Chapter 107 - IT'S THE END

I slowly open my eyes, slowly regaining consciousness. My body feels heavy, as if I am trapped in a perpetual sleep. The room becomes blurry for a few moments, but I slowly manage to focus my gaze on the ceiling. I am in Genrant's room, or rather, our room. I try to move my hands, which still seem numb, and as I do so, a tingling spreads up one of my arms, where an IV is connected to a bag of what appears to be blood, hanging on a metal stand next to the bed. I keep moving my hand until I achieve my task, but with the other arm I can't do the same. I feel a sensation of immobility, as if I were tied up. Gently, I turn my face so as not to make any sudden movements, and as I do so, I realize the reason why I cannot move.

Genrant is beside me, sound asleep, holding me tightly almost as if he is clinging to me with all his might. His head rests on my arm, and I can feel his warm breath brush against my skin. I don't want to wake him; he looks so tired. Amidst the silence of the room, only his quiet breathing can be heard, mingling with mine. I find the scene beautiful, and I stare at his face in fascination. Her eyelids are puffy and reddened, as if she had been crying.

I lightly touch my belly, silently praying that all has gone well. Other than the ache in the muscles of my body, I feel nothing else strange or painful. I gently withdraw my hand and direct it towards Genrant's face. I just want to touch him a little, wondering if our baby will have eyes as pretty as his, or eyelashes as long as his. As I run my fingers through his lashes, even with the gentlest of caresses, Genrant's eyes pucker slightly before slowly opening. I try to withdraw my hand, but he stops me and takes it gently, bringing it back to his face. It rests on his cheek, where it rests gently as he closes his eyes tightly before opening them fully and looking up at me.

"You finally wake up, sleepyhead," I murmur with a smile, my voice full of tenderness.

"I could tell you the same thing, I missed you," he murmurs too with his voice full of relief, his hand gently caressing my cheek.

"I wasn't gone so long this time? did I?" I can't help but feel a hint of anxiety at the possibility of having been unconscious for weeks or even months again.

"Nothing like that, it just seemed like an eternity to me," he replies with a comforting smile.

"So, thank you for waiting patiently for me," I say tenderly, but worry still clings to my voice as I ask the question that haunts me, "Genrant, is the baby...?"

"The baby is fine," he replies promptly, and I feel a huge relief flood my being. Genrant deposits a kiss on my cheek, his words a balm to my soul, "My blood and yours were compatible, you already had some wolf genes in your system, so everything went excellent."

I look at him in disbelief and alarm at that revelation. "Wolf genes? But how?"

"It's all thanks to our puppy. The wolf gene predominates over the human in him and, therefore, he shares his strength with you. We only have one problem," Genrant replies, his calm tone contrasting with the gravity of his words.

"One problem?" my senses go on alert, wondering if there is something wrong with me. Did something happen while I was unconscious?

"This will delay the wedding plans," Genrant says casually, as if he hasn't given me a scare, a smile gracing his face as he hugs me and leans against my chest.

"I don't need a wedding to show how much I love you," I murmur sincerely, my words laden with affection and conviction.

"Not even in front of your mother?" insists Genrant, his gaze searching mine with trepidation.

"I think she'll understand," I reply confidently, trying to convey confidence in our shared decisions.

"Good thing you woke up, everyone is gathered downstairs," Genrant comments, a hint of relief in his tone.

"Everyone?" my voice sounds surprised, as I try to process the idea that the whole pack is waiting for me.

"The whole pack is worried, they're waiting for you, just waiting for their moon to open its eyes," Genrant explains solemnly, his words echoing in the emotionally charged air.

"I've tried to get them to leave, but sometimes they're a little uncontrollable when they're worried," Genrant begins, his voice laden with frustration and concern. "There's also someone else who is waiting for you very worried, someone who wants to apologize to you."

"With me? Who could it be?", I ask curiously, my mind full of anticipation.

"Kyle," Genrant replies, and I feel a knot in my stomach at the sound of his name.

"Kyle! I forgot," I try to get up quickly, but Genrant holds me firmly and gently pushes me back down gently flat on the bed again, preventing me from fully sitting up.

