Chapter 80
Third Person’s Point of View
In Krea’s World
Queen Zeno nodded and turned to leave, her mind already working on the logistics of the upcoming battle.
As she walked through the palace hallways, she couldn't help but think about the goddesses. They were powerful beings beyond human comprehension, with the ability to control elements and perform miracles. She had only ever met one of them, but their reputation preceded them. The question was, would they agree to help?
She arrived at her chambers and dismissed her attendants, wanting some time alone to think. She sat down at her desk and took out some parchment and a quill.
"My dearest goddesses," she wrote. "I humbly request your aid in our fight against the shadow creatures. Our guardians are strong, but they alone cannot defeat this ancient evil. If you agree to help, I offer you a share of our resources and protection from any future threats to your divine beings. Please consider our proposal and let us know if there is anything else we can do to entice you to join us in battle."
She sealed the letter with the emblem of her kingdom and called for a messenger to take it to the nearest goddess shrine.
All she could do now was wait and hope that the goddesses would agree to help them. The fate of their people depended on it.
Meanwhile, in the shadow realm, the shadow king was gathering his forces for the impending battle. He knew that the queens were planning something, but he didn't know what. All he knew was that he needed to be ready for anything.
He summoned his most trusted advisor, a creature made entirely of shadows known only as the Darkling.
"The queens are planning an attack," the shadow king said. "We need to be prepared for whatever they have in store for us."
The darkling nodded. "We have already started bolstering our defenses, but I fear that they may have enlisted the help of the goddesses."
The shadow king's eyes widened in surprise. "The goddesses? Those change everything. We do not want to go against them."
"We have no choice," the Darkling said. "If the goddesses are involved, we must fight or be destroyed."
The shadow king sighed. "Very well. Prepare our guardians and send scouts to find out exactly what the queens are planning. We cannot afford to be caught off guard."
As the shadow king's forces prepared for battle, the queens were doing the same. They were training their guardians, gathering supplies, and making alliances with neighboring kingdoms.
Queen Zeno waited anxiously for a response from the goddesses. She knew that time was running out and that they needed their aid as soon as possible.
Days passed with no word from the goddesses. Queen Zeno was about to write a follow-up letter when a messenger arrived with a bundle of parchment.
She quickly broke the seal and read the message inside.
"My dear Queen Zeno," it began. "We have received your proposal and have given it careful consideration. We understand the threat posed by the shadow creatures and have decided to aid you in your battle. In return, we ask for a share of your resources and for your promise to keep our shrines protected from any future threats. May the gods watch over us in this coming conflict."
Queen Zeno let out a sigh of relief. With the goddesses on their side, they had a chance at victory. She quickly sent word to the other queens, and they began preparations for the final battle.
On the day of the battle, the guardians met on a vast plain. The queens' guardians wore their respective kingdom's colors, while the shadow creatures were dark and foreboding.
The goddesses arrived moments later, escorted by a group of their most loyal followers. They floated above the battlefield, their presence commanding awe and respect.
"Let us begin," Queen Zeno said to her guardian wolves.
The guardians charged forward, and the battle cries rang out across the land. The shadow creatures unleashed their dark magic, while the queens' guardians fought with all their might.
The goddesses joined the battle; their powers were more than a match for the shadow creatures. They summoned fire, ice, and lightning, decimating the enemy forces.
Despite the shadow creatures' best efforts, they were no match for the combined might of the queens and the goddesses. The battle raged on for hours, but eventually, the shadow creatures were defeated.
The queens' guardians cheered with victory, and cheers erupted across the plain. It was a costly victory, with many lives lost, but it was worth it to protect their people from the shadow creatures' evil.
Queen Zeno walked over to the goddesses, her head bowed in gratitude.
"Thank you for your help," she said, her voice filled with emotion. "We could not have defeated them without you."
The goddesses smiled down at her. "It was our pleasure, Queen Zeno. We must always stand together against evil. The shadow creatures were a blight on this land for far too long."
With the war over, the guardians returned to their respective kingdoms, and the queens began rebuilding their lands.
Queen Zeno sat on her throne, thinking about the events of the past few weeks. She knew that the war had changed her and made her stronger and more decisive. She had also formed alliances with the other queens, knowing that together they were far more powerful than apart.
And, most importantly, she had gained the respect and aid of the goddesses. The knowledge that they were watching over their people brought her great comfort and peace.
She smiled to herself, knowing that she had made the right decision in seeking their aid. The queens had come together to defeat the shadow creatures, and in doing so, they had formed a bond that would last a lifetime.
Queen Zeno stood at the edge of her kingdom, staring out at the vast expanse of land before her. The sun was setting, casting a beautiful orange and pink haze across the sky. As she stood there, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over her. It had been years since she had been back to this place, but it still felt like home.
