Persephone’s POV

The first sensation of drowning was nothing like I had experienced before. I knew how to swim of course but that did not mean that I knew how to keep holding my breath under water for long periods of time and unlike the idiot who had been holding my hand in a death grip I did not have gills to breathe underwater. I could feel the pressure increasing in my chest as the air bubbles started escaping from my mouth.
I tried jerking off my hand from his hold but no, I could not let him leave my hand. He did not speak and just simply stared at me and I could hear his voice I my head,” The more you fight the more harder it will be for you. Don’t panic. You will alert everyone if you panic.”
My eyes widened but my panic subsided a bit. The way he had pulled me under water had only increased the sensation that I was getting attacked. And now my lungs and throat started burning because I could not hold back breathing any longer and I let open my mouth and a huge bubble escaped from my mouth. But strangely it was not even a normal bubble. It was a giant sized bubble and it flickered close to my head and it kind of looked like jelly fish. I was clawing against Tak’s arms when he said,” Put your head inside the bubble.”
I did that and soon my entire head was encased inside the bubble and I could breathe. The moment that happened the next thig that came out of my mouth was,” The moment I get out of here I am so kicking your ass.”
“And I would expect nothing less from you.”
And as soon as I was able to breathe freely for the first time I saw the beauty underneath the water. The colour of the water was so beautiful that I was mesmerised, along with that there were so many different kinds of fishes and other creatures moving about. At one point I swear I saw a sea turtle wink at me.
And suddenly Takumi pulled me inside a cave underneath the water. There was very little light inside and it was extremely disconcerting but thank the heavens for the night vision I had.
And then we stopped and the water levels were to our waist. I gasped out in the air and looked at him with daggers in my gaze.
“What the hell is wrong with you Tak? You took me to an underwater adventure after distracting me while I was naked? Do you know how shameful it might be for me?”
“I am naked as well.”
“Well you have a tail and fins and gills, fish boy. No one is seeing your lady bits hanging and moving around in the water, are they? Why the hell did you bring me here? Do you not realise that I will need to go to the duel? And if I don’t reach there at the set time then I am going to forfeit the challenge? Is that what you really want? For me to lose? Are you working with that bitch? Are you siding against me to help that blood sucking cunt?” I burst out when his eyes widened and then he said,” That is your first instinct?”
“What else should it be?”
“Well you could have also thought that as I am seducing a siren there might be a chance that he would like to hold me captive and never let me go?”
This time my eyes widened and I scowled at him,” You want to hold me captive? Under water? You don’t think that the fact that I cannot survive underwater for long periods of time impediment to that strange plan of yours?”
“Thank Poseidon that your brain is functioning normally again. This is far better than accusing me of siding with the vampire bitch who wants you dead.”
I scoffed at his words. “She can only try.”
“Yeah she will and I brought you here so that she cannot succeed in that.”
“Where did you get that piece of information by the way? Don’t you think you have been too pre occupied with your Guardian duties to think about who challenges me and when? And I can handle myself.”
“Clearly, as we got a very nice demonstration of that today morning.”
“You don’t trust me.”
“I trust you but I don’t trust the control that you have. For you every single emotion is going to let you cause a typhoon or an earthquake or any activity which might hit everything. But I have something to help you bring control over your powers. So that you burn others with careful precision. And that is something that you can get only here. You are the one who has to find it.”
“What are you talking about?”
“The Blood pearl,” said Tak as he smiled and he stared at me as if that should tell me everything that I needed to know but I raised my brow at him.
“Oh I forget, you were not groomed the way that we were. The blood pearl is created when a sea horse dies the night of a full moon and drips blood inside an oyster which finally blooms to its full glory on the night of a full moo and then another drop of fresh water dew and closed again for three more lunar cycles and then the blood pearl is formed. It is extremely ad exceedingly rare and that is the only thing that is going to give the control you need. You will find it here.”
“You want me to find an extremely rare pearl here which may help me before my challenge?” I asked him again to prove that I had grasped it correctly.
He nodded and smiled serenely at me and the next moment I punched his handsome face. It almost felt like my hand was being split into two, his face was so hard it almost felt like it was carved out of granite.
“You idiot! Are you fucking insane?”
