Chapter 3

I sense something earlier, it feels like someone is staring at me from behind.

Today is the mating game and I hope that I will find my mate there but if it is contrary to what I expected then I don't have a choice but to pull out my last remarks.

My wolf has been so ballistic for how long I know. Good thing, I can still control myself but the pain is intolerable.

I also want to find my mate. Holding her in my arms makes me want to find her already. I feel so empty without her and it makes me so mad at everything.

Good thing, Elders were there to assist any conflict that the packs are facing these days.

A knock from the door took me out of my thoughts.

"Come in" I said, still my sight stayed on staring at the scenery.

I heard the door open and close and someone standing beside me.

"Alpha King, the mating game is ready, the Elders are already there and everyone is just waiting for your arrival." My beta said beside me.

"Let's go then" I said and went out of my room with my beta trailing behind.

"Does everyone think that I'll be participating in the game?" I asked as we walked downstairs through the front door.

"Yes Alpha but we fixed it already." He said

"Then let's move along" I said and shift on my wolf to run where the game will be held.

We passed some trees at a fast speed until we saw the field of the mating game.

We shifted behind the trees and changed into our clothes we brought. As I walked through them, they immediately noticed my presence and bowed down a little for respect.

"Goodmorning Alpha King" Everyone greeted me simultaneously.

I nod in response.

"Everyone get ready and the game will begin in any minute." I said and sat on my awaiting chair where I could see everyone.

The Elders sit at the chairs below me.

The participants have already fallen in line.

Women will run in the forest and hide while men will give them a head start then will chase and choose their mate.

The sound alarm and the women run through the forest.

During the game, I didn't smell any single scent of my mate. I stood up and decided to walk to the forest.

I walk past all the wolves who're still finding their chosen mate. Some will stop and give respect to my presence.

As I scan the surroundings, I'd sense someone was lingering and staring at me so I acted like I didn't know her/his location and moved near where he/she was hiding.

As I'm only inches from that person, I think she/he thought that I still haven't spotted where he/she was hiding.

I immediately moved fast and pulled that person's arms and cage her-definitely a she- with my body and the tree.

I was stunned at first as I couldn't help but stare at her golden eyes and pretty face but I held my posture.

"Why are you here?" I asked and take a whip of her scent that made me fluttered my eyes close as it was so intoxicating and smelled like-

"MATE!" my wolf yell

I was stunned and immediately opened my eyes but I saw nothing of her presence but I'm sure, I'm holding her wrist so tight so how did she escape?

I punch the tree in anger that causes it to fall on the ground.

I already had a chance to be with her. Why did she run? Oh. Game on. I'll definitely find you mate.

I walked back to the field and saw that everyone was already here and the game had ended.

"I want all Alphas to be in the meeting room after 10 minutes, a decline will be removed from his rank." I said to my beta through mindlink

"Yes Alpha King" he replied back through mindlink.

I run back through my kingdom and get ready for the meeting.

After 10 minutes, I walked inside the meeting room and every Alpha acknowledged my presence.

I stand up with authority in front of them and look at them seriously.

"I want you all to bring any girls with golden eyes in the kingdom. No question needed to be asked. This is an order to all of you. Anyone who failed to do this will be tortured and killed. Meeting adjourned." I said and walked out of the room.

If the only way to find you mate is through harsh ways then I will do it and by the end of it you are with me in my arms.

As I stood on the balcony, I'd seen all Alphas had run back to their pack to start on what I'd ordered.

That's good if they want to stick with their life.

Someone's get inside my room, I immediately recognised that it was my beta Jaw.

"What's with the immediate meeting?" He asked

"I've found my mate." I said.

"R-really? Did you know where she is?" He asked with gladness in his voice.

"No" I said and face him

"When I open my eyes, she's gone." I said in confusion.

"Did you see what she looks like?" he asked

I reminisce about what happened earlier. She was wearing a mask and I'd only seen her eyes as I stared at it for a moment.

“No, but she has golden eyes so I want all of the women who have golden eyes to be brought here.” I said as I looked at my Beta.

He nodded and left my room to meet the Alphas.

Really did confuse me why did she leave me? Is she one of the participants?
