Chapter 99 WHAT DO YOU WANT?
Chapter 99 WHAT DO YOU WANT?
Desmond
My hands could not stop fucking shaking.
It was just a glimpse but yet nothing hurt more than seeing the girl that you were utterly obsessed with kissing the man that you knew had a shameless crush on her just mere seconds after saying she loved me.
I longed to storm in there and launch my fists into his face over and over again until it lost form, but yet I could not help to think… did I even deserve to do that?
I doubted it, not after all the pain that I had caused her.
It was burned into my brain, the memory of his mouth on hers.
The way he cradled her face like she was the most precious thing in the universe. She really was the most beautiful part of this world and it hurt that she was no longer mine. I told her that she could not love me.
And now she’s kissing someone who can.
My jaw was locked tight. And my gaze was so fierce it was ready to burn everything in sight. I did not go up though, I just turned and left.
By the time I get in my car, my hands were literally trembling.
My wolf was wailing from inside of my consciousness and my gums were itching, y fangs threatening to rip free.
He was in agony, and I could not even comfort him because I also felt the same way… the two of us were one, but separate entities at the same time, each carrying a heavy burden of gilt with no way to even be really there for each other.
I placed my leg on the ignition and just drove with reckless abandon…. I had never felt like this in my entire life, not even with Andrea. It was like Kennedie held the strings to my heart even without knowing, and right now she was tugging on them…. And it was painful.
She actually said she loved me.
I almost scoffed at that, you don’t love someone and then find yourself in the arms of another in the space of less than an hour. And yes did I sound like a hypocrite, probably but I was fucking livid and there was nothing I could do about how I felt.
Marvin almost ticked the wrong things in me, and I was yet to figure out whether it was because I simply did not trust he or he never quite got the hint to stay away from Kennedie and now, he finally got what he wanted.
My car jerked into the parking lot of the Knight Club. I had not been here in a long time, but I guess, old habits do die hard
I stepped inside and let the noise consume me.
Lights flashing. Bodies grinding. The smell of sweat and sex hang heavily in the air, thick enough to choke on. A dancer drapes herself over a chrome pole on stage, eyes scanning the crowd like she’s selecting prey.
This used to be my home, where I felt the most in my element but now, I felt like a stranger. My skin was crawling, but still I forged ahead.
I took a seat in one of the VIP areas and motioned to one of the servers “get me Sloane”
This was senseless, and my beast fought against me, because I was most definitely making a mistake, but I was past being rational.
If Kennedie can kiss Marvin, I can forget her.
Simple.
I ordered something strong. Then something stronger. The burn down my throat is almost welcome.
She strutted towards me in her dark blue lingerie that had her breasts almost spilling out of their confines and her heels and then there was that confident look in her face. “It’s been a minute since you have been here Sir” she said
I smirked “why don’t you just fucking get to work” I said and she smiled “always hotheaded”
She leaned closer to me. Her hand resting on my thigh like it belonged there and her full breasts right in my peripheral.
This should work.
It always worked.
When she trailed kisses down my neck, it felt so fucking wrong.
There was no spark just my skin crawling like I was doing something dirty. I closed my eyes but all I could see was Kennedie’s face, haunting me.
I pulled away abruptly.
Sloane looked up at me irritated “any problem?” she asked.
I ran a hand through my hair “I am not interested tonight Sloane don’t worry you will be well compensated for your time”
She rolled her eyes “and I was actually having a good time with the other guy” and with that she walked away.
To be honest, Sloane was the only one who’d dare talk to me like that, and right now I did not eve blame her. I was a mess.
The music felt mocking. “Fucking hell” I headed to the bar to get myself another drink, and that’s when I saw her.
It was fucking Judith, and she had one look in her eyes that did not quite sit well
She had been watching.
Of course she was.
She stunted over “Well,” she started, tilting her head. “That was pathetic.”
My grip tightened around my glass. “What the fuck do you want?” because to be honest, I was not in the mood at all for any of this, I mean I could not handle that.
“For you to be here, it means there is trouble in paradise”
I didn’t answer.
“I knew what would happen, Kennedie always after the new shiny things… such a fucking slut-”
I cut her off “keep her name out of your mouth”
My voice was low, a warning that it was best for her to keep.
She raised her hands “alright I get it”
“I will ask again, what the fuck do you want?” I said grabbing her wrist in a tight grip.
She didn’t flinch, just looked at me with hard eyes.
“You know what I want.”
“No.”
“Yes.” Her smile turns cold. “I want what’s mine.”
“It was never yours to begin with”
Her eyes darken. “I need it the most and you do not know the lengths I will go to get what I want”
“Stay the fuck away from Kennedie” I warned.
“You know what to do”
“You are not getting anywhere near her,” I said, voice low and lethal. “Over my dead body.”
She studies me for a long second.
Then she smiled.
“That can be arranged.”
She pulled her wrist free and stepped back. “Do the right thing Desmond, or you would watch everything fall apart” and with that she turned and disappeared into the crowd.