"Don't move so much, my bunny," Genrant murmurs tenderly, concerned for my well-being. His gesture comforts me, but the intrigue about Kyle still lingers in my mind.

"If Sora has betrayed us, what will happen to the cub?" I ask in a whisper filled with worry and fear.

"Relax, you'll have plenty of time to check on the puppy," Genrant tries to calm me down, but my impatience continues to grow and I try again to get up.

"Genrant," I call urgently, looking for answers in his gaze.

"Yes, my bunny?" Genrant looks at me with concern as he holds my hands between his.

"What will happen to Kyle now that Sora is gone?" my voice trembles with anxiety as I search his eyes for answers.

He lets out a heavy sigh before answering, his expression becoming more serious, leaving behind any trace of a smile. "He had a hand in your kidnapping, despite not knowing what he was doing influenced by his mother's words. Everything about that puppy has been decided, well, actually, almost everything."

"What do you mean by that?" my concern intensifies, and my stomach twists at the thought that something bad might happen to him. I don't want Kyle to suffer in any way; he's just a kid.

"I'm just waiting to proceed. It's the most important decision," Genrant explains, but his ambiguity only adds to my unease. "And only you can make it."

"Me?" Surprise and bewilderment fill my words as I try to comprehend what Genrant has just revealed to me.

"Of course, you are the moon of our herd, you have to make the decisions with me. We both have to look out for the welfare of the pack," Genrant says as he looks at me expectantly.

"What are the options?" I ask, my hands sweat and I squeeze the sheet tightly, trying to find calm in the midst of the tension.

"Kyle will have to pay for all the mess his mother left behind. It's only fair," Genrant declares before I can even object. But before she can respond, he continues. "Or he can stay in the pack and prove that he's not like his mother, that his intentions were never evil."

"Is the final decision mine?" I ask with determination. Genrant nods in response. I inhale deeply, trying to calm my nerves, then exhale firmly. "Then...Kyle will stay in the pack, and he will never, hear me well, NEVER be judged for whatever it is his mother did," my voice echoes with determination in the room. This is the best option. Basically, I have to choose whether the puppy lives or dies. I touch my belly lightly before holding Genrant's gaze, who watches me seriously.

I won't let anything bad happen to the cub, even if it means going against Genrant's words.

"Great," Genrant replies, slowly assimilating all the information. "In that case, Tristan said he could take care of the puppy, he'll take it as if it were his son, although I think he'd rather take it as a sort of disciple. But don't worry about that, I won't leave the whole burden to him. I told him that I will support him in everything that puppy needs. I can't let anyone in my pack suffer because of me."

My mouth drops open at his words. "Did you already have it all planned out?" I ask, accusing him almost playfully, as Genrant simply shrugs.

"I was just waiting for my moon's words to begin," he replies calmly.

"What if I had given a different order? If I had chosen to punish you for what Sora did?" I pose, still intrigued by the possibilities.

"I would have complied with your orders without objection," Genrant assures me confidently.

"Even if that would have endangered an innocent puppy?" my voice sounds more serious, worried about the implications of my decisions.

"I trust my partner. You would never have made a decision that would have harmed someone innocent, not even if your life depended on it," Genrant replies with absolute conviction.

"You seem to think too highly of me, my bunny," I say, letting a smile form on my face.

"Bunny? Did you just call me your bunny?" asks Genrant, surprised by the nickname.

"Yes, you call me bunny, and you're my partner, shouldn't I call you my bunny too? I don't see what's wrong with that," I retort mischievously.

"Touche, my bunny, touche," Genrant replies, with an amused look as he approaches my lips. I close my eyes, anticipating the soft brush of his lips against mine, his intoxicating breath filling me completely. But just as we are about to kiss, the door bursts open.

"My baby girl!" my mother enters the room and runs to the bed, hugging me with a strength that almost makes me feel like it wants to break my bones.

"Mommy!" I call out to her, trying to make her understand that she is hurting me, but she doesn't seem to hear me, still hugging me tightly.

"You're hurting me!" I yell at her, and with just that statement, my mother immediately lets go of me.

