Chapter 82
Isadora POV.
The next morning, I woke up in bed, tired and completely drained of strength. The worst part was that I couldn't remember a single thing, and my whole body felt sore.
Still dizzy, I rolled around in bed, trying to stretch my body. When I rolled into what felt like a rock, the sleep immediately disappeared from my eyes as I yelled out, "Golem, what are you doing in my bed!"
He gave me a puzzled look, a grin playing on his lips as he replied, "Really, Isadora? Really? You actually want me to believe you don't remember a thing that happened between us last night?" A doubtful expression on his face.
I shook my head in response, saying, "No, I don't. What happened between us?" I asked as I grabbed the blankets to cover up my naked body.
Golem chuckled, leaning in closer with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, my forgetful queen, let's just say we explored some new realms of passion and love last night."
I blushed, a mix of embarrassment and curiosity in my expression. "You're joking, right? I really can't recall anything."
He traced a finger along my cheek, whispering, "it was so good it wiped your memory, you'll have to trust my word on this one. It was a night to remember, or apparently, a night you'd prefer to forget."
Rolling my eyes, I responded, "Well, next time, warn me before you invade my bed."
Golem laughed, "Fair enough, my love. Now, get some rest. You might need it after last night's escapades." With that, he crashed back into the bed.
I stood still staring at him, as my memory gradually began to return, a smile formed on my face as I recalled how amazing it was.
"Don't just stand there smiling my love, come over and join me" he gestured stretching his arms wide open and I took a dive into it giggling.
He placed a kiss on my lips, as he cuddled me throwing away the blanket, his skin warm against mine. "You remember don't you?"
Golem grinned as I nodded, a playful glint in his eyes. "Well, glad to know my efforts weren't wasted and left a lasting impression. Now, let's make today even better."
I responded with a smile on my face, saying, "For today, I want you to treat me like a queen."
Golem played with my hair as I cuddled in his arms, responding, "I will treat you like a queen until the day I breathe my last."
Playfully, I asked, "Are you sure? You know what they say, talk is cheap."
He held my chin, placing another kiss on my lips, "Not my words, Isadora. My words are solid. Or what? You want me to prove myself? Alright then, fine. Ask me to do anything."
I couldn't control my giggle as I stared into his eyes, so I asked him to close his eyes, and he did. I had never had this much fun with anyone in a very long while, not even with Eamon. With Golem, I felt like a kid again, and I enjoyed every little bit of it.
After a few minutes of contemplation, I finally said, "I want you to make me breakfast in bed."
"What?!" Golem yelled, opening his eyes, throwing me into another episode of laughter as I giggled around the bed like a madwoman.
Golem, still in disbelief, muttered, "Breakfast in bed? That's your request? Have you ever seen me cook? I'm a complete mess in the kitchen. I'm a disaster."
I placed my palm on his cheeks chuckling. "Whatever you make would taste great my love, you know what they say it's the thought that counts. A queen deserves a royal treatment."
He sighed dramatically, "Very well, your highness. Let me fulfill your royal decree."
With that, Golem got up from the bed, and I couldn't help but admire the sight. Despite the playful banter, there was a genuine warmth between us that made the room feel lighter.
As he disappeared into the kitchen, I lay back on the bed, relishing the moment. The events of the previous night seemed like a distant memory, and I was grateful for the peace that had settled in.
Soon enough, Golem returned with a tray filled with a delightful breakfast spread. He had prepared a variety of dishes, and the aroma filled the room.
"Your royal feast, my queen," he announced, presenting the tray with a flourish.
I couldn't hide my surprise and delight as I placed a fork of the potato mixed with egg sauce into my mouth. "Yummy!!!! Well, I must say, you exceeded my expectations, baby."
Golem winked, "I'm glad my queen likes it."
We enjoyed the breakfast together, exchanging laughter and light-hearted conversations. It was a morning of simple pleasures and genuine connection.
Just as I sat in bed eating, a dark thought suddenly ran through my mind, and I immediately lost my appetite, placing the fork back on the tray. That this was only a lie, just a fairy tale that doesn't exist. Happiness seemed to be like a distant dream, and Golem was going to one day disappear from my life, just like he did to his mother.
My mood darkened, and my expression shifted visibly as Golem cupped my jaw, lifting me up to meet his gaze. However, I resisted as he inquired, saying, "My love, what's bothering you? Don't you like the food?"
"It's not the food, Golem," I replied, putting the tray down.
He squeezed my cheeks softly, asking, "Then what's bothering you, baby? You know you can tell me anything, right?"
Finally, I met his gaze and said, "I want you to look me in the eye and promise me that this is not just a dream, and I'm not living a lie. Because it would be a shame for you to raise my hopes up and then turn back to disappoint me."
Golem visibly panicked for a second as he looked into my eyes, searching for answers. "I don't understand you, Isadora. Where is this coming from? What have I ever done to give you such an impression?"
I maintained my conviction as I replied, "I love you, Golem, but how can I trust that you won't run away from me? If you can run away from your mother, then who am I?"
