Chapter 15
“WHY do you have to do this over again, Amara?!” Alexander confronted Casey as soon as the harvester that harassed her leaped out of the storage house. “You forgot all about us, but you didn’t forget about your fuck buddy here at the farm?”
Casey’s eyes were wide in shock. She doesn’t understand what he’s talking about or why he’s mad at her. She’s the victim here, but instead of being worried for her, he’s angry and blaming her for what happened.
“Are you just going to look at me? Are you just going to stand there as if you don’t know what just happened?!” Alexander knocked on the empty barrels on her side. It rolled down on the floor, making noises that awakened Casey’s thoughts. “When will you stop hurting me, Amara?!”
“Alexander...” She tried to step closer to him, but he swept her away. “I don’t know him...” she said, and it’s the truth. “He just went on me when the people started to attack me.”
“Enough!” Alexander shouted at her angrily. His eyes were full of hatred and pain, “enough of your lies!”
“Alexander, it’s the truth... I really don’t who he is. He just dragged me here...” Her voice cracked. “I really don’t know him...” She crouched on the floor and started to cry. “I don’t know who they are and why they’re all mad at me. They call me in names, they call me whore... And, I don’t know why...”
“You wanted to know why?” Alexander crouched in front of her. “Because that’s who you are, Amara. That’s how they know you. That’s how you showed them...” His jaw clenched. “And, that man you’re with? His name is Miguel, and he’s your lover—no, he’s just one of your lovers.”
Casey looked straight into Alexander’s eyes, and the pain that she saw in his eyes brought a gallon of tears to her eyes. Why does he have to go through all of this? Why a good man like Alexander has to suffer at the hands of her monster wife?
Tears fell on Casey’s eyes. I wish I was the one that you saw first. I wish I was the one you fell in love with, she said in her mind as she wept in tears. “I don’t know why you have to go all through this, Alexander...”
The man suddenly paused. His brows furrowed as he looked at her. “I should be the one to ask that question. Why do you want me to go all through this?!” He stood and turned his back at her. “All the workers here at Montefort’s Winery knew about your infidelity. They knew how you cheat on me. They knew that you’re having an affair with different men around here...” Alexander’s voice cracked, and it hurts Casey even more. “They all knew that you’re not satisfied with me, that you’re not sexually happy with me... that you don’t really love me. They all knew it because you’re also the one that shamelessly showed your infidelities to them.”
“I’m sorry, Alexander...” Casey said and walked towards him.
“You’re sorry?” he smirked. “After all the things that you did to me before, now you’re sorry?”
“Please give me another chance, Alexander...” Casey asked in between tears. “I want to be a good wife to you. I want to be a good mother to Billie...”
“Do you think you can manipulate me, Amara?” Alexander asked, not looking at her. He’s facing the wine barrels, but Casey can feel that he’s shedding tears. “For the past eight years that we’re married, it was only the first year that you’re nice to me. And the rest seven years, you made my life a hell.”
Casey lowered her head and cried again. Her chest hurt so much that she has to cover her mouth to prevent her loud cries. But she can’t. Her heart is aching for all the bad things that happened to Alexander and her daughter.
“You don’t deserve this...” Casey voiced out unwarily. “You don’t deserve to be treated like this...” As tears fell again from her eyes, she wrapped her arms around him. “A man like you should be loved and respected...”
The rain poured on the rooftop noisily and drowned Casey’s loud cry. For a moment, she thought that Alexander would sweep her away from his back, but he didn’t move even a bit and just let her pressed herself to him as she cried. She knew that she has to control her emotion because they might suspect her identity. But she can’t help it. Especially if it’s Alexander that telling her his feelings and painful memories with the woman he once loved.
Casey buried her face onto Alexander’s crisp coat. “Did you love the Amara that you knew before, Alexander?”
Seconds have passed, but the man didn’t answer. Casey thought that maybe he’s furious at his wife that he can’t bear to talk if he still loves her. But with all the things that he revealed to her, there’s no doubt that he’s still in love with Amara. Casey doesn’t understand why her chest suddenly tightened with that thought.
As much as she wanted to stay like this to him, she can’t. She has many things to know, aside from all the information that Alexander just revealed to her. She was about to remove her hands from him when he suddenly took a breath and spoke.
“I loved you before...” he said in a calmer tone. “My feelings for you were still the same before you gave birth to our daughter. But it vanished day by day after you gave birth... because that’s when you started to become the woman that I never thought I would have as a wife.”
Casey caught speechless. She can taste the extreme pain in Alexander’s voice while saying the words. And, each of it penetrated and wounded her heart deeply.
“Then, the plane accident happened, and you came back to us as a different woman...” He turned to face her. “You’re showing me again the aspects that I loved to you... But, I’m afraid that this is just all temporary...” His jaw clenched. In his handsome face, Casey can see the struggle of a good husband that only wanted to save his family. “I’m afraid that what if you retrieved all your memories? What if you realized that what you are now is far from who you’re supposed to be?”
Casey reached to caress his cheek. “Alexander... I don’t know what I am before. What’s important to me now is how I felt for you. All the memories that I have before are not important. I wanted to make new memories with you and Billie. If you’ll just give me a chance, Alexander...”
“I don’t know if I can still trust you, Amara...”
Those few words hit Casey deep in her heart. Because of all the things that Amara did to him, his heart was wounded deeply. What surprised Casey is the feeling of need to mend him and make his heart brand new again.
“We can always start on the top, Alexander...” she murmured and tiptoed to kiss his lips passionately.
The man wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back deeply until they both lose their breath. But it didn’t stop them from wanting more of each other. Alexander carried her and made her sit on top of the two-layered wine barrels. Casey waited as he started to unbuckle his pants.
“Lie down,” Alexander ordered and positioned himself in front of her legs.
Casey held her breath when he lifted her skirt to remove her underwear and spread her knees. She held on the side of the barrels when Alexander started to thrust his cock inside her. A sharp cry escaped her lips as her insides adjusted to his size. She bit her lip as the pain and pleasure mixed.
“Amara...” Alexander grabbed on her waist and started to move his hips slowly. “Fuck, why are you so tight?”