"I'm sorry!" my mother starts to cry, "I was just so worried about you, and they wouldn't let me be near you," she apologizes between sobs.

"When you learn to control yourself, you can be as close to the blood as you want," comments the doctor who appears through the door and leans against the frame with his arms folded across his chest.

"I'm learning to control myself! What's more, I'm almost completely in control already!" my mother replies proudly as she points to herself.

"It hasn't even been a full day since Livy's operation and you've already learned to control yourself?" the doctor arches an eyebrow, skeptical.

"That's right," my mother replies firmly.

"Really? And why are you holding the blood being transferred to Livy?" The doctor's tone is incisive, and I turn to look at my mother, who is indeed holding the bag of blood connected to my IV in her hands.

"I just wanted to accommodate her better! It's just that!" my mother exclaims, clearly flustered, as the doctor takes the blood bag out of her hands and puts it back in place. My mother looks accusingly at the doctor, but he unexpectedly gives her an amused smile.

My mother turns her face and looks at me, changing her expression completely from an angry face to an understanding and loving one towards me. "And do you know what you're going to name it yet?" she asks me with excited eyes as she places her hand over mine on top of my belly and rubs it lightly.

"Well... A name? I hadn't thought of that. What's the best name for this baby?

"It's still too early for that," Genrant interjects, still beside me, resting his head on my shoulder. He doesn't seem to want to detach himself from me, and for some reason, I love that. I take his hand to make him look me in the eye again so I can convey everything I feel for him without having to tell him.

"Actually, I think I have the perfect name for our baby."

ONE YEAR LATER

"Agni! Agni, come back here!" I yell as I watch her turn down a hallway at full speed. I just pray that the front door is closed. "I told you to come!"

Agni runs uncontrollably throughout the mansion. Ever since she learned to transform, she keeps running everywhere. Her dark-as-night fur glows in the light. It's time for her bath, but she won't let me carry her. At this very moment, she is running away from me.

We reach the front door, which luckily is closed. She almost hits the door, but she manages to turn around in time, passes between my legs so fast that I can't catch her again. She still runs out of control, but this time towards her father, who appears out of nowhere. Surely he heard the commotion from his office, and now he openly laughs at my attempt to catch her, not even a little disguised.

Genrant opens his arms at the same time as he crouches down to be more within reach of Agni, who doesn't hesitate to jump into her father's arms.

"Genrant! Don't laugh!" I pretend to be angry as I put my arms in jars and look at them with accusatory eyes. But immediately a smile escapes my lips across my supposedly serious face. I can't be mad at them. Genrant walks up to me holding Agni so she doesn't escape from his arms and looks at me with a lopsided grin and eyes that sparkle playfully.

"How can I not have fun, my bunny, you still think you can beat a wolf?"

"You're still underestimating me, aren't you? My bunny," I smile, knowing how much it embarrasses him that I call him that. I now have a blushing Genrant in front of me. I've managed to perfect my defensive attacks on Genrant, and now he's the one who has to hide his blushes. Instead, I smile triumphantly at my accomplishment. "I just have to use every tactic I know to defeat a wolf," I touch his shoulder lightly and then run my hand over his pecs playfully.

"You're playing with fire, bunny," she murmurs with a smile, but there's a hidden warning in her tone.

"You know I'm not afraid to get burned," I reply mischievously, averting my gaze to Agni, who watches us in confusion but amusement. Then, I glance back at the handsome man who has fallen under my charms. "Maybe we can... try again."

I know Genrant understands what I mean by that, because immediately his eyes seem to burn with embracing flames that want to consume me completely. And I'm willing to let myself be scorched by his caresses. Genrant puts his free arm around me and pulls me close to him, our faces inches apart, our breaths mingling until an unexpected bark exalts us. We both turn to the culprit of the sound and find Agni, who looks at me with her beautiful golden eyes mischievously. I know she is waiting for the slightest opportunity to run away from me again.

Genrant and I look at each other again and laugh together. I reach up to his face and kiss him with all the intensity that burns inside me. I am not letting this man go ever. He is completely mine.
