Clarissa was in her third class for the day. She was trying her best to concentrate but the people at the back of the class won’t stop whispering and it was getting on her nerves. She turned angrily and glared at them but they gave her a glare of their own, making her turn to her front in annoyance.

She was thinking of calling the teachers attention when she felt her phone vibrate in her bag. She always made sure to put in on silence to prevent embarrassment from her teachers in case she gets a call

She was going to ignore it but the phone kept ringing so she assumed it was something important

She puts her hand into her bag and her eyes widen both in shock and pleasant surprise when she sees it was her dad calling. He knew she would be in class so she wondered why he was calling her. Perhaps it was something urgent?

“Yes Clarissa, what is it?” Her teacher asked when she raised her hands to interrupt the teacher’s explanation

“Can I go to the restroom, it’s really urgent” She pleaded, bringing forth her most vulnerable expression which most teachers failed to resist

“Sure but make it fast” The teacher excused her with a smile because Clarissa was one of her top students who never gave her any problems

“Thank you” Clarissa sneaked her phone into her pocket and dashed out of the class.

She wanted to go outside but decided against it and opted for the female restroom on the floor, close to her classroom.

She entered the girls restroom and checked all the stall to make sure no one was in any of them before she locked the door to prevent anyone from coming in.

The phone had started ringing again so she picked the call and place the phone against her ears

“Hello Dad” Clarissa picked the call with a wide smile. She was her dad’s favorite and he spoiled her so much. He was also her favorite person

“Hello my Princess. It’s so good to hear your voice. I’ve missed you a lot, you know?” Her dad said. She could tell he had a wide smile on his life like he always did when he was talking to her

“I’ve missed you too. I can’t wait to come home after the holidays and give you a giant bear hug” She replied enthusiastically

“Now I can’t wait to have you at home. You know you’re daddy’s little princess?”

“I know. How is everyone at home? What about mom? She doesn’t call me so often these days” She said with a pout

“Your mom’s been busy with work so she’s hardly home but I’ll make sure she calls you okay?” Her dad promise

“Okay dad. I hope mom isn’t stressing herself too much? I don’t want her to fall ill” She said with a laugh

“I’m here to make sure that doesn’t happen”

“I trust you daddy”

“I hope you aren’t encountering any difficulties in school? How is your studies?”

“No dad. If I was you’ll be the first person to know and studies are fine. Same old stuff everyday” she said with a warm smile. Her dad was always so worried when it comes to her

“How’s Issei? She hasn’t called me in a while” Her dad asked

“She’s fine. She has a test today”

“Wish her Goodluck for me okay?”

“Yes dad. I will. So why’d you call? I’m in class and you know that”

“I was too excited to wait. I know things are getting more expensive so I increased your monthly allowance. I don’t want my princess to experience any difficulties away from home”

“Oh my gosh, thank you daddy. I love you so so so much. You are the best” Clarissa squealed in delight and began doing a little dance in the restroom as she couldn’t hide her happiness

“Another increase? Didn’t you just increase her allowance? You’re spoiling her too much” Her mom’s voice suddenly filled the phone and Clarissa groaned

“Mom, don’t make him change his mind.” She whined

“I doubt you need more money, you don’t even spend much” her mom chastised and it was true. She wasn’t a big spender so she hardly exhausted her monthly allowance but it was a good feeling to see the money pile up in her account

“I need it mom. I’m a growing woman, I have expenses” she said with a pout

“I’m sure you” Clarissa knew Sarcasm when she heard one and that was a top tier sarcastic comment

“I’m serious”

“Did I say otherwise?” Her mom teased

“I didn’t say anything”

Clarissa heard movement and a door shut on the other end of the line before her mom spoke again

“Have you shifted yet?” Her mom asked her, all traces of playfulness gone as she turned serious

“Not yet mom” Clarissa answered with disappointment lacing her tone

It was very embarrassing that she had yet to have her shift. Other wolves around her age have shifted and her parents kept trying to console her but she knew they were also worried that she may not shift

“It’s okay. You don’t have to be disappointed. I know it would happen soon so don’t let it worry you and make you distracted”

“I can’t not worry. I’m always embarrassed when people ask me if I shifted yet.” She moaned

“I know. You have to trust me when I say you will shift. I am your mother, believe what I tell you”

“Okay mom”

“The full moon is coming soon and you have to be careful. You know things may get out of control and you have to be out of sight in case anything happens. We can’t risk the humans finding out about us” her mom cautioned

“I know mom. I would never risk our identity” She promised

“I trust you Clarissa. I am so thankful that I never have to worry about you because you are so responsible and would never do anything that would intentionally cause damage to your family”

“You’re making me blush now mama”

“That’s my girl. I want you to keep on smiling okay. Don’t think about your shift. It’ll happen at the right time”

“Okay mom. Say hello to everyone, okay? I have to get back to my class”

“Okay baby. Have a lovely day. Send my regards to Issei too”

Her mom disconnected the call and Clarissa turned to the mirror with a sigh. She felt like she has let her family down by not shifting but there was nothing she could do but wait

“You’ll be fine” she tried to encourage herself but the smile she was trying to muster wouldn’t come. She looked like she was wincing so she gave up and washed her hands

She didn’t have makeup on so she decided to wash her face as well since she looked like she was on the verge of tears. Thinking about her shift always had the power to drain her.

“I should head to class before the teacher send someone to look for me” she whispered before making her way towards the door

She jumped back in shock as she opened the door and saw someone standing there with their back facing her

“You should be more careful when holding such a conversation” Gabriel teased as he turned to face her

“You again!” Clarissa exclaimed
