Chapter 114 Kristen
Kristen's POV
"What do you want from me, Calhoun?" I ask, in a dangerously low tone.
"Do you know how scared I was when I learned that you went
missing?" Calhoun has so much concern in his eyes that I can feel my breath getting caught up in my throat.
Why does he have to look this way? It would have been better if he was angry at me, yelling or something, so I could hate him. But he's doing none of that. And it just makes my insides soften.
I want to stay mad at him for as long as I can, but having him look at me this way is just ruining my plans.
"I wasn't missing, I left by myself," my voice is firm.
"How could you do that, I was so worried for your sake," Calhoun nears my side but I just take a step back from him.
"Why should you be? Shouldn't you be focusing on your Emilia," I mutter with so much distaste.
Calhoun looks away from me for some seconds, rakes his hair, and sighs.
"I don't even know how to start defending myself because you won't believe me," he looks back at me.
"What's there to believe when you've been cheating on me this whole time?" I accuse, already getting upset once more when Emilia's giggles ring in my ears.
"I would never in my right senses cheat on you," Calhoun explains.
"So you mean to tell me that you were high or something?" I find it amusing that he's trying to justify what he did.
Calhoun pants and puffs before saying, "It's a long story,"
"Hah, as if I care to know," I huff out and fold my arms across my chest.
"Kristen, if only you'll give me a chance to explain myself, trust and understand me," this time Calhoun puts his hands on
And, surprisingly, I'm calm.
"I'm afraid my trust for you is gone," I rasp out, avoiding his gaze because it's affecting me.
I see him take a gulp because his Adam's apple bobs up.
"Why are you even here?" I push his hands off me.
"Because I looked everywhere for you until I was told you're here," Calhoun nears my side once more.
"Now that you've seen that I am fine, you should leave," Just as I am about walking out on Calhoun, he stops me by capturing my wrist and pulling me closer to him.
"I'm not stupid to do that, I can't let you out of my sight anymore," the look in his eyes shows that he's serious.
"What will you do? Kidnap me?"
"It's not safe for a pregnant woman to be alone,"
"No one's gonna hurt me, Calhoun. And I'm not planning on staying here. I want to go farther away from here, where I'll not see your face anymore,'
"You're really going to do this to us, Kristen?" He looks at me with sadness in his eyes.
"You put an end to 'us,' when you went after another woman."
Before I can grasp what's going on, I am in Calhoun's arms.
"What the heck are you doing? Fucking put me down!" I yell.
"I'm sorry but I have to do this." With this, he takes me out, despite my protests, and hits against his chest.
It's upsetting to be back in this mansion which is filled with so many memories I don't want to dwell on.
Calhoun brought me back here despite all of my protests.
According to him, he's trying to protect me. He used his power on me, to the extent that I couldn't even struggle but had to give in at
last.
Still, my poor heart cannot contain what he did to me.
The video keeps replaying in my head even though Janette deleted it
from my phone.
It's still so fresh like it happened yesterday.
Emilia's giggles, how she ran her hands through Calhoun's back.
The flashback is enough to make me nauseous.
Someone opens the door without even knocking.
It's Calhoun. And not knocking is a die-hard habit of his.
"It's been four days but you've lost weight," there's guilt in
Calhoun's eyes.
"What do you even care?" I frown at him.
I don't fail to notice how pain flashes through his face and how fast he's able to mask it up.
"You're not alone anymore, there's life growing inside of you," he says softly.
"Oh, so you worry more about the child that's why you brought me here against my own will?" This is me being petty.
"I couldn't let you stay with Ben, he's obsessed with you," Calhoun looks upset after making this known to me. And it's just insane that
he's jealous.
"At least he wouldn't have hurt me like you did. Ben is overly sensitive to my feelings," I blurt out before I can even stop myself.
"You will not talk about another man like that in front of me," This time, Calhoun doesn't hide the fact that he's upset.
"What will you do?" I challenge, and I don't fail to notice how petty I am. I was never this way. Calhoun's cheating changed me and right now, I hate and still love him at the same time.
I want him here and I still don't want him around me.
Calhoun goes on his knees in front of me and puts his hands on my
legs. His eyes are soft, pleading.
"Kristen..."
And I can feel my throat tightening with the emotions inside of me.
He has no right to make me feel this way when he hurt me.
How dare he look so innocent and sorry at the same time!?
I miss him. So much that it hurts, yet this part of me has already
created a huge barrier between us. Where I'll never let my guard down and accept him with open arms.
It's like an invisible force. That's the weight of his cheating and my heartbreak.
"Kristen..." he calls my name softly and reaches for my hands.
But someone immediately makes their way into the room without
even knocking.
It's Bruce, Calhoun's Beta. And from the look on his face, something
doesn't seem right.
"Alpha Morrison is here to see you, he came with his men." He announces, right before Calhoun can question him.
And I don't fail to see how a cloud befalls Calhoun's face.
