"Where are we going?"
Aurora glanced at Lexton, who seemed to be very focused on the road ahead.
Just as they finished their good morning greeting, Lexton hurried Aurora out of the room. The man said that his car was ready downstairs, and the Alpha really didn't want to waste any more time.
Lexton didn't even eat the breakfast Oliv had bought him, arguing that he would eat something later when they got into town.
The can of beer the man had downed before taking a shower had managed to partially fill his stomach, leaving Lexton not feeling hungry at all.
"Us?" Lexton asked back. "Of course we're going to have fun. Do you have anything you want to do, Aurora?"
Lexton turned his head briefly to return Aurora's gaze, finding that now his young lover seemed to be thinking.
"What is it?" Aurora pursed her lips. "I don't know what people do when they date. Because honestly, I've never done that before."
Lexton widened his bead reflexively, fixing his sitting position as he was intrigued by what Aurora had just said.
Both of the man's hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, slowing down the throttle down there.
"Really?" asked Lexton incredulously. "Is it true that you've never been on a date before?"
Aurora found the incredulous tone in Lexton's sentence, which made her insecure in a way. The girl felt she might sound old-fashioned, having never dated at all at the age of 20.
Nodding her head unwillingly, Aurora remained honest.
"Some men did approach me openly," Aurora spoke up again. "But my brother told me not to get into a relationship with a man he doesn't know."
Aurora's eyes widened at the mention of Gama, not realizing that the man sitting right next to her was now frozen in place.
Not expecting Aurora to bring Gama between them, Lexton had almost forgotten about the fate and facts written between him and the two sibligs.
"During my stay with Aunt Mary abroad, brother repeatedly asked me whether or not I was dating someone," Aurora said again. "I was once interested in a man who could play the piano, but we've only been friends until now."
Lexton listened carefully to Aurora's every word. The grip of his fingers on the steering wheel strengthened slowly, making the man's knuckles seem to turn white by the second.
Lexton's mind was in turmoil, as he hadn't thought about how he was going to tell Aurora about Gama's whereabouts.
Aurora turned her head, waiting for Lexton's reaction. But she was confused, as the Alpha seemed to have lost focus at the moment.
"Are you listening to me, Mr. Lexton?" Aurora's voice broke Lexton's reverie, making the man flinch with a soft exhale.
"I am listening," Lexton argued. "So because of Gama, you're not dating at all?"
"That's right," Aurora replied, nodding her head. "I just don't want to disappoint my brother, because I know how hard he's fought to make me feel safe and comfortable. Just holding back and being single certainly isn't worth it, with what he fought for my safety."
The traffic light ahead turned red, and Lexton didn't seem to have any intention of catching up. He chose to queue up, unlike the vehicle beside him which was now picking up speed.
They really weren't in a hurry, as today's date was planned to enjoy the city.
Reducing the car's speed, Lexton stopped right behind a jet-black SUV.
"Do you know what your brother did, Aurora?" provoked Lexton this time.
The man realized that they had never really talked about Gama, even after Aurora had shown up and asked the Alpha to be her guardian.
The fact that Gama was no longer on this earth had yet to be conveyed to Aurora, and it seemed only a matter of time before she found out.
Aurora took a breath and let it out slowly. The woman's eyes blinked a few times, along with the shoulders she now shrugged.
"I don't know," she answered honestly. "Gama never told me what he did for a living, or how he survived while we were apart. But he just said that he lived in his world, and brother also told me not to judge the path he had chosen."
This conversation about Gama left Lexton a little disturbed. The mountain-high guilt in his heart caused a throbbing pain that became more pronounced as he realized that he was keeping a huge secret.
A secret that he had not been able to reveal, while Aurora was now his lover.
'Would she be angry if she knew the truth?
'Will Aurora seek revenge for Gama's departure?
'Or will Aurora just turn around and leave me alone?'
The few questions that had crossed his mind left Lexton speechless, as Aurora's voice now filled the car again.
"But now I'm beginning to know how he lived," Aurora continued. "He had two pistols with him when he left that night. Then when I came to you to give you the letter, I came to the conclusion that the place where my brother has been staying is probably a very dangerous place."
Aurora was good at choosing her words. She was still deeply curious about why her brother had disappeared without a word.
But Aurora was also an obedient young girl, which was why she didn't try to find out Gama's whereabouts as her brother had asked her to.
"How well do you know my brother, Mr. Lexton?" Aurora asked this time.
Just as the question slipped smoothly from Aurora's pink lips, the traffic light ahead turned from yellow to green.
Lexton was able to avoid the awkwardness, as he now had to focus on getting the car back into motion.
Before he could answer, Lexton was looking to avoid Aurora's gaze, which was directed straight at him.
Lexton knew the girl was waiting, and that again added to the throbbing the Alpha felt inside.
"Oliv says my brother is one of the best men in your organization," Aurora said again, just as the car was back to mingling with other vehicles at a fairly moderate speed.
Lexton couldn't pretend not to hear, as he now turned his head to look back at Aurora.
"That's right," the Alpha said. "He is one of the best fighters, who also holds the status of Beta."
"The Beta? Is that a nickname like the one you bear, the Alpha?"
Lexton knew Aurora not only possessed above-average beauty, but the young girl was also intelligent in her conclusions.
"You're right again, Aurora," Lexton praised. One of the man's hands slipped from the steering wheel, now aiming to lightly stroke his girlfriend's cheek.
Aurora flashed a smile, welcoming Lexton's hand as he now gently rubbed the man's arm.
"Do you mind if we talk about my brother?" Aurora asked. "Because I really miss him right now."
Lexton smiled back, still enjoying the way their skin rubbed together. Although the rumbling had been present all along in his chest, Lexton really tried to hide it all.
"Of course not," Lexton said again. "This is our date, and I'll do anything you want. As you wish, so will I."
Aurora widened her smile even more, gazing expectantly at Lexton as he was already back to asking questions.
"So, do you know where my brother is, Mr. Lexton?"