Zeno turned her attention to the castle behind her, looming large in the distance. It was a massive structure made of white stone and looked more like a fortress than a palace. But the people of her kingdom loved it, and it had stood the test of time.
She took a deep breath and began to make her way towards the castle. The journey was familiar to her, and her memories flooded back with each step she took. She remembered running through these same fields as a child, playing hide-and-seek with her siblings.
By the time she reached the castle gates, it was dark outside. But the guards recognized her immediately and opened the gates without question. Zeno strode through the entrance, taking in the familiar sights and smells of the castle.
The first thing she noticed was the sound of music coming from the great hall. She followed the sound, her heart beating faster with anticipation. She peeked inside and saw that there was a celebration taking place. Her subjects were all gathered, and they were dancing and laughing and having a wonderful time.
As she made her way through the crowd, people noticed her and began to bow and greet her. Zeno smiled and nodded, but her eyes kept scanning the room. She was looking for someone in particular.
And then she saw her.
Asclepius was dancing in the center of the room, her long black hair swirling around her as she twirled. She was wearing a simple white dress, but it was her smile that caught Zeno's attention. She looked genuinely happy, and that made Zeno's heart swell with pride.
She approached Asclepius and tapped her on the shoulder. Asclepius turned, and her smile widened as she recognized Zeno.
"Your Majesty!" she exclaimed, bowing deeply.
Zeno raised her hand to stop her. "No need for formalities, Asclepius. We are among friends."
Asclepius straightened up and smiled. "It's good to see you, Zeno."
Zeno smiled back. "It's good to be back."
They stood in silence for a moment, taking in the music and the dancing. Zeno noticed that Asclepius had a partner and was dancing with him, so she decided to move on and mingle with the other guests.
She made her way around the room, greeting people and enjoying the festivities. It felt good to be back among her people and to see them so happy. It reminded her of why she became queen in the first place.
As the night wore on, Zeno found herself growing tired. She had been traveling for days to get back to her kingdom, and the journey had taken a toll on her. She retreated to her chambers and fell asleep almost immediately.
The following morning, Zeno woke up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. She spent the day catching up with her advisors and making plans for the future of her kingdom. She was optimistic about the future and felt that her people were in good hands.
But as the days went on, Zeno began to feel a sense of restlessness. She had come back to her kingdom for a reason, but she wasn't sure what that reason was. She found herself wandering the castle halls aimlessly, trying to figure out what she was supposed to do next.
One afternoon, she found herself in the castle's library, pouring over old texts and scrolls. She had always loved reading, and the library was one of her favorite places in the castle. As she read through the texts, she stumbled upon a scroll that caught her attention.
It was an old prophecy, foretelling a great threat that would one day come to the kingdom. Zeno had read this scroll before, but this time something about it caught her attention. She couldn't shake the feeling that this prophecy was somehow connected to her restlessness.
She spent the next few days researching the prophecy and trying to decipher its meaning. She talked with her advisors and consulted with the kingdom's seers. They all told her the same thing: the prophecy was vague, and they had no way of knowing when or how it would come true.
But Zeno couldn't shake the feeling that the prophecy was somehow important. She decided to take matters into her own hands and began to prepare her kingdom for any potential threat.
She ordered the construction of new barriers and fortifications around the kingdom's borders. She increased the size of the royal army and began to train her guardians in new, innovative battle strategies. She even consulted with neighboring kingdoms, seeking their advice and wisdom.
Months passed, and nothing happened. Zeno began to wonder if she had been overreacting. But then, one day, a messenger arrived at the castle gates with urgent news.
There was a neighboring kingdom, one that had been peaceful for years, that had suddenly declared war on Zeno's kingdom. The message was clear: they intended to invade and take over.
Zeno knew that this was the threat she had been preparing for. She ordered her guardians to mobilize, and they marched out to meet the invading force.
What followed was a fierce battle, with both sides taking heavy losses. But Zeno's guardians were well trained, and their strategies proved to be effective. They were able to hold off the invaders, which eventually forced them to retreat.
Zeno had won the battle, but she knew that her kingdom was not yet safe. She spent the next few months fortifying her kingdom's borders even further, determined to never let her guard down again.
The incident had caused Zeno to realize something important: the realm she ruled was not just a place she had inherited, but it was her home. She had devoted her life to it and would continue to do so. She would never let her people fall prey to another invasion.
From that day forward, Queen Zeno ruled her kingdom with an even greater sense of pride and determination. She had faced a great threat but had emerged stronger for it. And as long as she was queen, her kingdom would always remain safe and secure.
