Chapter 81
Isadora POV.
Just as I was about to respond, Golem's body gently began to move as he slowly arose from his unconsciousness. "He's awake," I exclaimed, rushing towards his side.
Helping him up into a sitting position, he asked, "What happened to me?"
I replied, "It's a long story. Remember the black dust the White Wizard used on you back at the North? Turns out we underestimated its effects on you. Thanks to the ritual performed by this witch doctor, everything will be okay now, and your strength will return even greater than before."
"Is that so?" Golem inquired, his voice weak.
I nodded in response, saying, "Yes, my love. All that is left is for you to drink some of this blood here." Receiving the calabash from the witch doctor, I passed it over to Golem, saying, "Here you go, have some."
He took a quick gulp of the blood, and with a mouth still tainted with the crimson liquid, he asked, "Whose blood is this, by the way?"
I responded, saying, "Anastasia's."
"What?!" Golem yelled, spitting the blood straight at my face.
The shock of his reaction took me by surprise, the warm liquid on my face mingling with the emotions that surged within me. I wiped the blood away, trying to maintain composure as Golem glared at me.
"Why would you make me drink her blood?" he questioned, a mixture of anger and confusion in his eyes.
"I had to, Golem. It was part of the ritual to save you," I explained, my voice tinged with regret.
He scoffed, wiping his mouth, "Saving me with her blood? What kind of twisted magic is this?"
The witch doctor intervened, saying, "It was a necessary sacrifice. The Fire Lord's strength needed a restorative force, and her blood, willingly given, served that purpose."
Golem's expression darkened, "Anastasia willingly sacrificed herself for me?"
I nodded, "Yes, she did. Despite everything, she made a choice to save you."
Golem, in anger, got up on his feet, looking at me in disappointment. "Isadora, you must think I'm stupid, don't you? Anastasia would never sacrifice herself for anyone, not even the baby in her womb. Tell me the truth; you killed her, didn't you?"
I stayed silent, avoiding his gaze.
Closing the gap between us, Golem glared at me, thundering, "Isadora, look at me when I'm talking to you. She was having my baby, and you killed her!"
Hearing such accusations shattered my heart. How could he believe I was capable of such a thing, especially to his own child, even if it was being carried by another woman?
Before I could gather my thoughts, he grabbed me by the neck, glared into my eyes, and demanded, "Answer me, Isadora."
"Let me go, you're hurting me," I pleaded, the men around us staring in confusion, unsure how to react.
Golem suddenly let go of me, falling down on his knees. He placed both hands on his head, saying, "Isadora, I'm sorry. Please forgive me. I will never hurt you in my life. But you must understand that the life of a child is price—"
Before he could complete the statement, massaging my throat, I interrupted, "That's if there was a child."
Golem, taken aback by the revelation, getting up on his feet, he looked at me calculatingly as he yelled "What?! If you're trying to tell me something, I would appreciate if you do it straightforwardly, Isadora."
"You heard me clearly, Golem. There was nothing pregnant about her. She was just trying to emotionally blackmail all of us, well emotionally blackmail you into staying with her and clearly you fell for it" I responded, taking a seat on a nearby chair.
Golem exclaimed as he approached me slowly, saying, "What? That can't be true, Isadora. Please tell me you're joking. Why would she joke with something as sensitive as that?"
I took a deep breath, yawning carelessly as I replied, "Why don't you ask her yourself? That's her corpse lying right there."
"That's not funny, Isadora," Golem responded, walking towards Anastasia's lifeless body and examining her. He turned back around, surprise wrapped around his face, as he said to me, "Wow, I don't believe this. How did you find out?" he asked.
I responded, "That one was easy. As soon as you passed out during her fire assault, we had to get you to the doctor. But this gentleman here," I said, gesturing at the witch doctor, "wasn't even a regular doctor. Thankfully, we found him, and he requested that a blood bath be performed upon you. Guess what happened next," I asked, placing my arms on my waist as I got up on my feet.
"Now is not the time for these guessing games, Isadora. Come on, tell me already," Golem impatiently responded.
"Well, she confessed the truth about not having your baby."
Nodding his head, Golem expressed, casting a disgusted look at Anastasia's corpse, "Stupid bitch. I can't believe my ears." He then inquired, returning his gaze to me, "And then what happened?"
"Then she tried to get away. Thankfully, your men were able to get her back just in time to pay for the offense she committed, I am done being weak, from now on the measure you give, will be the measure that you will receive."
Golem responded with a big smile on his face as he pulled me by the waist into a kiss, saying, "Good job, that's my baby, I knew I didn't get a weakling as a mate."
I playfully responded, avoiding his kisses, "Don't call me baby when you think the worst about me. How can you even imagine I'll kill your child, even if it was born by another woman, you were right there you heard me when I told her, that I don't mind sharing you with her as long as it's for your baby?"
Golem relentlessly continued with the kisses as he responded, "I told you I'm sorry, baby I swear I really am. Why don't we go upstairs so I can make it up to you the way I'm sure you'll love."
I couldn't help but blush as I kissed back. Playfully, I inquired, even though I knew exactly what he was talking about, "What way are you talking about, my love?"
"Shhhhh!! Baby," Golem responded, placing a finger on my lips as he kept tracing his kisses down my neck, and each one sent a jolt of electricity down my spine. He continued, saying, "Don't ruin the surprise. When we get to the bedroom, you'll find out."
With that, he lifted me into his arms and kept kissing me as we headed up the stairs.
