Chapter 206 Black Wedding (I)
Chapter 206 Black Wedding (I)
Kristen's POV
The wedding unfolds as anticipated, with Bruce and Sapphire exchanging vows, sealing their union amidst cheers and smiles. And guests showers the newlyweds with gifts and congratulations.
Calhoun really outdid himself on this one, wanting to give his beta and best friend the possible best for standing by his side throughout the years.
"Congratulations, Bruce and Sapphire! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!"
"You make a stunning couple! Here's to a beautiful future together!"
People cannot hide their compliments for both Bruce and Sapphire, indeed they look perfect together. Sapphire is almost as tall as Bruce and they look so in love with eachother. And hopefully nothing like mates comes in between to separate them, because I wouldn't wish for them what Calhoun and I have suffered.
As the celebration moves to the reception, guests from within and outside the pack presents more and more gifts to the newlyweds.
The air is filled with laughter and excitement, creating an atmosphere of pure celebration.
Sapphire has a grateful look on her face when she stares at me from the high table. I know it's because of the little talk I used in straightening her up, when she tried to ditch the wedding, from feeling she wasn't good enough.
Thank you. She mouths at me while staring at me with so much appreciation.
Blowing her a little kiss, I reward her with a wink.
Turning to Calhoun, who is trying to spoon feed Aiden blended beef, I put my hand on his shoulder.
"What?" Calhoun stares at me with concern, "do you feel tired? Is it the baby?"
"No," I shake my head at him, admiring how he's paying so much attention to me and our son at the same time.
"I'm just glad all the drama is over and grateful you did this for Bruce and mostly Sapphire."
Calhoun doesn't respond to this, he just gives me a little smile and then goes back to feeding Aiden.
Something I can do myself but he always finds the slightest opportunity he can get, to bond with Aiden. He's such a great father and he doesn't even know it yet.
In the midst of the reception, a man clad in a pristine white suit approaches Bruce and Sapphire at their high table, bearing gifts.
He seems strange, I can swear I haven't seen him anywhere before.
And Bruce who is listening to what Sapphire is telling him, asks her to hold for a second before turning his gaze to the man in front of him.
"Congratulations, to you two," The man speaks up a last, while holding his gift, "And what a beautiful bride you make, Sapphire," he commends.
Sapphire blushes and thanks the strang man for his kind words.
While Bruce who is yet to say a word, puts his hand on his chin and looks as the stranger places a carefully wrapped gift on the table, then motions for Bruce to step out for a private conversation.
"Bruce, my friend, there's something I need to tell you. Let's step aside for a moment," he says.
Bruce blinks in confusion, with a slight frown on his face and it's clear he doesn't know this man and hasn't met him before.
"It's just a harmless conversation, Bruce. I don't bite," the man raises his hands in a friendly non- threatening manner, looking completely amused. And I notice Calhoun getting seemingly serious, with his gaze fixated on this man. I can tell he's not exactly comfortable but he's just doing his best to stay out since it's Bruce the man approached and not him.
From the high table, Bruce kisses Sapphire on the cheek and tells her he'll be back in a moment. She responds with a genuine smile. The love between them is palpable, and people keep awwning and wowing to their warmth towards each other.
My husband's beta has a lingering grin on his face as he turns away from his wife to the stranger waiting for him. And then the seems completely intrigued as he leaves the table and approaches the strange man.
As Bruce nears the stranger man, I can't fail to notice how the man's demeanor shifts quickly into
contempt.
In an instant, he unleashes a swift and brutal attack, digging his claws into Bruce's chest and ripping his
heart out.
Sapphire's joyful expression turns to horror, and her scream pierces through the air.
The stranger callously tossed Bruce's heart in her face, leaving her in shock. And I almost lose consciousness, because it's too much for me to take.
Bruce, now lifeless, collapses to the ground, his eyes wide and mouth agape.
The whole atmosphere is full with panic and screams.
Sapphire's shrill cries echoes, and my husband, Calhoun, sensing the danger, leaps to his feet.
While our guards, upon witnessing this gut- wrenching scene, scramble to surround the whole
place.
"Get the bride away from there! Hurry!"
"Secure the area! Protect the guests!"
It's Calhoun, barking orders at his men and guards.
As the guards encircles the chaos, Calhoun bellows, " Find the murderer!"
And gasps flow as the stranger runs through the crowd, zigzagging so as not to get caught by the guards lunging at him.
Panic and confusion sweeps through the crowd at this.
And my husband decides to take matters into his hand by charging at the killer, but he's quick to shift
and trick the guards in running into themselves, and he's able to escape.
For a moment, I can't hear anything else as Bruce's
lifeless body lay on the ground, and my best friend who is, overwhelmed with grief, weeps
uncontrollably.
I stand frozen, unable to comprehend the nightmare
unfolding before my eyes. Bruce, Calhoun's loyal beta, lay dead on his wedding day.
Calhoun's agonized scream reverberates through the
hall as he rushes back to Bruce's side, after missing out on catching Bruce's murderer.
My heart tightens in my chest to the extent I forget
how it is to breath properly.
And my legs are doing a shuddering dance, way out of
my control.
Sapphire lay on Bruce's lifeless body with his blood smearing across her wedding dress. Her wails are loud enough to echo across the hall.
The once-joyful celebration has transformed into
unspeakable tragedy, leaving everyone in shock and disbelief.
Is this happening?
I need someone to wake me up from this nightmare.
I can feel tears welling in my eyes as the reality sinks in even deeper. Bruce, Calhoun's beta and best friend, is gone.
