Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Persephone’s POV
Takumi looked so goddamned handsome, and fishes were supposed to be soft and squishy and not rock hard like granite. I was still glaring at him for making my hand hurt.
“How is your face so fucking hard?” I shouted at him and Takumi’s eyes were still wide from the shock of the punch and then my shouting I guess. As he said,” Hush! This is not land, and there are far bigger and larger predators here who can gobble you up silently without even making a noise and you won’t be able to do anything so no loud noises.”
“And you thought that bringing your muse here was a good idea?”
“At that time it seemed like a solid idea. You are extremely hard headed and strong and you have no control over your powers and you are going to fight a vicious creature who is going to focus on her viciousness and speed. None of which you have at the moment.”
I glared at him and scowled at him so hard and then said,” You could have got me this pear yourself, couldn’t you? You knew about this place and this object and the history and its powers from before hand so why did you not bring it for me? I mean. If you needed something from me as an exchange of power then I would have given it to you. Do you think that I am someone who doesn’t keep my word?”
Takumi sighed in disbelief and said,” I never said any of this Persephone. I never thought of you like that. The issue with the pearl is, the pearl is going to give its power to the person who has found it. That is why it needs to be you. If you don’t and I take it, then I will be the one with its powers, not you. If I could have taken it for your sake then I would have. But all magic has its own rules and not even the most powerful can rewrite the rules of nature. Nature doesn’t take to it kindly.”
“You can’t possibly think that I can find that in time and reach the duel and fight her after absorbing the powers of this mysterious pearl?” I asked in confusion. Because honestly it did not seem a very doable thing to me.
“It is, but you need to find the way out, reaching to the ocean and calling it out to help you. You are the one who has to do that and reaching to the duel in time is my responsibility. I can assure you of that,” he said with a kind smile and then he pulled me close so my naked body and I slightly shivered at his touch. Then he softly added,” I know that you are someone who can find out ways even when there are none and you will find that you have strength and powers beyond the understanding of any of us. You are someone who will forge her own path, Persephone and all that I can do is slightly guide you or nudge in the direction that you can blaze your own path.”
“It certainly doesn’t seem like nudging Tak. It most definitely looked like drowning,” I said with a scowl and he sniggered but he kept his voice low and said,” Take a dip, Persephone. Take a dip and you will soon know what I am trying to tell you. You might find something absolutely new that you weren’t even looking for. The ocean of any realm is a treasure trove of so much, and the oldest and most sordid tales of magic, all stem from water. You will be able to feel that once you understand the magic that surrounds you. This place is not accessible to everyone, sweetie…so please do make the best of it.”
I did not know why he was telling me this or even if I will be able to find the pearl or not but I knew that for the sake of all that he made me go through I needed to try.
So I took in a deep breath of air and dipped my head underwater and blew out a bubble envisioning that it would be big enough to cover my head and soon I was breathing air freely underwater. And I started swimming inside the cove. As I swam inside I found that it was darker than outside and I could still see thankfully and I found that there were so many dark coloured coral reefs underneath. I had never seen corals of such dark hue before even on television. It was all shades of red and brown and maroon and black and then there were sea horses and octopus which was staring at me strangely with huge eyes.
I lifted my hand and waved at them and the sea horse smirked at me. I gasped out so loud that it showed its teeth and said,” Pretty girl you are…come here to stay?”
I could not even think that the sea horse was talking to me.
“Do you really need to speak to these people, Rudd?” the octopus on the corner drawled and I shrieked even louder and the sea horse smiled and said,” tell me girly, what are you here for? Wanna get some sapphires as blue as the water? They will match well on your porcelain like skin? We do have some blood diamonds as well…”
“How about a blood pearl?” I asked the sea horse as soon as I was out of the shock that sea creatures were speaking to me.
“The girl knows her magic, it seems,” the octopus drawled again as it started moving with its tentacles and started coming towards me. I remained stationary hoping that it was not going to throw ink at me and it wrapped its arms around my back and underneath my breasts and said,” Come on girly. I will go there with you. You won’t make it alone. Rudd here will show you the way.”
Yeah…this was all that remained. Being accosted by a sea horse and an octopus, that is what my life had now become.
