Chapter 161 A Beast?
Kristen's POV
"You must be out of your mind," it's my time to chuckle.
"I mean every word, Kristen. Every fucking word," Theodore holds onto the iron bars and stares at me with pleading gray eyes. Eyes that are enough to make me sick. Because I hate the fact that he's affecting me deeply, that we share a connection I never wanted in the first place.
"How dare you?" I am close enough to yell, but my brain aches so bad that I can't. Now, I am starting to think that I am in the wrong for coming here. Had I known, I would have listened to Doctor Melbourne, taken my
medications, and rest like the injured patient that I am
"You know I am married to Calhoun, and I have his son," I continue talking by stating the obvious.
"You can bring the little boy along
with you, I'll take care of him as my
own," Theodore says softly.
And this is close enough to drive me insane.
"Can you even hear yourself, Theodore? Asking the Greyhound Luna to elope with you, along with her son? "I cast him an incredulous look.
"It's the right thing to do," His expression is steadfast and resolute.
"You're married to Calhoun, yet we were made mates," he adds.
"I can't deal with this right now,"
putting my fisted hand on my head, I
close my eyes in dismay.
"Tell me you don't feel this
connection, Kristen, just tell me,"
Theodore continues talking, making my head hurt twice as much as it did before.
"Can't you fucking stop?" I grit out to avoid wincing.
"Listen to me.."
"I came here to help you, so you can leave this pack as soon as possible or Calhoun will kill you,"
"I'll take it that you're second- guessing yourself about running away
with me because I am not well off like Calhoun,"
And it's so upsetting that he's not
getting the point when I am only
looking out for him.
"Are you even listening to me? I don't
want to think you have a hearing
problem."
"We can't be apart from each other,
can't you see?" Theodore says.
While I just shake my head at him in disappointment.
"You know what? I'll just go and leave
you to Calhoun," I attempt to turn
away from him, but the words that
erupt from his mouth make me stiff.
"Then I'll tell Calhoun everything. Including the part you made me hide under the bed,"
"Are you trying to blackmail me?"
Fear slams through my heart and makes my body tremble.
"No...I just..." Theodore seems to be
lost in frustration right now. He looks away from me just to rake his fingers through his hair. Then he pants and puffs before staring at me once more.
"Can't you see how much I want you?" There's so much yearning and desperation in his eyes.
"It's not about what you want but by
doing the right thing," I admit.
"But..." Theodore tries to persist but I interrupt him.
"Calhoun is my mate, my husband, my
Alpha. And believe me when I say I love him with everything inside of me, and I will never leave him...even if something terrible comes up, I'd rather stay and die by his side." I say,
meaning every word.
"Stop!" Theodore growls at me, silencing me immediately.
And when I look at him, I can see how
his eyes are growing dark with anger and jealousy.
"Nothing or no one could ever separate
me from Calhoun, you hear me!?" This time, I ignore the hurt in my head and
scream.
"I said stop!" The enraged man yells again, with bared fangs this time.
And fear makes me recoil and step backward from his iron bars. Because I have never seen anyone look so
bloodthirsty and dangerous like Theodore.
He seems completely different, like
someone else. And I am starting to think there's more to him that I don't even know.
"Kristen..." his voice softens, and the monstrous-looking mask on his face wears off when he senses my fear. It's
almost like a switch getting turned off.
I take a rough gulp and remain in my spot. Umoving and not blinking. "I am sorry for yelling at you like that...
I let my anger get the best of me," Theodore apologizes, looking genuinely sorry.
And I know I will not give in. Nor will I
listen to more of what he has to say. It was wrong of me to come here in the first place.
"I should go, it's futile to stay here and
try to convince you to follow my steps. "I turn my back to him, ready to take my leave.
"No, wait.." Theodore tries to stop me. But it's already too late.
The dizziness and lightheadedness start coming up once more, and I hold
onto a nearby wall for support to regain myself.
"Kristen, are you okay?" I can hear the panic in Theodore's voice.
My brain hurts like I was sledgehammer, and the flashbacks of my car slamming into the giant tree start weighing me down. "Kristen.." Theodore pounds his fists
on the iron bars with force..and the impact makes them tremble. Wincing, I put my hand on my head
because that's where I feel the most pain..and upon staring at my hand, I see blood.
"Help!" Theodore yells at the top of
his lungs. But it's futile because no one can hear him.
He's slamming that cell gate with his body until his clothes are starting to get torn and he's beginning to bleed.
But like a monster, he's not close to stopping.
My vision blurs and my knees immediately give out underneath me, making my body drop to the floor with a thud. Theodore screams my name once more before shifting into this black, six- foot, fear-instilling, robust wolf. Although my eyes are starting to get obscured due to the pain which is highly stimulating to my senses, but my mouth still parts in horror because this dangerous-looking wolf is twice the size of Calhoun's wolf. It's the first
time I have seen such a large wolf. That's not all, the iron bars get uprooted from the cell, and he sprints towards me. And my eyes give into the darkness,
making it the second time I am fainting in front of Theodore.
