust any again."
I stared at her.
There were only two witches I trusted that was Gloria and Emily.
I felt my heartache at the mere mention of their names.
"You don't know anything about me," I said with a frown. "And I will never tell you anything."
Sage looked at me for a moment but sighed. "I know," she said. "I don't expect you to trust me, not yet anyway. My sisters and I want to help you. We can help you manage your magic, train you."
"And why would you do that?" I asked. "How do we know you won't hand me over to Aria?"
Sage's eyes started to glow green; her magic was filling her veins. She looked like Emily when she was about to use her magic or when she was pissed off.
"WE ARE NOTHING LIKE ARIA," she yelled. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths in and out to calm herself.
Sage opened her eyes and stared at me.
"I'm sorry," she said. "It gets frustrating when people question you due to one person who wants to kill everything in its place."
I stared at her.
"White wolf, you are the key to finish her," she said. "You will store the balance in this world, our world."
Sapphire stared at her, but I could feel her more. She wanted out, but something was up with her.
"Sapphire," I asked.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
She lets a low growl, and I could feel a mind link open up. It was Drack. "Little wolf, you need to calm," he said, trying to soothe Sapphire, but nothing was helping us.
I could feel my own magic bubble to the surface. Sapphire wanted out, but her eyes were glowing blue.
"Little wolf," called Drack, but Sapphire blocked him.
I looked back and noticed that we were heading toward a clearing, but there was a shimmering field around it. It was magic; it was either keeping something in or something out.
"I want out," shouted Sapphire. "I want out NOW."
The car didn't stop, but I opened the door and jumped out. I hit the ground hard and started to roll.
As I came to a stop, the car skidded to a halt. All doors opened, and I could see Archer come around his side. "Little dove," he yelled.
I got up, but I let Sapphire come up front with me. "WHERE ARE WE?" We yelled together.
Our magic was swirling around like a hurricane, ready to take out whatever came my way.
"MILA," shouted Luke.
We stared at him, but our eyes went straight to the two women standing on a porch behind him. I could feel my power swirl more, rage filling every ounce of my body.
I looked toward Sage, who was running toward the women. "MOVE," she yelled.
Sapphire and I closed our eyes as the power took form.
We needed to unleash whatever was inside us.
Our eyes flew open, and we were engulfed in flame, not your normal-looking flame.
Purple swirled around us, and all Sapphire and I could do were flick our hand and aim it toward the car.
The flame flips the car over and sets it ablaze.
The car exploded.
I looked toward the women; Archer and Luke were looking at me. All were gaping at me.
"You need to calm down," shouted a woman. "Close your eyes and think of happy thoughts."
I did as she asked, and all my thoughts went to my life with Emily. All the good and goofy times we shared.
Sapphire shared her happy memories of shifting and playing with her.
After a few seconds, everything that ignited within us was calming down and dying down. Once I knew the magic had gone, I opened my eyes and looked ahead.
Archer stared at me but soon started to run toward me.
"What..." I start to say, but I hear a growl behind me.
I looked over my shoulder, and four people were staring back at me.
My magic was on the verge of returning again, but something kept me calm. The girl in the middle was staring at me, "we found you."
I stared back, confused.
"You're who we have been searching for," she said. "I'm Alanna."
Looking back at her, I could feel someone stir next to me.
"You're Lucas's daughter," says a whisper. I looked to see Archer, who was staring back at the girl.
"Yes, I am," she said.
I looked back with Sapphire in front of me.
"THEY NOT ALONE," she snarled.
I growled.
Behind them were wolves, and they were not friendly, judging by how they were snarling and growling at us.
"ROGUES," shouted Sage.
