Chapter 54 Chapter 54

Chapter 54 Chapter 54
Kendrick's POV

“What the fuck are you saying?” I growled at her.

She kept shaking her head as she tried to leave the room. “That's where I belong. If I stay here, close to you, I might curse you with my bad luck.”

Damn. My chest tightened as she said those words about herself.

How do I tell her she was not a curse, rather, she was like a blessing to me.

It was not a call I heard with my ears, but with my heart– my senses were heightened and I knew she was in deep danger.

I went in the direction and then I heard her call my name when I was so close. I would have killed Venom, but that would mean going against my own laws.

It was forbidden to spill the blood of a brother in the camp.

I almost didn't mind when I saw what he was about to do to her. But I held myself.

How dare she say those abominable words against herself now?

If someone else had said it in front of me, I might have their tongues cut off without thinking twice.

“Kyla, you're not a curse.”

She sniffed, crying profusely. “How do you know? You don't even know me. We just met a few hours ago.”

My heart squeezed as she uttered those words. It was true that I just met her, but I knew she wasn't a curse.

She shoved me to the side, about to leave when I held her arm and pulled her back, then I slammed the door shut.

“You're not going anywhere,” I growled as I pinned her against the door.

“You–”

“Shut up and stop being stubborn, else I'll take you to my room instead.”

She gulped and looked away. Did she hate that idea? It sounded great to me.

“F– fine.” she stuttered.

I sighed and wiped the tears off her eyes. “You'll stay here?” She nodded and looked away. “Good girl.”

My finger brushed her bottom lip and I froze, staring at it. She looked up at me and furrowed her brows.

“What are you staring at? The blood?”

No. I was wondering how much this little pink lips of hers was looking so welcoming to me like no other.

“Yes, how come there are blood stains but no wounds?” I lied, gulping as I rubbed the corner of her lips, still pinning her to the door with my body.

“I bit him– he was trying to cover my mouth.”

I smirked and quickly pulled away from her, before I'd lost my mind, just staring at her cute face..

“Nice one.” I ruffled her hair. “You should wash up. I'll be back later.”

She nodded and looked around. I'm sure she was looking for the bathroom.

I pointed at the door and she smiled and walked towards it.

I heaved in relief as she left, and I went to the window, checking if the burglarproof was secured.

Then I went out of the room and locked it from outside. “I'm sorry, but I have to lock you in. You can't leave until I find out all I want about you and why you have this effect on me.”

I kept the keys in my pocket and stormed down the stairs.

I had to take care of unfinished business– Venom and his rebellious gang.

As I got to the training ground at the back, Venom was there, the five other Rogues that were with him were sitting by the side.

Venom was speaking with Daciana. What were they discussing?

As I stormed up to them, I kicked one of the Rogue off my way and the other rushed off.

Venom saw me and raced behind Daciana, holding her waist as he knelt behind her.

“Please, Kendrick. I swear, I didn't know she was the same girl.”

That was a lie and it only made me angrier. I was about to lunge at him when Daciana held my hand.

“Leave me, Daciana. You don't know what these nutjobs did. I'll teach them a lesson on how to treat women.”

“I know what they did. And I say you give them another chance, please Kendrick.”

I gritted my teeth as I glared at Venom behind her. “What did he tell you that's making you intercede for him?”

Daciana gulped and looked away. Did Venom threaten her?

Why was she mute?

“Daciana?”

“It's nothing, I promise. I just want you to be a fair leader and give them one more chance.”

“I have to be fair by punishing them, so I'll be sure that no other female is in danger in this camp,” I replied.

“No, Kendrick. With the level of the, you could hurt them so bad,” Daciana stated, pushing me back with her hands on my chest.

“They tried to hurt her–” My chest raged and I was about to grab Venom when I paused.

My senses heightened again, adrenaline pumped through my veins as I turned toward the pack house.

“Kyla?” I muttered. She was in danger and I could feel it as hair stood at the back of my neck.
